Chapter 1: Gone? Omega is gone again?

Summary:

Wrecker wakes up only to find Omega gone, again….

Chapter Text

"Waddaya mean she's gone?”

Wrecker cringed, the pain from flying across the air and landing into the water with Gonky. Not something he cared to repeat as contrary to what people kept telling him, water was not soft, at all. And trying to get up from the bed did not help any. His body objection to his trials and mostly errors as Wrecker was unable to lift himself up on his own accord.

“Where did she go?” Wrecker having been out of it a tad too long for the others explanation sinking in.

Hunter and Crosshair both tried to calm down the powerhouse, pushing him back to lie on the bed his condition not improved enough yet.

“Take it easy Wrecks.” Hunter ordered him, gently patting Wrecker while trying to calm the man.

Crosshair had brought something for Wrecker though. The one thing the sniper knew would always comfort any of them. And this time it was Wrecker who needed the comfort. Crosshair having snuck into the memorial museum for the artefacts kept on Pabu to get back the item in question. Placing it gently in the crock of Wrecker’s arm.

“Here.”

“Lula… awwww man!”

Wrecker was all emotional suddenly. Seeing as Lula had been Omega’s comfort lately, but now he needed it because well, apparently Omega was gone again. And things were falling apart and Wrecker was a mess, his body broken and… his eyes darting suddenly every which way.

“Gonky?”

The word suddenly spilling out from Wrecker’s mouth.

“Gonky is fine. You saved him, Wrecker.” Crosshair assured him then, getting a slight nod only in repose.

Both Hunter and Crosshair took a seat next to Wreckers bed. His five shadows, Lyana, Shep and the three clone boys having taken off after Hunter had asked them to take a break. As there was something the three of them needed to talk about. Besides, the others were needed elsewhere now, the rebuilding of Pabu having begun with all hands on deck.

Batcher remaining though where she had been all this time. Glued to Wrecker’s side ever since having been ordered there, to stay by his side by Hunter. Not that Batcher needed to be ordered anywhere. The hound always managing to be by those needing her.

“Wrecker, there is no easy way to say this, but Omega surrendered herself to the Empire.”

“Wot?”

“She saved us all, Wrecker.”

“Kriffing hell! I take one dive and this is what happens! Why didn’t ya stop her?”

“I tried Wreck.“ Crosshair tried to explain.” But omega insisted she should go and well, you know how she is. Besides…”

“Yeah, Cross, I know.”

“If she hadn’t done it, well we’d lost so many here on Pabu. Being outmanned and outgunned against those imps… not to that shadow…”

Hunter had a bad feeling about the CX clone, something stirring within him whenever the shadow or assassin, or whatever he was was near.

“She is on her way to Tantiss, or may already be there.”

“And besides, there is a plan at play here. For us to get to Tantiss.” Crosshair reviled as much.

“Please tell me you put a tracker on her at least.”

“Even better Wrecker.”

“What could be better than that?”

Hunter glanced at Crosshair, who simply raised his brows and tapped at his own head.

“I don’t get it…“ Wrecker stared at the two for a moment before realising what the two were signalling to him. “Oh! That!”

“Yeah Wrecks. That.” Both Hunter and Crosshair chuckled, the idea of their plan finally hitting the powerhouse, not that anyone could blame him for not realising it immediacy, as Wrecker had taken quite the dive, literally.

“So what do we do next?”

“Well, we’ve contacted Echo and Rex to stand by. And now? Well. Now we sit and wait.”

“For wot exactly?”

“Omega’s signal.”
