Chapter Text

The next morning goes as well as you would expect.

Suguru wakes up first. Unsurprisingly, they end up face to face yet again. Although this time is objectively more severe, not only have they turned to face each other but somehow all of their limbs have ended up intertwined. One of Satoru’s legs has been thrown over Suguru’s and Suguru has an arm over Satoru, practically holding him like a teddy bear.

This is much worse than the fabled floor incident. This time, Suguru won’t be able to move away when Satoru wakes up, since unhooking their limbs seems like a very delicate operation.

And because the universe loves to test him recently, of course Satoru starts to wake up when he’s in the middle of his crisis. He should just get one of his curses to wipe himself out right now. This is the worst.

Satoru’s eyes slowly flicker open, making a small groaning noise. When they fully open, he looks up at Suguru and pauses for a moment, as if taking in the current situation they’re in. After a moment of stillness from the both of them, Satoru closes his eyes again and hides his face in Suguru’s arm.

What is happening?

Suguru decides he should probably break this silence: “Good morning.” He settles on, a very casual opening for whatever the hell is going on right now.

A moment of silence passes until he hears “G’morning Suguru.” from a sleepy voice.

“Did you…sleep well?” passes Suguru’s lips before he can even think about it. Did you sleep well??? What is he even asking???

Satoru nods slightly “I- Yeah. Might be one of my best to be honest…Guess the sleepover was a great idea, huh?” Suguru can’t see his face but he can tell he’s got that signature cheeky smile on his face right now that he loves to pull.

Suguru makes a hum of agreement because he honestly agrees with Satoru. He slept amazingly, he wouldn’t be opposed to more sleepovers if this is how well rested he feels after them. Satoru is very comfortable and he doesn’t have a sore neck like last time.

“Suguru?” Satoru starts.

“Yeah?”

“I’m hungry.”

Suguru can’t help but laugh at that, what a way to change the mood.

“Alright, let’s go make breakfast then.”

They can talk about whatever this is later.

A couple days pass, they’re still having sleepovers. Everyday without fail. And no, they still haven’t talked about it.

They even have a set routine now. They get up, go make breakfast. Suguru does the cooking while Satoru makes the drinks and gets out the plates (he leaves a plate out for Shoko too because usually she comes in to make her toast). They eat together while they chat, then they go back to their own rooms to get changed and get ready for their lessons of the day. Then, once lessons are done they start prepping for dinner, get into their comfy clothes, chill out in Suguru’s room until they fall asleep, and the cycle then repeats the next day.

There’s also been some… developments…in how they sleep.

At first, when they got into bed they’d keep to their back to back positions, but then when they woke up they’d always end up cuddling in some way.

The solution to this? Just skip straight to the cuddling.

Satoru was the one who suggested it.

“Suguru i’m cold.”

“Cold? Do you need another blanket?”

“Nah, just let me use your body heat!”

“Oh… Really?”

“Yeah! We always end up next to each other in the morning anyways, what’s the difference?”

Suguru didn’t have a good argument against that -not that he would’ve wanted one anyways- so he turned to face Satoru and opened his arms so Satoru could climb in and that was that.

The more sleepovers they had, the more natural it all felt.

Instead of feeling tense whenever Satoru was in his arms, Suguru ended up relaxing into it. Waking up next to Satoru no longer felt like a surprise, he now saw it as something to appreciate. It’s become the favourite part of his day.

The whole thing is oddly domestic. It feels weird doing anything without Satoru by his side now.

Their new arrangement has also made them (somehow) even more physically affectionate than before. It’s only small things, no one else would probably pick up on it but Suguru sure does. When they cook dinner, occasionally their fingers would brush against each other, and when they chill on Suguru’s bed they lean against each other more. Suguru’s especially glad that Satoru has made a habit of resting his head on his shoulder.

Today, their routine is unfortunately disrupted. Suguru has to go out on a solo mission, it’s nothing major, just picking up a stray curse and adding it to his lineup. This does mean though that Satoru will have to make and eat his breakfast alone since he has to set off early to catch it in its prime, something Satoru very outwardly opposed last night. He claimed that he’d wake up to at least see Suguru off and say goodbye but, now that morning has come, Suguru doesn’t know if he has the heart to wake him up.

