Chapter Text
“Agatha,” Rio said, lowering her voice in a way that sent sparks up her wife’s spine.
Agatha glanced at her, eyes dark and warning. “Yes, Rio?”
“I’m afraid I won’t be able to make the rent this month,” Rio said, leaning in to brush Agatha’s hair away from her face. “Surely there’s another way I could… repay you.”
Agatha turned fully, pressing a finger under Rio’s chin, forcing her gaze up from Agatha’s lips to her eyes. “So handsome,” Agatha murmured. “Perhaps we could come to an arrangement, my love.”
Rio’s breath caught, and she leaned in until their faces were just centimetres apart. “I–”
“What the fuck are you two doing?” Jen snapped, smacking the table aggressively and breaking the spell between Agatha and Rio. “This is Monopoly, you heathens.”
Val was cackling and Lilia’s face was in her hands. Alice looked like she was about to bolt, and Billy was definitely going to follow her. Thankfully, Nicky and Lily were in the kitchen getting snacks.
Agatha sat back, feigning composure as she flicked Rio’s thigh gently under the table.
“You liked it,” Rio whispered with a shit eating grin. “Don’t lie to me, sweetheart.”
The corner of Agatha’s mouth twitched up, but she didn’t dignify her wife with a response. God, she loved calling Rio her wife. It had only been four months since their wedding, and they were happy. They were so happy.
“Mami,” Nicky called from the kitchen. “Can you help me and Lily get the popcorn off the shelf?”
“Why didn’t you ask for me?” Agatha called playfully as Rio got up to help him.
“Mami’s taller,” Lily shot back in explanation, making the entire table burst into laughter.
“Shut up,” Agatha grumbled. “She’s like one inch taller than me.”
Rio and the kids came back with a bowl of popcorn and a bag of gummy sharks. Agatha wasn’t quite sure where the sharks had come from, they were probably Alice’s.
Monopoly continued with the charming chaos that was the Coven’s trademark.
“Lilia, you can’t rob the bank,” Rio protested. “That’s cheating.”
Lilia elbowed her with a scowl. “And I would’ve gotten away with it if you hadn’t said anything, c’mon kid.”
“I’m like several centuries old,” Rio reminded her with a pout.
Unfortunately, Monopoly ended a little bit early when Agatha almost flipped the table over Jen taking her last railroad.
“Kale, you absolute bit–” Agatha paused. Bitch, she finished in her mind, keeping her composure outwardly. Her kids were staring at her and she wasn’t about to put another dollar in that damn swear jar–it would be her twentieth dollar that week.
Jen cackled evilly, and Agatha gripped the edges of the table, narrowing her eyes.
Val quickly snapped her fingers, clearing the Monopoly board off of the table magically and putting all of the pieces back in the box. Sharon ran to get another game before the whole thing actually got out of hand.

So maybe playing Scrabble with a bunch of English teachers wasn’t a great ego boost. Rio did teach a creative writing class, but apparently Scrabble was a Coven tradition that they’d been perfecting for decades. This was Rio’s first time playing, and it was… interesting.
It wasn’t like Monopoly, where all of the danger was loud and upfront. This danger was some crazy, psychological shit.
The table was completely silent as the group cast suspicious but controlled glances at each other. Shockingly, Agatha hadn’t stolen a single tile the entire time. She was a bit of an evil mastermind, having cheated her way through most games they played, but never Scrabble. Agatha always won fair and square at Scrabble.
Nicky and Lily were about at Rio’s level of Scrabble understanding, and they were having a great time.
“Can I make ‘abhor’?” Lily asked, wiggling around in his seat. “That’s a word, right? They said it in Frankenstein. ”
“I’m gonna make ‘apoptosis’,” Nicky decided. “Which is programmed cell death.”
Lilia snorted, “yeah, kid, we know. We’ve all been subjected to your mami’s lectures more than once.”
“Hey,” Rio frowned. “I thought you liked my lectures.”
“I do,” Lilia assured her. “I was kidding.”
“Oxyphenbutazone,” Agatha said calmly, laying down the tiles and ignoring Jen’s look of absolute outrage. Sure, Agatha could be a little overly dramatic at times, but she was also a fucking genius and wasn’t afraid to show off.
Unsurprisingly, Agatha won. She was smug about it, which also wasn’t surprising. Rio found that she didn't mind. Agatha was grinning unapologetically, she looked so happy.
Rio couldn’t help but press a kiss to Agatha’s cheek. Jen groaned dramatically, earning a laugh from Alice.
“You two are so cute,” Val cooed, snapping a picture. “That’s going on the fridge as soon as I figure out how the printer works.”

Settlers of Catan was a strategy game, and Rio and Agatha were having a blast. The group had paired up. Rio and Agatha were on one team, Jen and Lilia were together, Alice was with Val, Lily and Nicky were playing together, and Sharon still hadn’t figured out the rules so she decided to pass on playing.
Agatha was a strategist, she always had been. Rio kept her from stealing shit and cheating most of the time, but some of it was allowed. Val and Alice just started going after all of the sheep in the game for whatever reason, they had basically nothing but sheep.
Nicky and Lily were actually a pretty formidable team, they fought for control of the board with their moms. Jen and Lilia also made a good team, and the three duos were in a ridiculously long and complicated power struggle for… a while.
“Does anyone need a sheep?” Alice asked. “We have sheep.”
“I know,” Jen sighed. “But you can’t just give people sheep, babe.”
“Can I have a sheep?” Nicky asked innocently. “Please?”
Alice handed over the sheep, ignoring the glares in her direction.
The entire thing had provided a solid distraction for Agatha to do a bit of thievery, and she and Rio built another road on their next turn.
Eventually, Rio and Agatha won and it was time for Nicky and Lily to go to bed. The kids protested the entire time, but they went to sleep eventually.

Rio and Agatha were on breakfast duty the next morning. Saturday mornings with the Coven were calm. Most people didn’t wake up too early, with the Harkness-Vidals usually being the first. Agatha, while she was relatively collected on weekday mornings, absolutely hated the early hours of the day.
Golden light filtered in through the windows as Agatha wrapped her arms around Rio’s waist, resting her chin on Rio’s shoulder and muttering something unintelligible.
“I assume you want your coffee,” Rio said with a grin, she also wasn’t much of a morning person, but she was awake enough that she could at least form full sentences. “It’s over there on the counter.”
Nicky and Lily were in the other room watching cartoons, and they both said a mumbled ‘good morning mom’ before turning back to the screen.
Agatha smiled at them, going to grab her coffee and passing Rio all of the ingredients she needed. They made pancakes, it was soft and quiet.
Rio took a second to marvel at the scene, and caught Agatha doing the same.
“I never thought I could have this,” Agatha admitted quietly.
Rio pressed a kiss to her cheek. “Neither did I, but we’re here now, my love.”
Agatha held Rio’s hand, lacing their fingers. “We’re here,” she agreed idly. “You brought me here.”
“You’re Agatha Harkness, you brought yourself here,” Rio corrected her. “I was just along for the journey.”
“And what a journey it's been,” Agatha said with a little smile that made Rio want to wrap her in magic and protect her from the world forever.
“What a journey,” Rio parrotted. “And it’s far from over, Harkness.”
“I wouldn’t have it any other way, Vidal.”
