Chapter Text
Part 1: January 2024
Imagine, Omega Ghost upset because he can’t fit into any of Alpha Soap’s hoodies.
“Johnny,” he whines sadly, “I can’t fit into any of your hoodies.”
A smile appears on the Scots face as he glances over “That’s cause yer a big lad, Lt.” Chuckling at the sight of his mate curled up in a nest of his clothes “Besides, I think yer got ma entire wardrobe in there with ye.”
Ghost huffs and shifts around the nest “It’s not the same as being able to wear one.”
“Dinnae know ye’d get grumpy over a hoodie, Lt. If yer that bothered about it, I cen just wear one of yers to make em smell like me.” but the Omega just shakes his head.
“I don’t wanna wear one of mine. I wanna wear one of yours,” he whines, peering up at the Scot with puppy eyes “Please?”
Those puppy eyes, along with his pleading tone and pout, was enough to make Soap give in.
“Alright, alright. How about this - I buy some hoodies in a bigger size? Still be ma hoodies but big enough for ye to wear. I’ll buy 'em just for ye.”
Ghost’s face lights up immediately “Really?”
“I’d do anythin’ to make ma Lt happy.”
A few days later Ghost curls up in his nest again, this time wearing one of Soap’s new hoodies.
“Happy, Lt?” the Scot calls and he smiles.
“Smells just like you, Johnny.”
Soap smiles as he watches his mate settle down in his nest, knowing it would only be a matter of time before Ghost starts eating for two and complains about the hoodies again.
Part 2: Early July 2024
And Soap was right. Soon enough, Ghost was eating for two. For the first few months he was content with sleeping most of the day away in his nest, wearing Soap’s hoodies.
However, around the five month mark, he began to grow more frustrated as his bump started to show and was struggling to fit into the hoodies.
“Ye okay, Lt?” The scot calls as the omega throws yet another hoodie out of the nest.
“They’re not…they won’t-” he cuts himself off with a huff, looking up at him with disheartened eyes “None of them fit, Johnny.”
A soft smile starts to appear on Soap’s face as he gazes from his face to the bump “Ye’ve got a wee bump now. Ma hoodies won’t cover it for long-”
“But I want them! I want them to fit! Buy more - You have to buy more, Johnny.” He pleads as he shakes the hoodies but Soap crosses his arms.
“I’m not buying any more. Yer beautiful as ye are, Lt.”
“You tell me that everyday, Johnny, but I just want your hoodies!”
“I’m not lettin’ ye cover yerself or that gorgeous wee bump yer growin’.”
Ghost pouts and flops back in the nest with a huff, Soap softens and slowly walks towards the nest, glancing at his mate for his permission. He huffs but rolls over slightly, allowing the scot to climb in behind him and gently cradle the little bump.
“I love this,” Soap whispers softly as he traces his fingers over his mate’s stomach. “I love everything about ye, Lt, but this goes to the top of ma list of what I love about ye.”
“Don’t love me enough to buy more hoodies.” Came the grumpy reply and he chuckles.
“I’m buying all the snacks ye crave and ye’ve got ma entire wardrobe in here. I think we cen compromise.”
“You call this-” Ghost gestures to his bump “-a compromise? I’m doing most of the work here, Johnny.”
“Aye and I cannae think of anyone better to do it.” He pauses for a moment before saying “I’ll be forever grateful for this, the fact that yer willing to build a family with me.”
His mate sighs softly and places a hand over his “Me too, Johnny. Me too.”
“Like I said before, and I’ll tell ye this everyday if I have to, yer beautiful Lt.” he says, pressing a gentle kiss to Ghost’s temple. “And I promise ye cen steal as many of ma hoodies as ye want once our wee bairn arrives.”
“You better do, Johnny. I’m working hard here.”
“I will. Anythin’ to make ma Lt happy.” Soap murmurs with a soft smile on his face.
Part 3: Mid-November 2024
It has been a long nine, almost ten, months and Ghost has had enough - all the poor omega wants to do is sleep.
Curling up in his nest (after a long day of bathroom breaks and kicks) he tries to get some much needed shut-eye. However, as he starts drifting off a sharp kick to the ribs jolts him awake and he grunts.
“He kickin’ again, Lt?” his mate appears outside the nest and he nods, grunting again as another kick is felt.
Soap grimaces slightly and carefully climbs into the nest “Hello, ma wee lad,” he whispers to the bump, hoping to soothe the little pup “Ye missed me?”
Ghost smiles and tangles his fingers in the younger man’s short strands “He always calms down when he hears his old man’s voice.”
“Aye.” The scot replies with a lopsided grin “He recognises ma accent - it’s the scot in him.”
“Not this again!” Ghost groans, already having enough of Soap’s constant reminders about the pup’s heritage.
