Chapter Text

Chidori returned to his new home. Well, he shouldn’t call it new after all he had been living here for a year now. That showed on the interior which looked like it hadn’t been cleaned up in days. Which it hadn’t he’d been busy after all. Green Keeper wasn’t exactly an easy job.

Green Keeper… he was starting to hate this role and the show the Rangers had been putting on in general. The only thing that reinforced his hatred was what the previous Sosei had told him when he discovered him and Momiji. Sanae was dead and Momiji didn’t want to come with him no matter how much he begged her to.

He had enough he wasn’t just going to sit around and wait for things to change it was time for him to change it himself. So he would go to the only person who could help him. The Last Dragon Priestess Muko Suzukiri. At least that was the plan until the last divine banquet had been called. There the worst situation possible was announced by Yellow Keeper.

He had found Suzukiri.

He had wanted the other Dragon Keepers except Hagino to help him take her back and “ensure she knew exactly her purpose” in Yellow Keeper’s words. Chidori had gone with the Keepers but he had a plan. He had given the General Knights an anonymous tip on where Suzukiri was. The next step came when he would act like he was following the other Keepers.

They had found other Suzukiri clones but they were all dead which was to be expected the clones didn’t survive for that long. However, Suzukiri had seemed dead set on fighting to keep the bodies safe. Suzukiri had even pulled out remote but even with that replica, she didn’t stand a chance against four Dragon Keepers.

But that was to be expected so he planned for that. He would act like he accidentally crushed Suzukiri but in reality, when he sent the earth to crush her he opened up a tunnel underneath her that would take her to where he told the General Knights to look.

The other Dragon Keepers were furious at Chidori for supposedly killing the last source of the divine tool replicas. That was to be expected and had been punished by being suspended for a while. But he had won where the others hadn’t. While the others left the location he came back to the location today and found Red & Blues missing divine tools in the wreckage of Suzukiri’s home. He would keep them to himself for now.

Suzukiri still hadn’t shown up recently though and he was worried that she was dead. But he had a ray of hope, The Kid had stopped showing up to work around the time after the dragon keepers had gone on the move against Suzukiri. He knew she and the Kid had worked together before so maybe they found each other again.

Well, he might as well head to bed. He would clean up tomorrow.

Pounding on his door got his attention. He didn’t think it was the other Dragon Keepers considering none of them knew where he lived. He took precautions to make sure they couldn’t find out.

More pounding drew his attention. A familiar voice was then heard yelling outside his door. “Hey open up. We need to talk”. The Kid yelled outside the door. How the hell did he find his home?

He might as well get this done before he went to sleep. The Kid could crash on the couch if he didn’t want to make the trip back to the Garrison this late at night.

He opened the door and was about to speak had the missing Yumeko Suzukiri not standing right next to the Kid shut his mouth. Well, the more accurate description would be her holding onto the Kid's arm.

He recomposed himself and spoke. “Look who decided to show up. How’d you even find me?”

D spoke up. “We tailed you.

Chidori only smiled at that and waved them in. “Come on in. No point in keeping you outside”.

D and Suzukiri walked in. D showed immediate disgust at the state of the messy house.

“Is all you eat microwaveable ramen?” D picked a wrapper for the ramen while saying this.

“I don’t think you're here just to talk about the mess. Why are you and Suzukiri really here? Come to kill me again?”

“Nah I’ll deal with you later. Besides I’m not the one who wants to have a conversation with you”. D looked at Suzukiri almost signaling her to say something.

Suzukiri composed herself. “I want the divine tools back and don’t lie cause me and little footsoldier saw you take them from my home”.

“I’ll give them back. I have my own already. I have a condition though”.

Suzukiri’s face morphed into anger at that. “Where do you get off taking my family away from me. This isn’t the first time you Dragon Keepers have done this. You’re all nothing but monsters”.

D walked close to her and squeezed her hand. She looked at him in anger before calming down and breathing again.

Chidori spoke up. “You're preaching to the choir. I’m not a good person. I won’t lie and say I am. But I lost something to the Dragon Keepers recently. It made me realize I’ve only ever helped myself.”

Chidori remembered Sanae and Momij’s happy faces smiling at him after he came home after a long day at work and he wanted nothing more than to go back to those days. But he couldn’t. Sanae was dead and Momiji hated him.

Chidori then looked at D and Suzukiri. He saw a little bit of Sanae in D sometimes. That anger slipped out of her towards the Dragon Keepers when Momiji wasn’t around. Now he and Suzukiri had something in common when it came to dead loved ones.

“So I’m offering you two a deal. I’ll give her Red & Blue’s divine tool. I’ll even find a place for you to live. In return, all three of us crush the Dragon Keepers”

D and Suzukiri looked at each other in contemplation. They seemed to have a silent conversation with their eyes. God, they looked so much like him and Sanae right now.

Suzukiri spoke after they stopped looking at each other. “One-bedroom apartment, you transport the divine tools to that apartment, and you have a deal”

Chidori smiled at that. “One-bedroom? I didn’t know you were that social Suzukiri.”

Suzukiri merely smiled. “I have my wants.”

D looked at Suzukiri. “So we done here or what?”

Suzukiri nodded and walked away with a smile on her face.

D lingered and looked at Chidoir who was smiling at him. “Why are you smiling at me so much”.

“Nothing Kiddo just make sure you take of each other all right.”

D scoffed and walked away but did before leaving a little message. “You don’t need to tell me that but remember something this alliance is temporary once the other Dragon Keepers are gone. Your next.”

Chidori smirked at that and watched them walk away. Suzukiri pulled D closer to her as they crept into the darkness. Yeah, those two were in it for the long haul.
