Chapter Text
‘There are moments that the words don’t reach
There is suffering too terrible to name
You hold your child as tight as you can
And push away the unimaginable
The moments when you’re in so deep
It feels easier to just swim down’
The Charming’s move uptown and learn to live with the loss of their only daughter Violet. Chloe spent hours in the garden, the place that she and Violet used to hang out everyday after a long day.
As Chloe walked by herself uptown, she noticed the breeze. It was soothing, yet quiet. She never liked the quiet before.
Chloe took the children to church on Sunday. The sign of the cross made Chloe pray. That never used to happen before.
People watch as she walks down the street, walking by herself, talking to herself. “Violet, you would like it uptown. It's quiet uptown.”
‘She is working through the unimaginable’
Her hair has gone gray. She passes every day. She has walked the length of the city. But nothing heals the pain in her heart
'Can you imagine?'
Red stood at Violet's grave, her soul gone. She wore black. Chloe joined her, looking at her with sadness and tears. “Look at where we are. Look at where we started, I know I don’t deserve you, Red. But hear me out. That would be enough.”
No response. So she tries again.
“If I could spare her life…If I could trade her life for mine…She’d be standing here right now. And you would smile, and that would be enough.”
Red stays quiet. Her face has no emotion on it. Just sadness. Chloe knew Red would never truly forgive her.
“But I’m not afraid…I know who I married. Just let me stay here by your side…That would be enough.”
Red looks to Chloe for a second before looking back down to Violet's grave. Her face is still emotionless.
‘There are moments that the words don’t reach
There is a grace too powerful to name
We push away what we can never understand
We push away the unimaginable
Chloe by Red's side.'
She takes her hand, still looking at the grave, but now tears are forming in her eyes. “It's quiet uptown.”
Forgiveness. Can you imagine? After all Chloe had put her through. After her daughter died because of her. She still forgives.
If you see her in the street, walking by her side, talking by her side , have pity. They are going through the unimaginable…
