The Guardian - Season 1

Chapter 19: Author's Note: The future of this fanfic

Summary:

Author's note

Chapter Text

Well, it's finished.

Nearly 3 years later, it's finally finished, more than 430k words later.

You can imagine what a relief and joy it is.

My previous longest work, The Wrecker (which if memory serves was 250k) took about a year and a half, but this story has trumped it both in length, effort and personally, quality (I love The Wrecker, but I am very attached to this story).

I know that waits for chapters could be insanely long, with some crazy hiatus', but I'm glad you all stuck with this story to the end.

Now, the question is, what's next? I'm a busy man, I've got a lot of personal work to do regarding my dream job, plus a ton of other projects (other fanfics, books, etc.).

Well, fear not, that to be continued was there for a reason!

I can confirm that yes, there WILL be a Season 2 of Guardian. In fact, there will be plenty more seasons, I have SO much planned, years upon years of stories (though hopefully it won't take as long this time).

I will be taking a break from this world until I make Guardian S2... I think you can understand that. I need time and space, plus I have other projects (Scandalous Chemistry will hopefully come back by late May).

But yes, there will be a second season, so if you all loved this one, there's much more to come!

For now, I can only say a few things:

1. S2 won't be like S1. By which I mean, it won't be one long story arc. There IS an overarching arc of sorts, especially at the end, but this time, we'll follow a more traditional format. There will be... Well, maybe I should just show you ;):

EPISODE 1: "The Crime of the Century (according to Heist)!": Heist is back, and she and Bluey have the ultimate scheme: Steal the incredible Lynn's Table recipes and sell them to the highest bidder! Desperate to help her father, The Guardian fights back, while trying to also spend time with her family, have a date with Bobby and work at her new job.

EPISODE 2: "Woman Under the Influencer": A reckless youtuber/social media influencer named Click is causing serious havoc, and Luan's been framed for her pranks! The Guardian snaps into action, as does overprotective Captain Griffin, when it turns out the problem involves her daughter's drama club. Meanwhile, Lyberti and Leo are roped into a triple date with Shannon, Rex, Amy and Ruby.

EPISODE 3: "The Alpha Wolf": Brutus Rex, the world's top wrestler, is tired of his promotion. He wants a new challenge. And he's settled on The Guardian. Perhaps Lynn Jr. can give Lori some advice for a change. Meanwhile, Griffin investigates corruption claims at the promotion, with help from Bruce, though both are awkward about it.

EPISODE 4: "Ballerina": Beatrix Yates has always strived for perfection, as the eldest Yates child. Even when encouraged by her family to break out of it, she struggles. Traumatized by the Raven's Attack, Beatrix develops a criminal split personality obsessed with perfection. Her first performance? Same time as the Moon Goats concert and Lola's pageant. The Guardian might just relate to that perfectionist problem.

EPISODE 5: "Guardian-Kart": Royal Woods is hosting its first F1 race, and Lana's been picked for Bobby Fletcher's pit crew, alongside the Construction Crew! Forced to race, Guardian and her crew (Lincoln, Lisa, Lyberti and Mark the Cameraman) must make sure not to ruin Lana's dream!

EPISODE 6: "Cinco de Mayo": it's a big day at Great Lakes City, and Lori tries to be a good girlfriend while stopping a returning Hocus Pocus from ruining the celebration. Meanwhile, Lincoln and Ronnie Anne get their sort of date ruined by Carlota, who tries to matchmake a little too hard.

EPISODE 7 and 8: "Ever Dance With the Devil?" Parts 1 and 2: Mr. E is back, reborn as "The Devil", designed to tear The Guardian apart. To prove her methods and ideology wrong, he places 6 very different people (Guardian, Katherine Mulligan, Luna, Hocus Pocus, The Shadow, Clive) in a locked room to make them turn on each other and be selfish monsters. Outside, Griffin, Lyberti, Sam, Glamour, Lynn Sr and Theresa try to work together to free them.

EPISODE 9: "Mother's Day": Around May 9th, Holly Day, a gadgeteer holiday obsessed nutcase, kidnaps Lynn Sr and commits other holiday crimes to distract The Guardian. This leads to The Guardian needing her mother's help. Meanwhile, Shannon gets her mother to take a day off.

