Summary
Michael "Robby" Robinovich just finished his fourth of July shift and is headed on his sabbatical, which he describes as three months on his motorcycle on the open road, but is in reality his carefully planned suicide. It's been a long time coming.
Only problem is, in an uncharacteristically romantic gesture, he asked Dennis Whitaker to housesit for him. Robby likes the idea of it, of Dennis having his place, being comfortable and taken care of, even after Robby's dead. It's not like he can tell Whitaker he's been in love with him for almost a year. There's no way he'd ever feel the same way, he's just a kid. It's better this way.
When they meet to exchange keys, a series of complications—and Whitaker being a motorcycle virgin—throw off Robby's plan to hit the road and get to dying as fast as possible. But it's just a short delay. What's the worst that could happen?

Abbot raises his eyebrows, not actually looking that surprised. “May I ask what brought this on?”
“Just…” avoiding my ex-not-even-girlfriend? Probably not the best thing to say. “Just looking for a new experience. I feel like I could learn a lot from working nights.”
