Chapter Text

Tim immediately began the planning of his new special operation. The Family Project. He grabbed whatever he thought was necessary, binoculars, his notepad, a jacket and his camera.

Now to planning. He went outside of his home and scribbled down his street. All of his neighbours were pretty far away from each other and left a lot of space in between. He then noted down his house and the Waynes. It wasn’t too far. He could easily walk there himself, which would be part of his plan to watch them more. Although he knew he would have to be careful snooping around. His neighbourhood had the neighbourhood watch since it was upper class. No one was breaking in or causing trouble anytime soon. If he was seen by the Wayne manor by himself, the neighbours would start to get suspicious and would probably alert Bruce Wayne about his new stalker. That would be bad. Although the worst part is that his parents would be informed and Tim didn’t know if he could ever show his face to them again.

He’d just have to hide in his room for the rest of his life.

But he was smart and he always planned stuff out. That’s just what he would have to do here.

He noted down which direction the Wayne car came from the most and nodded happily at his messily drawn diagram. He was thinking that maybe he could start talking to Jason Tod and become friends with him. That could definitely help make his way into the family. Or he could ‘bump’ into Dick Grayson and just be so overwhelmingly sweet and smart that he has no choice but to take him in as his brother.

Tim scribbled those ideas down for future reference.

He made his way back inside and debated what else he could do whilst his parents were gone. It’s not like they weren’t usually home but there would always be a nanny to look after him, much to Tim’s distaste. He was eleven for crying out loud! He could take care of himself.

For the rest of the time his parents were gone, Tim spent his time watching TV. It wasn’t often he watched cartoons but he took the chance to take up time.

Eventually his parents did come back and they were talking among themselves about work and money and other boring business related things. Janet eventually came over to Tim and gave him a hello kiss on the forehead.
“Hi dear, we took a little longer than expected but you were fine.” She said it as if it was a fact, a rhetorical question even, because before Tim could reply she carried on. “We got an invitation to a gala. Another charity one if I remember correctly.” Janet looked over at Jack who was putting his coat on the coat hanger. He gave her a confirming nod. Tim already felt the life being sucked out of him at the mention of a gala. He hated them so much.

Janet nodded back before her gaze returned to Tim and she continued talking, “It’ll be at Wayne manor so we will be walking. It’ll do you some good to get out.”

Wayne manor. This was perfect! All that life that Tim had lost suddenly returned in an instant. It was like the universe was aligning itself. It was a sign that he really did belong with Dick Grayson and Jason Todd!!

His plan really was being put together.

He went to bed that night brainstorming every possible conversation and interaction he could have with Jason and Dick. Of course he would have to talk to Bruce, he was the father, but he wants his soon to be brothers to like him. Which shouldn’t be too hard! All it’ll take is a bit of watching and intel gathering and the sooner the better.

Tim went to sleep later than normal, his brain filled with the overwhelming thoughts of having a second family. Being so focused on this project was amazing. In a way it was almost refreshing to finally be doing something after longing for it for so long.

The days leading up to the gala were torture. Every waking hour Tim spent thinking about it. He was giddy with excitement which he could barely contain.

When the day finally came, he suddenly got that nervous rush. What if he messes up completely and they all hate him forever?
No no. He can’t think like that. He’s gotta keep a positive attitude.

His father was tying up his bow tie and his mother was applying yet another layer of lipstick. They were the perfect family. Well that’s what they looked like anyway.

Once they were all finally ready, they began their walk to the Wayne manor. The walk there wasn’t too bad and the weather wasn’t too cold.

The family of three arrived outside the manor and immediately began conversation with a group of rich people walking in. Tim paid no attention to them. His only goal was to initiate his plan, not talk to some stuck up rich people.

Tim kept close to his parents although still wasn’t too focused on the conversation going on. He’d stay with them until he saw Jason and then he’d go off to make conversation. He avoided lots of cheek pinching and accepted the ‘adorable’ comments. He was still eleven and these people didn’t seem to understand that he was grown up, not some five year old.

Tim was looking around, scanning the crowd for his intended target then he found him! Jason was standing by the food table, and from the looks of it he needed help escaping some adults trying to talk to him. This was Tim’s moment! He’d swoop in and save his soon to be brother like a hero!

Notes:

The fun stuff will finally begin :3

Notes:

I’m self projecting a lot of my feelings/ experiences that I have had onto Tim, so I’m just kinds using a lot of feelings and what’s happened to me past and present to write him, but still trying to keep it as accurate as I can.

In a way it makes me more passionate about writing it :D