“What? Half Englishman like his Dad and half Scot like his old man - he’s the perfect wee combo,” he chuckles and presses a gentle against the skin “Ain’t that right, Finnie?”
The bump moves a little under his touch and the omega huffs, signifying another kick “Don’t encourage him, Johnny - And his name is Finlay.”
“Only because ye won’t let me call him Fionnlagh like a true Scot!”
“We compromised.” He responded with a gesture to the bump. “This is a compromise. Isn't that what you said, Johnny?”
Soap just rolls his eyes whilst Ghost continues with a playful smile “You know me so well, Johnny. It’s like we were made for each other.”
He hums in confirmation, glancing around the nest with a furrowed brow “Where’s ye two hoodies, Lt?”
“You mean the ones you tried to sew together?”
Soap whinces slightly, remembering how he tried to sew two of his hoodies together to create a super baby-bump hoodie for his mate.
Ghost had been upset at first, having seen the destroyed hoodies on the floor, but he quickly forgave Soap when he realised the effort the scot had put in just to make him happy.
“Yes, I remember and I decided to do something with them.”
“Dinnae tell me ye threw them away, Lt.”
“Never, Johnny.” He slowly sits up, a hand resting gently on his bump as he reaches over the side of the nest - Soap goes to help but quickly sits back after being waved away. Eventually, Ghost finds what he is looking for and hands a small, wrapped package to his mate “Open it, Johnny.”
The scot does as he is told, gasping as he opens the gift to reveal a small, handmade hoodie with “Finlay” sewn on the front in black and white letters.
“I thought it’d be nice for him to have his own little hoodie, made from his old man’s hoodie and with love from his Dad-...Johnny?”
“Oh, Lt.” Soap gazes at him with water-filled eyes “It’s beautiful.” He looks at the hoodie again, running his thumb over the letters “It’s perfect - Perfect for our wee lad.”
“Don’t cry, Johnny. You’ll set me off.”
“Sorry, Lt,” he wipes his eyes. “I just cannae help but imagine what our pup’ll look like in this.”
Ghost smiles softly and rubs his bump as the pup kicks again. “Not long left now…”
“Aye,” Soap looks back at his mate, pressing a loving kiss to his lips, then leans down and gently nuzzles his stomach “And we cannae wait to meet ye, Finnie.”
Part 4: 6th December 2024
“Finlay Riley-MacTavish.” Tears well in the Scots’ eyes as he holds the small, squirming bundle in his arms, voice cracking slightly as he speaks “Welcome to the world, ma wee lad.” He gently runs a finger over the pup’s tufts of blond hair, bright, blue eyes blinking up at him. “Oh he’s perfect, Lt.” The tears threaten to spill down his cheeks as he glances from Finlay to his exhausted mate.
A weak smile appears on the omega’s face as he rasps “We did it, Johnny.”
“Nae, ye did it, Lt. This-” he looks back at their pup, blinking back tears “-this is all ye. He looks just like ye.”
Ghost smiles again and gazes at his family through half-closed eyes, “He looks like a Finlay.”
“Aye, ye picked a good name.”
The Brit gives him a knowing look. “Better than you wanting to just call him Riley MacTavish.”
“It was like a two-in-one!” Soap protests with a soft chuckle “Good thing we had a little extra time, aye Lt?”
He hums in confirmation, his eyes focused on the bundle “Little man decided to be two weeks late.”
“Nae, he just wanted to be an early Christmas present, didnae ye Finnie?” The pup just smacks his lips in response, seemingly unfazed by his late arrival.
“We bought his present with us, if you remember?”
Soap raises an eyebrow, then nods and gently transfers Finlay to the omega’s waiting arms. He smiles fondly at the sight, taking a moment to admire his little family before reaching over for their hospital bag.
“We puttin’ it on him now?”
“Of course, Johnny. Need a good picture to send Gaz and Price.”
After a few moments of rummaging through the bag, Soap pulls out the hand-made hoodie.
“I cannae believe he cen finally wear this.”
“We’ve waited long enough for this moment.”
Soap carefully helps Ghost slip the hoodie onto the pup “Look at that, Lt.” He murmurs fondly, nuzzling the top of his head “Fits him perfectly.”
“I’ll be glad when I can fit back into yours.” The older male mutters gruffly.
“Yer beautiful as ye are, Lt - Ye should be proud of yerself.” He replies softly. Finlay starts to squirm but he quickly soothes him “Ye’ve just carried this gorgeous wee pup for us.”
A faint smile tugs at the omega’s lips “You’re such a sap, Johnny.”
“Aye, always have been, always will be.”
“Are you going to take that photo of him or not?”
“I’ve got a better idea.” He wraps an arm around his mate’s shoulders, smiling at the phone he holds in his free hand “Say cheese, Lt.” and he takes their first family photo.
