Chapter Text
“The cavalry is here!” Eva cheered seeing the large ships hovering outside the hangar bay, those they had been waiting for to arrive to come get them all away from this dreaded place. One having already landed.
“Aren’t you a chipper one!” Wrecker immediately picked up the small girl in his arms after walking out from his ship seeing the wee one there, Eva in turn giving Wrecker a big hug. Trusting the big guy immediately having hears so many stories from Omega about her Batch.
“I am glad to see you as are the rest of us here too.” Eva assured the powerhouse.
“Well, we’re here to take you all to safety.” Wrecker assured Eva and the rest of the kids, the others having gathered around the powerhouse as soon as Eva had pounced him.
“Crosshair, Hunter, Wrecker, Echo!” Omega shouted and waved like crazy, having run to her family and soon enough she was hugging each and every single one of them. Seeing the other familiar faces there as well around the Batch. “Rex, Gregor, Howzer, thank you all for coming.” Omega was so totally elated, so happy of seeing them all again.
“Sure Kid! There is no place else I would rather be.” Gregor chuckled getting a hug of his own from Omega.
Rex and Howzer glanced around the embarking area, the surprise on their faces recognisable without a doubt. But it was a good surprise. As there were so many clones there.
“There are so many of them here…” Rex’s voice broke, becoming near tears seeing all the vod’e gathered there. Those able to walk on their own two feet, some laid out on stretchers. This was the moment they had been dreaming of. Getting their brethren back after all this time of doubt and not knowing.
“Yeah, there are a lot of clones here for sure.” Howzer felt equally as choked, seeing several familiar faces among the gathered, some he had thought having been lost for good to him. “I um… see some of my squad here too.”
Rex could only pat Howzer on his shoulder, the words lost to them in the emotional reunion. Even if Rex was pretty sure he did not know half of these clones here, he did not care as all he wanted was to bring them all to safety. A dream coming true for the Captain finally.
“I see someone I know!” Gregor pointed at the few commandos near by just then. “Scorch! Old buddy!” Gregor was already on his way to greet them when Rex stopped him.
“They’re imperials, Gregs.” It was a soft warning, but just the same, a warning.
.
.
Omega realising the confusion Rex had with the commandos, quickly chimed in.
“It’s okay Rex. They are back to themselves now. All of them are.”
“They are?”
“Yes, the programming was broken. With thanks to Emerie here.”
Rex nodded for Gregor to go ahead, trusting in Omega on this one. Which Gregor did. Only too happy to see his old friends alive and guess, somewhat okay. But yeah, so many thought lost to them present and counted for. A joyous day indeed for the clones.
“This is Emerie, the clone I have been talking about.”
Omega proceeded to introduce her new friend to the rest of the Batch and Rex’s team. After all, Emerie had been a big help in orchestrating the escape. With some help from Omega and the rest of the kids but of course.
They could also spot the Kaminoan, Nala Se lending a hand in helping the wounded.
“I see she is here too.” Rex pointed out none too fondly.
“Nala Se, helped us.” Omega told him as much. Omega having felt the need to bring Nala Se with them, even if Emerie had not agreed at first. And the Kaminoan herself had not indicated any desire in leaving either, most likely feeling she deserved what she had gotten in the end. But, Omega had disagreed and so, here Nala Se was.
“Well, then, guess we should start loading them all up. We have plenty of space on the transports.” Howzer and Echo were eager enough to get moving along, as they were on the clock after all and needing to get out of the base as soon as possible with their precious cargo.
“Um… them too?” Wrecker sounded a tad doubtful, seeing the Clone CXs among the other prisoners standing around simply awaiting orders.
“Yeah, they… well, they are our side now too. Well, sort of.” Omega tried to explain.
“Sort of? Waddaya mean?” Hunter wasn’t exactly sold either.
“Yeah, those things tried to kill us!” Howzer interjected.
“Well, Emerie has control of them now.” Omega knew she had and yes, they still needed a lot of deprogramming, or reprogramming, whatever it was, but Omega could feel them there, in the Force. And so trusting in that they would be fine. Eventually.
“Are you sure, I mean one of the kidnapped you, Omega.” Crosshair did not trust them as far as he could throw them, having been there and done that himself and knowing all too well what they had become.
Not that Omega needed the reminder, but Crosshair, Hunter, Wrecker and the others had a reason to not trust these, modified clones. The elite assassin clones. Omega closed her eyes once again, tapping into the Force just to be sure. Seeing what she needed to see there. The shadows were docile, under control and, somewhere deep inside, where the true selves of the clones. A place where Omega was yet to reach herself.
“I am sure.”
“Well, okay then.”
*
The ships were loaded and taking off of the platforms. There were only a few remaining on the base. Hemlock and a few of his minions not wanting to go with the rescue team.
“Ready to get off this forsaken place?” Crosshair asked the others around him while onboard Echo’s ship.
“Are we ever!”
“Wrecker, all set?” Hunter then asked.
“I am, Boss.” The grin on Wrecker’s face was priceless.
“Let ‘er rip!!!”
Wrecker let out a wicked laugh while pressing the detonator button with one last snide comment. “Boom!”
They all watched through the viewport while ascending towards the high skies. It was a pretty sight for sure. Mount Tantiss base going down in a pile of rubble. The infamous facility soon to be no more.
