Chapter Text
Tyler woke up, still upside down. His head hurt from the blood rushing down. He didn't remember much after consuming the alcohol, only the room they were in. Tyler watched as Taylor ran over and tried to get him down. Shortly, Ben, Logan, and Ashlyn joined too. All getting Tyler down. When Tyler was up right and on his feet, he collapsed into Taylor's arms. "Ty!" Was the last thing he heard.
The next thing he remembered was everyone, including Aiden, looking down at him. He sat up and saw that there were bandages on his thigh. "Ty!" Tay exclaimed the moment she realized he was up. She hugged him tight. "Your thigh was real bad Tyler." Ashlyn stated. Tyler nodded as he held his sister close. "You shouldn't have been up there ty..." Taylor whispered "but it's all my fault...If I didn't scare you, you wouldn't have fallen." "It's my fault" Aiden said "not your's Tay. He was on those buses looking for me." Tyler looked shocked "how did you know?"
"because I was in one of the buses near by. I...I saw you fall. I was resting my eyes, I heard Taylor, and when I looked out I saw Tyler fall..." Everyone looked at Aiden, Tyler sighed. "No it's mine. I'm the one that made you upset. I'm sorry Aiden I didn't mean what I said."
"your not wrong. I just wished you never saw that." Aiden looked at his lap. "So," Ashlyn said after quite a bit of silence. "Tyler your not going to the dance tonight anymore, right?"
"dance?" Aiden asked. "There's a school dance tonight. Did no one tell you?" Logan answered. "Nope but I wanna go!" Aiden seemed excited. Tyler smiled at Aiden, something only Taylor caught. She would ask later. "I'm Still gonna go" Tyler said. "You sure-" Taylor began but was cut off by Tyler smiling down at her "I want to go, Tay" she nodded.
Now, there wasn't much to know about their school day, other then this. The whole group watched Aiden and Tyler closely, almost like they were confused. Watching them with a sort of interest. In class, at lunch, on the bus, just whenever Aiden and Tyler were in proximity of each other. They didn't know why.
"how come I didn't notice how bad your leg was?" Aiden asked as they were walking to Ashlyn's house. They were going to meet up there to get ready. Tyler Shrugged "I mean we were running and trying to survive most of the night so you probably missed it" Aiden didn't look convinced "but what about when we were hiding, I should have noticed it then because we were sitting" Tyler shrugged again "you were drunk you probably noticed and didn't care"
"I'm kinda surprised Aiden didn't notice too" Ashlyn remarked, getting a giggle from Taylor. "Me too" Logan agreed "like even drunk he should have noticed" Logan laughed a bit too. Ben smiled at the comments. "Seriously. Someone needs to tell me what is going on." Tyler snapped. All day they've acted weird. "Nothing, Ty" Tay laughed "I'll tell you later" Tyler was gonna ask to be told now, but they were already at Ashlyn's house.
Getting ready wasn't a long task for Tyler and Taylor. Sometimes, randomly, their mom would tell them they had to dress nice. Most times they would be lucky if they were given 30 minutes. Taylor took her time today though, since there wasn't any rush. Tyler however was used to the quick pace. He was already in his suit with a blue tie. He had taken a few minutes to stare in the mirror. Not because he looked good, which he did, but because he hadn't worn a suit since his dad's funeral. And, well, this was his dad's suit.
He tried to be strong and not show much emotion. Taylor reacted differently. She had went to check up on him and teared up when she saw him. "You look just like dad..." She said, looking Tyler up and down. Tyler looked down, trying not to cry as his sister hugged him. After both got their shit together, Tyler sat on the couch watching tiktok.
After an hour and a half, the only one not ready was Aiden. Jeez, how long can putting on a suit really take? They sat in the living room. Taylor swooned over Ashlyn, and ash did the same. Both giggling and telling each other how pretty the other looked. Logan fixed Ben's suit and collar while Ben hugged him.
Tyler had put his phone away, now leaning his head on his palm. He was bored and didn't want to be late. Suddenly, Aiden's voice echoed through the room. "Ladies and gentlemen! Behold the hottest man alive" "GET YOUR ASS OUT HERE!" Tyler yelled. "Jeez ok ok I'm coming." Aiden said, stepping through the doorway.
He wore a suit; it was black and nice. A little too nice to be worn by such a chaotic boy. The pocket on his chest had a yellow smiley face pin on it and a yellow rose. Tyler knew it was fake, he was there when Aiden had bought it. He had a yellow bow tie and his hair, well it was a mess. A hot mess. A scorching mess. So hot that Tyler felt his heartbeat go faster. For a moment he was scared it would go through his chest and run.