It took about 5 minutes before Suguru was actually able to remove himself from Satoru’s grasp without waking him. He hopes Satoru will forgive him for leaving while he’s asleep, hopefully he can buy him some sweets on the way back to make up for it.

In replacement of Suguru, Satory has subconsciously latched onto a pillow to hold. He looks so sweet like this, Suguru thinks, all peaceful with his messy bed hair. Before his brain can catch up to his body, Suguru leaves a chaste kiss on Satoru’s cheek.

That was risky, that was so risky.

Satoru is his best friend, what is he doing? He needs to leave now before he can make any dumb decisions.

Exorcising the curse helps to clear his mind a little, it’s a great stress reliever. Before he makes the trip home, he buys double the sweets he intended for Satoru just so he feels a bit better about himself.

This situation is REALLY getting out of hand, but how would he even begin to bring this up?

Hey for some reason I’ve been feeling urges to kiss you on the cheek???

He feels completely at a loss. He’s ruining his friendship with Satoru and it’s completely his fault.

When he finally gets back to Jujutsu High, he makes a beeline for one of the vending machines. For the first time, he’s avoiding having to see Satoru. He needs a minute to himself first. The coldness of the drink helps ground him, along with the breeze that passes.

“Woah what happened to you? You look like you’re about to combust.” He hears from behind him, Shoko has appeared out of nowhere.

“I… It’s a long story…” He states simply, because it really is a long story and right now he’d rather wallow in his misery than explain.

Shoko makes a thoughtful “Hm.” and moves to sit next to him on the bench he’s sitting on.

“Could it have anything to do with the fact you’ve started sleeping with Gojo?”.

What.

“Huh!?” Suguru exclaims at question, because what the fuck, until it clicks in his head she’s talking about literal sleeping together.

“Jesus Shoko, PLEASE don’t say it like that.”

“Am I right though?” She raises an eyebrow.

Suguru sighs, Shoko sees completely through him. He’s not escaping this conversation.

“Yeah, I guess. How do you even know about that anyways?”

“Well, this morning I wanted to collect that book you borrowed from me- you’re welcome by the way- and to my surprise it wasn’t you who opened the door. It was Gojo looking like he had freshly rolled out of bed.”

“Ah, so he told you then?” He says while wishing the floor would suck him up right now.

“It wasn’t hard to figure out, but yes he did. Said that you were out today and started telling me about all these…’sleepovers’ you’ve been having” She explains, clearly baffled by whatever the fuck they’ve gotten themselves into. “It definitely explains why you two have been acting differently recently.”

She’s noticed that? Who else has noticed?

His thoughts must be extremely evident on his face because she then follows up with “Relax. It’s not that obvious, I just spend enough time with you idiots to see it. What I’m really curious about is how this shitshow started.”

“Honestly? I don’t know myself. We just had a sleepover one day, and now we’ve been having one every day.”

“In the same bed, yeah?” She questions, as if talking to a child.

“Yeah.”

“And you still haven’t figured it out?”

Suguru can’t hide the evident confusion on his face. Figure out WHAT?

Shoko takes a deep sigh and rubs her temple. “Geto. Not even you can be this dumb, you’ve clearly been stressing over this. So…why is that?”

“It’s like you said I guess… ever since it’s started things have been feeling different between us. Like today I…” Suguru trails off, Shoko is looking at him expectantly. He avoids her eyes and looks down at the floor.

She waves her hands, prompting him to continue “Go on…”

“This is going to sound weird…but I kissed him on the cheek this morning. And it’s like- I don’t know why I did that, but it also felt so natural? I feel like i’m making our friendship weird and I hate it.”

“What if he liked it too? Have you asked him?”

Oh, well, actually he kinda didn’t think about that.

He replies truthfully, “No. He wasn’t awake when it happened and I left before he could.”

Shoko sighs for what must be the tenth time, “Of course you did.” She deadpens. “I guess that’s why you’re moping around here instead of going to him.”

Suddenly, she stands up and looks down at him, hands on her hips. “Look Geto. I’m gonna be straightfoward with you, there’s a reason all this kissing and sharing beds and whatever the fuck feels natural with him.” She becomes a little softer now, placing a hand on his shoulder “She turns softer, placing a hand on his shoulder “You love him, like a lot. He loves you too, in case you were wondering.”.

