Parrot never expected her long-time crush to ask her out on a random Tuesday after school but it also meant she didn’t need to do it herself so she definitely isn’t complaining. She recalls how nervous he seemed when he spoke to her, undoubtedly, she wouldn’t be able to work up the courage that he had.
She woke up way earlier than usual this morning so she would have ample time to get ready. However, she was now stuck with the problem of not knowing what to wear. Reluctantly, she decided to text Jumper for advice.
Parrot, Jumper
Parrot: Yo
Jumper: hii!!
Parrot: Can you help me choose what to wear
Parrot: I’ve got a date today
Jumper: oh???
Jumper: how long do u have to get ready?
Parrot: I have 2 hours until I need to leave the house
Jumper: omw rn
Parrot: ??
Parrot: I was just going to send you pictures and then you can choose
Jumper: im helping u get ready

Not long after, Parrot heard a knock at her door. She opened it to let Jumper in and they immediately went to Parrot’s room.
“Sooo, who’s this person you're dating?” Jumper cheerfully asked as she picked out a white shirt with a square neckline from Parrot’s closet.
“It's Wifies, he asked me out a few days ago. We’re going to a cafe.”
Jumper nodded in response. “Oh yeah, you’ve liked him for a while now haven’t you?”
She held out two different coloured cardigans, a sage green one and a baby blue one. She let her friend pick which one she liked more. Parrot pointed to the blue one and Jumper placed the green cardigan back into the closet.
“What about this skirt?” Jumper handed Parrot a short white skirt decorated with bows. She takes it and puts it on the bed with the other clothes they picked out.
“I’ll leave the room so you can change, and then I’ll do your makeup.” Jumper walks out and closes the door.
After changing, Jumper comes back in. Parrot is glad that her friend is helping her, she’d probably look like a clown if she did her makeup herself considering she’s still learning. She puts on a headband to get her bangs out of her face and Jumper begins her work.
She blends the foundation and concealer on her face, then moves on to blush which she uses a colour stick on Parrot’s cheek and nose, then she blends it with a brush.
“Close your eyes.”
Jumper applies glitter pink eyeshadow onto the eyelids.
“Open your eyes now, and look up.”
She takes the eyelash curler and curls her eyelashes. She sets the curler down and opens the mascara bottle. She applies two coats on each eye.
Finally, she puts lip gloss onto her lips and spreads it across. Parrot presses her lips together to evenly distribute it. Jumper closes the bottle and hands it to Parrot.
“All done! Here, you should take this with you. You might need to reapply it since you’re going to be eating.”
Parrot puts it into her handbag. “Thanks, Jumper.”
Jumper smiles at her. “Of course, anytime.”

The sun shone brightly in the light blue sky as Parrot walked to the cafe. She could hear her heart beating in her chest, she repeatedly tells herself to calm down, it’s just Wifies after all.
But it's Wifies, one of her best friends and the guy she had been in love with for a long time now.
By the time she arrived, he was already there, he was leaning back on a wall, completely engrossed on his phone at the entrance of the cafe.
She walks up to him with full intentions of jumpscaring him. “Hi.”
She was successful as he jumps at the sudden noise but immediately relaxes when he realises who it was.
“Hey, you look pretty.” He smiles at her and takes her hand in his.
Parrot blushes at the compliment. “This cafe looks nice.”
The place looks cozy, the walls were painted in pastel colours and there was a lingering scent of freshly baked goods and coffee in the air.
They settled for a table near the window, Wifies took the seat across from her. She took the menu and started scanning the options.
“Do you know what you’re going to get? I’ll go to the counter and order for the both of us.” Wifies leaned forward and put his elbow on the table, resting his chin on his hand.
Parrot puts the menu down and moves it to the side. “Yeah, can you get a milk tea and a matcha crepe cake for me?”
Wifies nodded and stood up. “Okay, I’ll be right back.”
It doesn’t take long until he returns with the food and beverages. He sets down both of their stuff on the table, Parrot slides her order towards herself.
Wifies takes a sip of his strawberry milk tea. “Did you do your makeup yourself? It looks really nice.”
Parrot shakes her head. “No, Jumper did it for me. I’m still learning how to so it’d look bad if I did it.”
Wifies hummed and dug his fork into the cake. “I mean, you probably would look pretty regardless. You always look good, with or without makeup.”
Parrot rolled her eyes fondly. “How flattering.”
“It’s true though.”
She bit into the piece of cake on her fork. “This cake’s sweet, just like you.”
Parrot smirked as she noticed Wifies’s reaction. For a second, he seemed utterly speechless.
“Wow, I wasn’t expecting that.”
Parrot giggled softly. “I’m full of surprises.”
The afternoon continued with flirty and teasing remarks directed towards each other. Eventually, they both finished their food and drinks. Wifies initially offered to pay for the both of them but Parrot refused to let him pay for everything. In the end, they split the bill between them based on what they ordered themselves.
While eating, some of Parrot’s lip gloss got smudged in the food. This was to be expected, otherwise Jumper wouldn't have told her to bring the bottle along with her. She opened her tube of lip gloss and began to reapply it on her lips. She tucks it back into her purse after she is done.
Wifies glanced at her and an idea popped into his head.
“Can I try some?” He gently grabbed Parrot by the waist and pulled her closer towards him.
She was caught off guard by it at first but then put her arms around his neck.
“You should’ve said so earlier, I just put it in my purse and now I have to get it out again.”
Wifies used his other hand to cup Parrot’s cheek, he moved her face close to him. He could feel the heat rising in her face.
“You don’t need to.” He closes the gap between them and their lips meet.
Parrot brought one of her hands to Wifies’s cheek. Their mouths part for a second and she kisses him again.
Wifies pulls away with a grin. “So uh, do you want to be my girlfriend?”
Parrot softly giggles. “Do you even need to ask? Of course I want to.”
They stayed in each other's arms for a while, focusing only on each other. Some time later, they moved apart, Wifies decided to hold Parrot’s hand instead. They walked along the pavement, chatting and laughing together. After a while, they reached a spot where they’ll have to go their separate ways.
The pair stopped and faced each other.
Wifies held up both of Parrot’s hands. “Thanks for agreeing to this, I had fun.”
She smiled at him. “I’m glad you asked me out.”
He let go of Parrot’s hands and pecked her cheek.
“I’ll see you at school then.”
“Yeah, see you.” She waves him goodbye before walking off.