EPISODE 10: "Wire Crossed Lovers": Bluey and Bucky get crushes on each other and date in secret, while Heist tries to rob a pet show benefactors fortune. Meanwhile, Lori projects her worries about her relationship onto Lyberti and Leo.

EPISODE 11 and 12: "At Long Last... The Starlight!" Parts 1 and 2: With The Guardian under the weather and Heist on a crime spree, Lyberti decides it's finally time to debut her Sidekick alter ego, Starlight! But this hero gig is tougher than it looks, especially when Click joins the attack!

EPISODE 13: "Autophobia": Lori and Lyberti are assigned a city angle report on the graveyard, and in an attempt to prove to Lucy she doesn't find her off-putting, Lori invites her and the Mortician's Club to help. However, babysitting Lily at the same time proves hazardous, as Phobia, a new and all together supernatural villain, attacks their fears. Now The Guardian needs the Mortician Club's help!

EPISODE 14: "The Devil is in the Details": The Devil tries to tank Guardian's reputation by slowly revealing all her sins and dirty secrets on live TV, while Lori tries to hang out with Carol.

EPISODE 15: "In a World of my Own": Lori wakes up to a perfect world, where all crime is gone and The Guardian is perfect. But is it really? She can't shake the thought that something is wrong...

EPISODE 16: "The Sorcerer's Apprentice": Lincoln, feeling a little useless, tries to improve his magic skills to help The Guardian, and gets roped into helping Hocus Pocus, who wants to turn Lincoln mad to break The Guardian.

EPISODE 17: "Star Children": The Action News Now team find Zack's parents in an alien worshiping cult that claims The Guardian is the chosen one.

EPISODE 18: "Fore You": When both Heist and Organized Chaos attack Marisa's Dad's golf course, Guardian and the Casagrandes try to help. Meanwhile, Agent Wolf and Pepin undergo their first argument while at the Chang's.

EPISODE 19: "The Wolf Who Cried Boy": Agent Wolf is having setbacks, and he and Guardian try to prove his innocence, but is the Devil too crafty this time?

EPISODE 20: "Remember, Remember...": Memorial Day hits, as does Holly Day, who tries to resurrect her husband.

EPISODE 21: "The Return of The Hood": Brutus learns of The Guardian's wrestling past and challenges her to a last man standing. Lori must resist the pull to fame.

EPISODE 22: "Click's XTREME Gauntlet of Challenge!": Click manipulates Ballerina into working together: she can show off her perfection while Click runs a dangerous but viewed gauntlet. Guardian and Starlight must work together to stop it.

EPISODE 23: "A Lovely Volunteer": Carol and Glamour (Hocus Pocus' assistant) end up in a Thelma and Louise situation.

EPISODE 24: "The Devil and Mr. Spokes": Rusty's dad is co-erced into destroying The Guardian.

EPISODE 25: "Leni Noir": Leni tries to investigate what's happened to her friends, coming face to face with Dr. Grade.

EPISODE 26: "Captive Audience": Shannon and Lincoln are kidnapped by Hocus Pocus, testing Guardian and Griffin's strength and partnership.

EPISODE 27 and 28: "Hell Breaks Loose" Parts 1 and 2: The Devil breaks everyone out of prison, leading The Guardian to need his help, even if it might help his scheme succeed.

This is then followed by a 10 episode arc that will rival the entire first season (Which I am retroactively naming "The Guardian Begins") for stakes, drama, angst and epic moments, a story arc I shall only call "City of Shadows and Light". It features old villains, new villains, and some major reveals.

2. It will be a few months before I write all this. Not forever, but I think I'd need until September.

3. I also plan to publish a spinoff story (that would include the scene of Lori talking to her family and deciding to go to therapy) all about Shannon and Rex, but we'll see when I get to publish that.

4. Finally, just like with Scandalous Chemistry, here's a tumblr post with all the art my sister has made!: https://www.tumblr.com/spongeguyandlelouchvibridankia/749537689829851136?source=share

See you next time!

Notes:

This is the first chapter of MANY to follow, with Chapter 2, a sort of "part 2" to this one, coming out hopefully in a fortnight! Any questions will be answered in the notes section of future chapters, as a letter column of sorts! Make sure to look out for easter eggs and teases, as they're all over this story!