"viola!" Aiden presented himself. Ash rolled her eyes "you look good. Lets go" she got up and led them too the car. Taylor called shot gun since Ashlyn was driving. Ben sat next to Logan, which left Tyler and Aiden next to each other.
"Hey half-whit!" Aiden greeted, now squished in the back. Knees and elbows touching. "Hi" Tyler uttered, uninterested in conversation." Did your neck feel weird when you woke up?" Aiden asked, staring at Tyler. Tyler looked out his window "maybe. But I was more focused on the fact that I was hanging upside down." Aiden nodded and rubbed the back of his neck. Tyler didn't feel anything around his own neck.
They arrived at the dance; music was able to be heard from outside. This wasn't Tyler's scene, but inevitably, he was dragged inside. Taylor dragged him by the wrist into the crowded gym. It was your typical high school dance.
Some couples danced way to close to each other. others argued about God knows what. Some kids were in big groups, taking selfies or gossiping. Other kids stood alone, drinking from a red solo cup and scrolling on their phone.
"Taylor Hernandez," Ashlyn lended her hand to Tyler's twin "will you give me the honors of a dance?" Taylor giggled as she took the gingers hand "no need to be so formal" she giggled out "I would love to dance with you."
Tyler watched as his sister was led off into the dance floor. Her purple dress contrasting with Ashlyn's green dress and the bright lights. Tyler turned back to the group to find Logan and Ben walking together in the direction of the dance floor too. Aiden smiled at Tyler "I guess it's just us, Ty! Wanna dance-"
"no." Tyler interrupted. He walked to a few tables that were set up. He sat down and took his phone out, looking for a game to play. Aiden didn't follow, instead he walked to the food table. After a song or two, Taylor and Ashlyn sat at the table with Tyler. Tyler took his gaze off his phone to look at his sister. "You gonna tell me yet?"
"tell you what?"
"why y'all are acting weird."
Taylor giggled, "well last night while you two were drunk-" she couldn't help but stop to laugh a bit. "Hurry up Tay," Ashlyn said, laughing as well "he'll have to find out eventually so let get it over with." Tay took a deep breath before continuing "you and Aiden sort of made out" Taylor shrugged as she gave the info to Tyler. It hit him like a ton of brinks. Him? And Aiden? Making out? No way. Right? "I think you should ask him to dance" Ashlyn suggested as she looked at the food table. Aiden stood there, his red cup in hand, watching his cousin dance with Logan. "Why on earth would I do that?" Tyler asked, snapping out of his thoughts. "He looks lonely" Tay explained as she also looks at the blond. "I-But-No-" Tyler didn't know what to say.
"go ask him" Ashlyn demanded. It was not longer a suggestion. Tyler sighed "I was just getting comfortable." He grumbled as he walked to the table. Aiden's stood there, looking as beautiful as ever under the dim gym lights. He softly smiled as he watched the happy couples. Tyler cleared his throat, grabbing the blonde's attention. "Aiden, will you dance with me?" Aiden's smile grew to something my genuine then the blank one he had prior. "Right to the chase, huh? No 'hey, how are you? you look great tonight?" Aiden teased. Tyler sighed. "Hi, how are you. you look nice." Aiden faked a gasp before giggling "Oh thank you half-wit! I'm great! I would love to dance!'
"you're so extra"
"thank you!"
Tyler rolled his eyes as he followed the shorter one to the dance floor. Tyler wasn't sure what to do, but lucky for him, Aiden was a pro. A slow melody played from the speakers. "So...how do we do this?" Tyler asked with a nervous expression, which made Aiden's smile grow. "Don't worry, I got you half-whit" Aiden took his wrists and guided his hand to lay at the blonde's waist. He wrapped his arms around Tyler's neck, resting his hands against the top of his back. Their bodies pressed together as they danced to the music. Tyler tried to focus on the steps, but his mind was only filled with the blonde in his grasp.
Tyler's mind drifted to the thought of having made out with the boy in front of him. Lips pressed together, tongues intertwined. He hadn't had enough time to process it before Ashlyn was suggesting he dance with the blonde. now that it was processed in his head, his heart pounded in his chest. Aiden's red eyes seemed to glisten in the lighting of this gym, his smiling creating butterflies in his stomach.
Tyler found himself starring at the boy's lips; Aiden noticed a immediately. "Watcha doing?" Aiden smirked, inching his face closer to the taller boy's. Tyler's eyes widened, if he wasn't red before he was now. "Nothing." He answered, trying to keep his voice calm.
"AIDEN CLARK!" a voice echoed within in the crowded gym. Everyone looked in the direction the voice came from.
Daniel Clark. Aidens very much homophobic father...
