Chapter Text

“But it makes sense Crosshair. This is our only chance for us to finally find Tantiss.”

Omega was so frustrated, so angry, feeling helpless, emotional, everything coming crushing on her. But, she was also so right. They had all wasted time and resources in trying to find the imperial base of Tantiss only coming out empty handed every single time. Well, almost, but mostly so as they were nowhere near in getting the coordinates for the location of the cursed place.

“Omega, be reasonable. Getting caught again, voluntarily surrendering to the imperial troopers… It’s just… a really, really bad plan!”

Crosshair really tried hard to convince Omega of the same. That this was a mistake for her to even think about it. But at the same time, Crosshair simply had no leverage to argue with, Omega having put her foot down in a manner of speaking. And in all fairness, Omega was right, no matter how crazy it sounded. It was their only and perhaps last option.

“But I need to do this, Crosshair. It’s because of me the Empire is here, threatening our family, our friends, everyone here. Destroying Pabu, our home. I was the one who failed all those other clones when I had a chance to rescue them… I should have done better back them…” She looked up at Crosshair, the heartfelt regret in her tone convincing Crosshair if she had not done so before. “Crosshair, I need to go back and do the right thing.” She was adamant too, the arguments she was making solid. “I can do it this time, I can convince others to help me.”

“Omega,” Crosshair’s voice was soft, still trying to convince the Kid about… well, something, not really sure anymore as to what. It was too raw and emotional for them both having survived the horrors or Tantiss once, but twice? “It wasn’t your fault. None of the things happening there is your fault. There was nothing we were able to do back then either. We would have gotten caught tinkering into those prison cells or worse.” Crosshair wasn’t wrong either. They had barely gotten away with their lives as it was.

“I can hide a communicator on me… then I can contact you when on Tantiss and you can come and get me and the others… with Rex and Echo and… they can help you and…”

“No, Omega. It won’t work. They will scan you. It’s standard procedure and we don’t have anything else to counter their scans. Not here and handy anyway.”

“Well then,” Omega was quickly trying to figure out some other way, “you can shoot a tracker onto their ship. Echo will be here soon and then you can follow the tracker, right?”

Crosshair was contemplative for a spell, trying to figure the less obvious choice for them to be able to track Omega after she surrendered. As clearly, this was what was going to happen. No doubt about the choice any more. Omega was going back to the Empire.

“It’s too obvious. But, there is another way… if you are willing to try that is… just like you have trained until now.”

Omega stared at Crosshair wide eyed for a moment then. The realisation of what Crosshair had meant hitting her fast enough. And so, Omega could only nod in response.

As Crosshair was right about one thing. The time being right for Omega to try what she could do.