Suguru’s brain completely cuts out.

Love?

Love is a powerful word, love is scary.

But she’s right,he realises, she’s completely right. It’s love and it always has been, all that time they’ve known each other it’s been there, even if only subtly. It makes so much sense he kind of hates himself for not realizing it sooner, it’s so obvious now.

Those lingering touches, moments of comfortable silence, that light flowy feeling and the way he can never get sick of Satoru’s eyes.

Suguru gasps at the revelation of it all, “Shit.” he says, eyes wide. “You’re right- I love him. Fuck, I love him.”

This is not the end of Suguru’s brain break though, because at this moment it also sinks in that Shoko said Satoru loves him back.

“You think that he…? That he actually..?” Suguru can’t even say it fully, it feels too unreal.

“Yes.” Shoko says plainly, “I’ve never been so sure of something in my life. He acts differently with you than with anyone else, you know that”

Yes, he does know that. He always thought it had to do with the fact they were best friends, but now he sees it. He sees it all. There's always been something deeper between them, something that couldn't quite be put into words.

“I’m an idiot.” Suguru mutters under his breath, head in his hands.

Shoko barks out a laugh “Yes you are. But it’s okay, you can go do something about it. He’s been waiting for you all day like a sad puppy dog, I think he’s in your room right now, go to him.”

Suguru nods, he needs to see Satoru, now.

He stands up with a purpose “Thank you Shoko. Really, thank you.”

Shoko waves him off “It’s nothing, I'm just happy you’re finally gonna do something about it. Do you know how stressful it’s been? You guys are the reason I smoke.” and true to her words she starts to pull out a cigarette pack.

Suguru huffs a laugh and says goodbye to her before running off to the dorms. If all goes well, he’ll buy her all the packs of cigarettes she wants for this.

Nothing can stop him now, he’s never felt so determined.

When he reaches his room's door he stops and takes a deep breath, preparing himself for what he’s about to do. He doesn’t have any real plan for what he's going to say but maybe that’s for the better. He just needs to be honest, say how he really feels and pray Shoko is right.

He opens the door and thankfully Satoru is inside, sitting on the bed and scowling at his ds. At the sound of the door Satoru looks up from his ds and breaks into a smile, putting down the device to give Suguru his full attention.

“Suguru!” he exclaims “You’re back! What took you so long?”

“Sorry, ran into Shoko and chatted to her for a bit” is Suguru’s reply, technically not a lie but that’s not the purpose of this conversation. He has important things to say.

Just as Suguru sets his bag down, preparing to start his confession of love, Satoru gets up from the bed and walks over to Suguru. He then suddenly throws his arms around his neck and pulls him in close.

Trust Satoru to completely throw him off.

On instinct Suguru wraps his arms around Satoru and holds him, much like how he would at night. “Miss me?” he replies smugly, because he just can’t resist teasing him a little.

“Shut up.” Satoru mumbles into his shoulder but makes no effort to move away, simply enjoying the embrace.

This feels right. Coming home and greeting Satoru like this, he wouldn’t mind if every day was like this. Which is really why he needs to hurry up and start talking already.

Of course, Satoru beats him to it once again.

“Suguru?” he starts, almost nervous.

“Yeah?”

“This morning… I wasn’t sure if it was real or not, but I felt something. It was like… you kissed me on the cheek? Did you?”

Ah, so he must’ve been semi awake then. Well, Suguru’s not being a coward anymore so he’s going to be honest.

“Yeah, I did. Is that…ok?”

He feels Satoru nodding his head on his shoulder.

“Yeah. I- uh, it was nice, or whatever.” he says, feigning casualness, Satoru is so cute when he’s shy. “Did you… did you mean it?” Satoru asks carefully.

Suguru pulls back so he can look directly at Satoru’s face, this is it, he’s going to tell him.

