Chapter Text
He flips through the sketchbook, looking at all the different types of drawings, some of people you've seen online and some of the museum exhibits, others of just drawings that come to mind.
Each of them were drawn-out nicely, others just rushed sketches.
You rummage through your backpack, looking for a pencil, for writing or taking notes as Ahk looks down at you in confusion, and then points to a photo.
"Is that Jed?" He asks, a smile forming on his face as he sees both Jed and Oct, in the small car, a little drawing.
"Oh," Nodding, and smiling up at him. "Yeah, I think that was one of the really good ones, but nothing compared to paintings. As much as I'd love to say those are my best works, I think my love for these things lie in paint. I'd love to redo that one."
Painting was a way to see the world for farther than it was, every perfection and unimportant imperfections. Everyone had them, but to either fix or not to fix them through rose-tinted glasses in a rear view mirror was a choice. Every painting had them. Pros and cons. Although, beyond the photo, there was life and soul put into it. Something ever so present in Ahk's.
"Ah, that makes sense. You paint beautifully," He says, looking through more pictures, then handing it back.
Someone like him could really spot beauty in things. He had a taste for shiny gold things after all.
"I'm glad you appreciate my art, Ahk. It means a lot." You say, getting up from successfully finding a pencil, setting it on the countertop. "I wish I could show more people, but–"
"Are we not in a museum for a reason? If I could.. or of Larry could.. you know, it'd be nice for you to have your paintings hung up on the walls, a little exhibit for your work."
"They'd come alive too, wouldn't they?" You reply, a soft laugh.
"I actually don't know, but I would assume so. That'd be beautiful, you could paint oceans and people, and they'd be on display for everyone to appreciate, especially since it's well deserved too.. but, one can only dream? I doubt it'll be allowed, since its not a fancy art gallery– exhibit," He says, seemingly shy.
It would be an odd sight, to see your own work come to life, although it was a stretch for that to even occur.
"Well, thank you then.. that means.. a lot. You know, you're one of the few people to actually see these. I don't know about having so many people view it, like, what if something is off-center? Or they end up not liking it? But you know, like you said, it's unlikely." You say, putting the sketches back in her backpack, setting it away.
"Of course," He nods. "I know this is odd, but, um, do you believe you'll be the new night guard after Larry?" He asks.
That was a pleasant thought, but without Larry, things might go bizarrely different than a normal day, or a normal Friday. Such a large museum, and couldn't get it under control. What would happen if they end up walking out during dawn, a horror you'd be left to bear.
"I.. I actually don't know. I don't think I could do things without him, I'll definitely need more practice," You say, a tone of a few laughs, keeping calm.
"He is exceptionally skilled at his art.." Ahk says, laughing along with you, then he looks up at the streamers, back to you. "If you iever plan on fully working here, Y/N, it'd be a joy to have you around."
"You know, I wouldn't mind staying here. But I've got school and studies, and I wouldn't want to give up on them. It took a lot to even be where I'm at. You know, Ahk, have you ever dreamed of really pursuing something? Like, anything, could either be career-wise or something else, have you?" You ask.
He thinks for a few moments, realizing and trying to remember if there really was anything he'd love to do.
"Well, besides here, I'd love to do more sports. You know, being referee at the soccer games here are very fun, and if I'd like to do something myself, it would be that," He says, a little laugh.
Reminiscing on when he'd take lead for games and even play a few matches, it did seem like something he was interested in. He was also very fit.
"That's not a poor choice," You say, nodding, with a laugh along with him. "But you see, college, it's kinda bringing me to things I wanna do later in life. And unfortunately, I can't go to college to be a night guard, as much as I'd love to. I– I never really thought I'd actually get so attached to being here. This wasn't something I'd expect when I wanted to join the job, in all respect," You say, a hesitant chuckle.
And in all reality, this job wasn't. Who would've thought a temporary job would turn into a magical museum? With magical experiences and magical people & animals? Each of them had a special part in your heart, Attila, Dexter, and so many others. Jed & Oct, you'd miss all of them come due time. But it was worth it. Or was it really?
"I understand. Well, if further ventures take you someplace wonderful, don't be afraid to send us a postcard! Although, it may take a while.." He says, a look of confusion on his face onto many things, especially on when it would arrive. "Either way, we would love to hear from you, I would love to," He says, reaching to hold your hand in company.
