Chapter Text
Mischa watched as Noel walked towards him, they had been there for about a year, and he had never felt happier. When he was with him it was like all of his problems were lifted off of him and the only thing that was on his mind was Noel. and he was finally okay, for once in his life. It was like as soon as he entered Uranium, everything went to shit extremely fast.
And now he was here.
He wished that he could go back and tell his younger self that he would eventually be okay. And that he didn’t have to worry, because someday, somebody would love him even more than he’d anticipated.
Because right now he was living the future that the younger him needed.
“Hi, Misch!” Noel said, coming up to the Ukrainian boy who looked like he was thinking about something.
“Oh, hello poet,” Mischa said, his face breaking out into a grin as he pulled Noel closer,
Noel smiled as he brought the movies it gave them, Mischa had already asked for the Saw movies, (which definitely traumatized him in a way that he didn’t expect) and he asked for The Blue Angel, which made Mischa sob, it was just a silly movie night that day, and now they were laying on the floor, pretending to stare up into the black nothingness, but in reality they were staring at each other,
“Poet,” Mischa started to say, looking at The Blue Angel screen on the projector, the same one Noel used to see Mischa on, “Are we really about to see the saddest movie in the world when we’re being this cute?” He said, knowing that The Blue Angel wasn’t something that he really wanted to watch right now, especially because he didn’t want to cry that day,
Noel rolled his eyes with a smile, finding his boyfriend endearing, he turned off the projector,
“Fine,” he said with a smile, “but I will not watch Saw today either, that’s way too scary for me,” he said, watching Mischa’s face turn from a shocked expression to a smile,
“Fine poet, but I will get you to watch it either way, you can’t resist me,” he said with a smirk,
“Constance is making some stuff, you want some?” Noel asked, sitting up slightly, Mischa perked up,
“You know I do, poet” he replied, pecking him on the cheek. There wasn’t any hunger in the afterlife, but Constance’s baking was just that good.
They walked out, holding hands, to where Constance was, giving out cookies,
Ocean rolled her eyes as they came together, hand in hand.
“Homophobe!” He yelled out as he took the cookie from Constance.
“I literally have a girlfriend Noel, that doesn’t even make sense! You guys are just too showy,” She said, showing her visible disgust.
“Okay, and? You and Constance stick each other’s tongues down your throats and you don’t see anyone saying anything about it!” Noel said, annoyed at Ocean, Ocean rolled her eyes.
‘Well, actually I would like to not see Ocean and Constance kissing everywhere I go,’ Ricky signed, leaving Ocean to laugh,
“As if you and Savannah don’t do that every single futher mucking day!?” She exclaimed, Ricky rolled their eyes
‘The least we did was hold hands and kiss a few times! You guys are literally making out every minute like your life depended on it!’ Ricky signed, annoyed, Constance rolled her eyes with a little smile as she gave another cookie to Mischa who was begging her for one,
“Guys, chill the fuck out,” Constance said amidst the shouting of everyone else, Noel laughed as Ocean reprimanded her own girlfriend for cursing.
“Poet, get all the cookies now! They’re distracted, Go!” Mischa said with a smirk, knowing that Constance made the best cookies, better than most of the cookies he had ever had. He was honestly surprised with how amazing the quality was, considering how crappy the materials were,
Noel laughed as Mischa said this, thinking it was a joke, but then Mischa ran past him and snatched the bag of cookies from where Constance was standing, which left Noel laughing even harder.
“Misch, I didn’t actually think you’d do it!” Noel exclaimed as Mischa chuckled,
“We have to run now, poet!” Mischa said, pulling his hand and bringing him towards the room that they were originally in,
Once they arrived, Mischa put the cookies away, smiling at Noel, Noel smiled back, and then started to play The Blue Angel on the projector,
“Poet! We talked about this!” Mischa whined he knew that he didn’t necessarily mind, as long as Noel was happy, he was happy, and that was always how he felt, because Noel and the choir were the only things that he could look forward to in his life, and he was just glad that he had them.
“Well..too bad Misch!” Noel said with a snicker,
Mischa frowned, feigning sadness, while Noel laughed and started playing the movie, it was something that could calm him down, and it would be something that he could enjoy with his boyfriend, (no matter how much he sobbed,)
As the movie went on, neither Noel nor Mischa was paying attention to it, instead, they were paying attention to eachother, being unable to keep their eyes off eachother,
“Hey, Misch, what did you think of me the first time you saw me?” He asked with a smile on his face, as the movie went on. He barely remembered the first time that they met, all he remembered was crying in the field, and him asking Noel if he wanted vodka, which, probably wasn’t the best thing to ask him at the time,
“Well, I guess I thought you had issues, and..you were definitely an..overall, mentally fucked up human being, but, I also thought you were sweet, you weren’t like anyone else in that god awful school, you..you were like that sliver of hope that was there in a sea of hopelessness, you know?” He said, knowing that he was the only thing that he looked forward to, he was the reason that he would at least try to be on time to choir, but after the choir left, he felt so goddamn alone, and..and he missed the people who he thought he couldn’t stand,
Noel laughed, knowing that most people thought that he was making up his issues, it made him smile knowing that Mischa thought that he was tragic and a fucked up human being, it also made him smile knowing that Mischa saw him as a sweet person as well,
“Well..that’s sweet! I..uh—thought you were a random crazy person who gave me vodka after I finished crying, but, basically the same thing!” Noel said with a laugh,
“Gruber!! That vodka was a good vodka!” Mischa exclaimed jokingly, leading Noel to laugh,
“I..I didn’t know who I was before I met you, I didn’t really know where I belonged? The choir was a group of people I had, and the people I worked with, but they really just tolerated me, you actually understand me, you are the best thing that has ever happened to me Misch,” Noel said, leaning his head onto his shoulder, Mischa could feel those words in his chest, he never found anyone he could really relate to, he could never find a person who he could talk to freely, but as soon as Noel Gruber entered his life, he was finally found, he was finally complete,
“I didn’t know who I was either poet, I didn’t really have anything as I moved to Uranium, and sure I had some homies, but they weren’t very good homies, I didn’t talk to them much and they hated everyone I think, and then, when I found the choir and you, it was as if everything was put into place, well, I hated most of the choir before, but you were really an exception, love,” he said with a smile, bringing Noel closer to him, he was really in love, and God, did it feel amazing,
They sat in silence afterwards. Waiting for someone to start the conversation,
And after a moment later, Mischa heard Noel’s voice above it all,
“I love you, Misch”
“I love you too,”
Maybe the time had come, maybe the time had come to for them to finally be peaceful, together no matter what came their way, because throughout it all they still had each other and that was all they needed,
