Paradise | Bunny - Kenny x Butters

Chapter 10: The Grand Finale

Summary:

They promised.

Chapter Text

Everyone was screaming euphorically, beaming, everyone wanted to see that final confrontation... And it's true that the last time a competition between great skaters was held, Professor Chaos and Mysterion had to leave the competition mid-way through due to an accident...

That time… They would no longer have anything to worry about.

They both stood on the starting line, looking at the other skaters who were cheering them on playfully, and there was no shortage of cheers that heated the atmosphere even more than it already was. They both looked at each other defiantly, but they still hadn't shared a real look, as they were busy watching the rink empty, but people still gathered at the edges.

When the alarm sounded indicating that the rink should be completely cleared, both Chaos and Mysterion prepared their skateboards, glanced at each other, and smirked.

Red light…

“Good luck…” they said at the same time.

Amber light…

They both gave each other a quick kiss…

At the same time as the green light signaled the start…

But no one came out, and no movements or shouts were heard for much of the race. Everyone was frozen in place. That was unexpected. Mysterion and Professor Chaos fought for the advantage, swerving dangerously around corners so their skateboards bumped slightly. They gently jostled each other to overtake, and still neither of them managed…

“I'm going to have to push you off the cliff to beat you this time…”

“It won't work this time…”

“We'll see about that…”

He gave the board a sharp blow, after that, he lifted his own board and placed the edge on his own… The same thing he had done once before… The two looked at each other defiantly.

“This time I'm not going to give you the lead.”

“Ah… So that's what we have, huh?” he muttered, getting closer to the edge.

Mysterion grabbed onto the lapels of Chaos's clothes.

“If I fall…” he smiled maliciously... “You're coming with me…” Chaos smiled defiantly and moved his legs and knees in a way that destabilised McCormick.

Being at his mercy, he grabbed him by the waist, passing his arms under his armpits and thus preventing him from falling, at the same time they turned so close that the wheels on one side of the hooded were literally out of the path, but they did not fall because Chaos firmly stepped on the board of the same so that this would not happen.

The shouts and cheers returned after that curve.

“Hmph… I'm going to have to commit romantic suicide more often if you’re going to react like that, bunnybun…” he spoke in his deep voice, the voice he used to use, but since he was in the race, he didn't use it…

Chaos blushed slightly at the closeness as he said that.

He let go and stepped away, returning to his board and leaning forward to accelerate. Mysterion smirked.

"I'll take that as an 'Okay!'" he exclaimed as he also leaned down to follow him closely.

"Beat me first..." the helmeted shouted, turning his head to look at him out of the corner of his eye.

Mysterion burst out laughing and leaned a little further forward to accelerate… Still, a dangerous curve was approaching… They both negotiated it, perhaps a little too close to the mark for speed, but they managed to get through.

And yet neither of them gave in…

On the straights it was a constant battle of overtaking and falling behind…

On the curves it seemed to be a competition to see who could pass closest to the edge of the cliffs.

And finally… The final stretch…

Professor Chaos had the advantage… But that didn't give him an early victory…

Everyone's eyes were wide open to catch every detail, the adrenalin was beating as fast as their hearts. The two were so close...

The two were on par...

There was no advantage…

There was no way to predict who would win.

There was no possible measurement to see if there was actually a difference between them.

TIE!” was the shout that decided the outcome.

They were both lying on the ground, the slope had changed so abruptly and they stopped so abruptly that they ended up rolling on the ground without hurting themselves in the slightest.

They were both panting… sweaty and breathing fast.

Still… They glanced at each other from the ground…

They smiled broadly.

"That was amazing!" were the first screams they could hear when they heard their hearts so loud that they only had the body to look at each other out of the corner of their eyes, still lying on the ground.

They waited a few seconds before their bodies allowed them to move without shaking from the adrenaline.

They approached each other and, laughing, high-fived each other…

Which later became holding hands by interlacing the fingers.

“That was our best race yet…” whispered one.

“You can say that…” the other whispered.

“That was great!” they realised the real world around them upon hearing that.

They both looked at each other and laughed a little at being left looking like fools.

They turned their eyes to Human Kite and Toolshed… To Tweek and Craig… Towards Coon… To the other skaters…

Finally, a crowd of Asian girls surrounded them, shouting and saying words that the two boys couldn't understand.

Shit…

But from experience, they knew they were a crowd of crazy girls eager to know about their relationship…

So, laughing― because they both thought the same―, they ran with their hands linked, threw their skateboards to jump on them and fled as fast as they could from the crowd as if death itself or the end of the world were running after them.

Anyway… They would be faster...

THE END
