Chapter Text
you say
that a mothers love
for her daughter is
unconditional.
but i know
that it is not
you love unconditionally for the perfect daughter you hold in your head
for the girl that is
god fearing
republican
straight.
the girl that will marry a man,
give you grandchildren.
the girl that does not remind you
of your own mother.
yet,
i am not god fearing
i am not even god believing.
i am not republican
or straight.
i might not marry a man
or give you grandchildren.
i remind you of your mother.
you say
that your love
is unconditional.
but it is not.
you may love me,
but not all of me.
you only love the part of me that fits your perfect image
the part of me that is not a walking sin.
your love is unconditional,
but only for the daughter
i cannot pretend to be.
