Summary
Ghost had locked the door behind him within seconds, mask ripped off and forgotten, the feral creature within him screaming at the sight of a terrified Fledgling. Fledglings should not be scared. Fledglings should be cradled close and held away from the world, safe from the humans and other monsters who would dare to harm them. Fledglings should be warm with fresh blood from their Sire, teething like a newborn babe, and purring in delight while the venom works through their system peacefully. Fledglings' eyes should not be red.

Summary
Simon "Ghost" Riley is adjusting to civilian life after being honourably discharged, recovering from nerve damage, and barely leaving the house. He didn’t mean to lie. He just wanted Price to stop hovering like an overprotective mum. So when asked if he was seeing anyone, Ghost blurts out a lie to shut him up: he has a boyfriend. Problem solved – until Price invites said imaginary boyfriend to Christmas dinner.
When Gaz hears about it, he immediately calls bullshit. And then decides to step in to help.
Enter John "Soap" MacTavish: Gaz’s childhood friend, chaos incarnate, and a civilian working in private security who loves a good disaster. When Gaz asks for help, Soap agrees immediately. Pretending to be someone’s boyfriend for a holiday event? Sign him up.
Ghost expects awkward dinners and limited contact. What he gets is text messages at midnight, inside jokes, Soap knowing exactly how to help without being asked, and a growing problem: this was never supposed to feel real.

Summary
“I’m not gay, Lt.”
Time froze for a long moment. Ghost wasn’t expecting that answer at all.
You meant to tell him that after all those longing stares, the praise seeking, licking his lips, Soap wasn’t into men?
He tilted his head, eyes narrowed as he leaned in even closer, until he could feel the heat of Soap’s body emanating from him, “That right?”
“Yep. Straight as a ruler.”
He knew what he saw. There was no way Soap was completely straight. No straight man ogled another man like that, licking his lips and begging for his praise like an over-eager mutt. Surely, he was in denial. That was the only conclusion Ghost could come to.
Instead of feeling discouraged, a slow grin spread across his face. As a soldier, he was well-versed with the idea that one defeat didn’t mean he lost the war. He would make Soap realize his desires, picking at his soft points until he broke and admitted it himself.
This was going to be fun.
