Stan,
It’s good to hear from you again. I almost don’t believe it’s been eight years since you moved away.
I showed Kenny and Cartman your letter. Eric is the same as ever, and Kenny’s already working a few minimum wage jobs at once. They both send their regards.
I’m sorry I didn’t write back to you earlier. I was really busy with basketball tryouts and rescheduling classes and getting my license. I made the team, at least.
A lot has changed since you left. I don’t think you’d miss it any longer after I tell you everything that’s happened. I would have to write you a whole book to say it all.
I’ve enclosed a few photos from the past couple years. A picture speaks a thousand words, as they say. I wouldn’t mind hearing more about your time in Tennessee, if you want to write back.

Stan stared at the letter for a second before setting it down. He glanced over it again, reminded of the way Kyle always took extra time to write in cursive. It clearly paid off; his handwriting was tight and neat, like you would see it on the Declaration of Independence.
Stan shook definitely more than a few photos out from the envelope, ranging from poorly taken Polaroids to real professional-looking ones. Every one of them had a date scrawled on them somewhere, front or back.
He sifted through the pile before sticking them and the letter back in the envelope. He would take them upstairs, look at them, write back later. It felt like he was asleep, like he’d blink and it’d all be gone and he’d forget about it in a few seconds.
Stan turned the envelope over in his hands. It wasn’t anything special, just the plain white type you’d get at the dollar store. Hell, Kyle wrote the letter on a half-sheet of notebook paper. But looking at the return address in the corner, recognizing the numbers and the street…
Kyle really wrote back.
