Chapter Text
I opened my eyes. Relieved of the pain and the exhaustion I suffered from. Yet that wasn’t even the least of my problems.
Slowly finding my feet, I nearly fell off the cloud which I find myself standing on. Surprisingly managing to hold my ground, or balance is a more fitting word, as I examined my surroundings.
I regained my inhibitor rings back as well as my own gloves. Though they look… chipped and beaten.
Tracing the open sky which I am under, I fixed my gaze onto the pearly white gates that stand in front of me.
“Where am i.”
I managed to say. My words echoing around the blue dome I find myself trapped in. To confused to even begin to register that I had, indeed, died and well… I’m even grateful to even be oblivious to such.
“shadow.”
A word whispered into my ear. So soft and… endearing in a way that brings pain to remember.
Suddenly, a figure appeared in front of the gate which lie ahead. Hooded, with a scythe in hand, it slowly made it’s way to me. A skull mask registered in my mind as it was the entities own face.
I backed away. Not knowing what it’s intent was and how I was even going to confront it.
Suddenly my back hit against something hard, I held my hands in front summoning my power, yet… it was gone.
“who, what are you.” I said, cold and demanding as I gestured to it with my hand. Never breaking its pace, it responded with a smirk on its face.
“you’re supposed to remember who I am, Shadow.”
His voice. No, it can’t be. “sonic.”
“we meet again.” He said. Finally stopping but only a few paces in front of me. He then removed the hood which covered his emerald eyes. it looked odd. Lifeless.
“H-how? You… you can’t be here!” I said, demanding an answer.
Fury blazing like fire among my crimson eyes. Wanting. Needing an answer to this twisted madness. He remained silent. His eyes pointed downward. Not even meeting my own. A silent minute passed. Then another. Till he finally spoke.
“I belong here.”
Silence. One minute passed. Two.
“I’ve always waited for you to arrive. Shadow. So I may accompany you.”
“Accompany me? Where, Heaven?” I chuckled. While also backing off.
“Not sure you have noticed, faker, that I, don’t belong in heaven. These hands have shed enough blood to even be considered holy.”
“not exactly.” he said, he even had the nerve to laugh..
“I’m just here to stay.”
