Buck pushed himself up on an elbow as he heard footsteps on the stairs. A smile spread across his face unbidden as he saw Eddie's sleep-mussed hair appear before the rest of him followed. He had a glass of water in his hand and a shy smile on his face.
"Hey," he said, walking over and putting the glass on Buck's bedside table.
"Hey," Buck replied, staring up at him lovingly. "C'mere, would you?"
Lips twitching in a stifled grin, Eddie leant down to meet him as Buck reached a hand out to cup his face and guide it towards his own. Their lips met softly, chaste yet tender, and both men felt a zing of electricity go down their spines.
"I love you so much," Buck murmured, fingers sliding back to play with the ends of Eddie's hair.
Eddie pressed another quick kiss to Buck's mouth before straightening up.
"Drink your water," he instructed, pointing at it purposefully before rounding to the other side of the bed and sinking down with a sigh.
Buck pushed himself up into a sitting position so he could reach the glass of water and drink it without spilling it everywhere. The cool liquid was heavenly as it slid down his throat, and he'd drained it in no time.
Once the glass was back on his bedside table, Buck wriggled back down and turned to reach for his best friend.
Finishing tapping something into his phone, Eddie put it down on the other bedside table and then rolled towards Buck, sliding an arm around his waist and tugging him even closer.
"Hi," Buck whispered.
"Hi," Eddie replied. His eyelids fluttered, begging to close, but he fought against sleep so that he could brush their noses together and say, "I love you, Buck."
Angling his head slightly, Buck ducked in for another brief kiss before pressing his forehead firmly to Eddie's.
"Sorry for being a mess last night," he murmured.
"Don't worry about it."
"I'll make it up to you." Eddie's lips quirked curiously and Buck chuckled softly before adding, "Later. Go to sleep. I'll be here when you wake up."
Too tired to argue, Eddie let his eyes fall shut as the two of them shifted to get comfortable. Buck tucked Eddie in close, rolling onto his back slightly and guiding Eddie's head to rest on his chest. Eddie let out a heavy sigh, fingers tightening against Buck's side for a moment before relaxing again, and Buck lazily played with the man's hair.
It wasn't long before the two of them drifted into sleep – both with a smile on their lips.