“Yeah Satoru, yeah I did. I- I need to tell you something. The truth is…I like you alot Satoru, like, the more than friends way. I only realised recently because of all these sleepovers we’ve been having, it’s just… the cuddling and being close and all that feels so right with you. I’m sorry I kissed you without asking, that was so weird of me. Honestly, I think I've always liked you, ever since we first met. I always want to be with you Satoru, I understand if you don’t feel the same but i just-”

“Suguru.” Satoru interrupts, cutting off the others rambling.

Satoru’s face is something between shocked and joy, taking off his sunglasses to look deeper into Suguru’s eyes. After a moment of pause, Satoru leans in and connects his lips with Suguru. Suguru instantly melts into it, like he was meant for this. This goes beyond anything he could have imagined.

It’s perfect, it’s all so perfect, he’s convinced now it was always meant to be this way. There’s not a moment he wants to be apart from Satoru now. He deepens the kiss and holds onto Satoru tighter, he can’t believe he didn’t do this earlier.

Eventually, they both pull back for a breath, looking at each other in anticipation.

“I love you Satoru.” Suguru says softly, he’s so full of love right now, he didn’t know it was possible to love someone this much. The white haired sorcerer breaks out into a smile and gives a chaste kiss to Suguru, placing a hand on his cheek.

“Say it again.” Satoru requests, and Suguru eagerly replies.

“I love you.” he says with a grin, earning another kiss from Satoru instantly.

Satoru lets out a small chuckle, like he can’t believe that this is really happening.

“I love you too, Suguru. I really, really love you”

Suguru’s heart flutters at that, Satoru loves him, he can’t help but kiss him softly on the cheek, much like he did that very morning. He’s never felt so relieved in his life, what did he ever do to deserve this blessing?

Satoru sighs dreamily and goes to rest his forehead on Suguru’s shoulder “Dude, how is this real?” he mutters.  Suguru can’t help but roll his eyes playfully, but moves his hand to comb though Satoru’s hair, making the other instantly preen and lean into the touch. Satoru will never beat the cat comparisons it seems.

“Satoru, don't call me dude after we just had our first kiss.”

The six eyes user lifts up his head to look at Suguru,“Why not? I’ve always called you dude, what's the difference now?”

“It’s not very romantic, what are we gonna tell people when we share the story of when we got together” Suguru pauses for a second, are they together now? Maybe he should ask “If you want to be together, that is.”

Satoru flicks Suguru’s forehead slightly “Duh, I don’t go around kissing anyone Suguru. Who do you think I am?” he says in mock offense.

Suguru pinches Satoru’s waist lightly in retaliation and chuckles “Shut up, I was just making sure we’re on the same page. I want you to feel comfortable is all”

Suddenly Satoru’s face turns serious “I’m always comfortable with you Suguru, always. I want to experience everything with you” and leans in to kiss him again, they’re both becoming very addicted to this.

“I feel the same Satoru, I’ve been wanting this so much” he replies and then takes Satoru’s hand into his “So, what do you say to having another sleepover? I even got you sweets, they’re in my bag”

The other grins and nods “Aww Suguru! You’re such a good boyfriend already!” Satoru coos while making an over the top kissy face “I would personally love a sleepover right now, we should also have one tomorrow and maybe also the day after that. Your bed is soooo much more comfy then mine yknow?” already leading them both back to the bed.

“Of course Satoru.”

Suguru hopes these sleepovers never end, that he gets to enjoy his mornings and his nights with Satoru for as long as Satoru wants him to be there, he wants to love Satoru every chance he gets.

He’s definitely buying Shoko that pack of cigarettes.

Notes:

Hey guys... I finally got this finished (this is why I don't often do chaptered fics I'm so bad at being consistent) I hope it was worth the wait! It took me a while to write something I was actually satisfied with but we got there in the end, I did also think about potentially writing a second part to this fic from Satoru's perspective, who knows if I'll actually do that but maybe! Let me know what you think and if you'd be interested!

Thank you to the people who read the last chapter and left kudos!! the support is much appreciated and gave me a boost of confidence <3 as always any feedback is welcome!

Hopefully I'll see you in my next fic!!!

Notes:

Thank you for reading!!! I should have the second chapter out very very soon (hopefully) so if you did enjoy this do keep an eye out for that!

Kudos and comments are very very appreciated. As I said in the beginning note, this is my first time writing a fic in a little while so any support or feedback will be cherished!!! <333
