Chapter Text
You and the rest of the remaining Tulpar crew were found, rescued, and brought back to Earth five days ago.
Unfortunately, all of you had to be placed under strict hospital surveillance due to the extended time spent in space with limited food supplies.
This also meant Daisuke couldn’t keep his promise. On top of that, the doctors had to address the emergency cauterization you had performed on him.
—
You were nestled in your hospital bed, wrapped in blankets, half-watching a dull documentary on TV when a soft knock on the door caught your attention.
"Hi? It’s Daisuke. Can I come in?"
Your eyes widened in surprise.
Daisuke? At this hour?
Not that you weren’t delighted he was here, but it was unexpected—especially given his injuries were more severe than yours.
“Daisuke, yes, please come in.”
The door creaked open, and there he was.
Daisuke, looking pale and drawn from his condition, stood in the doorway clutching a bag filled with chips and sweets from the hospital vending machine.
"I—I’m sorry we couldn’t go on a date right away… curse all this hospital crap."
You couldn’t help but smile. “Don’t feel bad, Daisuke, seriously. I completely understand. Are you okay, though?”
He nodded, stepping closer to your bed. “Yeah. I had surgery. Woke up this morning… I’m not really supposed to be here.”
Feeling playful, you grinned. “Aw, breaking the rules because you missed me?”
He met your gaze, his voice sincere. “I did, yeah. I missed you. And I still owe you a date, so… I got us some snacks. Let’s have a hospital room date. What do you think?”
Your heart fluttered as you scooted over to make space. “I think… it’s perfect.”
—
For the next couple of hours, the two of you talked about everything and nothing.
From memories of life on Earth to how much you were both going to miss Anya, and even the lasting scars this entire ordeal had left on you.
At some point, Daisuke placed his hand over yours, a quiet gesture of reassurance. As you explained how losing Anya and surviving the crash had affected you, your voice cracked, and tears welled in your eyes.
“I’m so sorry,” you murmured, wiping at your cheeks.
“Hey, don’t apologize,” he said softly. “We lost someone we cared about. We were stranded on an asteroid for months. It’s okay to cry. Never apologize for that.”
Despite the tears, you found yourself smiling, the warmth of his words settling in your chest.
Daisuke’s other hand reached up to gently cradle the back of your head, his fingers threading through your hair. “When we finally get out of here, I promise—like actually promise—I’ll take you out. No interruptions, no excuses.”
You laughed softly, your tears now mixing with a hopeful smile. “You’re lucky I really, really like you. Guess I’ll have to find my prettiest dress for our big date.”
His hands shifted, intertwining with yours, and before you realized it, your faces had drawn so close together that your noses brushed.
“I feel… more than just ‘like’ for you,” he admitted, his voice trembling slightly. “I—I love you. You’re amazing.”
Your cheeks flushed, your heart skipping a beat. “I love you too,” you whispered. “So… shall we share our first kiss now?”
Daisuke’s lips curved into a smile, his eyes locked on yours. “With pleasure.”
And as the world outside faded away, your lips met in a tender kiss that felt like the start of a beautiful relationship.
