Chapter Text
Percy felt pretty good today! He got all of his homework done with the help of his stunning girlfriend, he went on a walk, his mom made him blue lentil soup and her famous blue cookies, his meds didn’t taste as sour, and he went to his weekly therapy session which was fun. His therapist had a sand box thing with cute little toys.
Annabeth had finally convinced him to go see a therapist. It was awkward at first but it was kinda helping, he had to admit. He was also on some depression medication which he was embarrassed about at first. How could the hero of Olympus have to rely on some yucky pills each day? But over time he started to not care once he learned that a lot of his friends were on them too and they were hopefully temporary.
Of course, he had his bad days. Days where he couldn’t get out of bed or couldn’t handle any noises or smells or bright lights. But those days were becoming less and less frequent and he was really starting to enjoy himself.
He was in the infirmary for about four weeks before he was allowed to be in his cabin with Annabeth. She had to accompany him at all times which he felt bad about but she reassured him that it was fine and she liked spending time with him anyway. Once he was fully out, he went back to training which felt awesome, watching the sunset on the beach, and being at home with his mom and little half-sister more. Life was truly great for him. Not perfect, but pretty great.
“Percy, honey, is Annabeth coming over tonight?” Sally asked when she saw Percy return from his walk.
“Uh, yeah, we’re gonna watch a movie in my room and just hang out.” He said casually, flopping down on the sofa. Sally gave him a look.
“Right… Well, have fun with your movie. Paul and I are going on a date and we’re dropping Estelle off to a playdate. You two try not to get into any trouble while I’m gone!” She teased and laughed as Percy’s face turned pink.
“Moooommmm!” He whined and pushed a pillow against his blushing face. Sally laughed even harder at this and rolled her eyes. Paul walked into the room holding Estelle who was babbling about her favorite toys and games.
“We ready to go?” He asked his wife who smiled innocently at him.
“Yup! Let’s go. See you later tonight, Percy.” She said to her son and waved at him, jumping out the door eagerly.
Before Paul left, he glared at Percy.
“Young man, I know that Annabeth is coming over but I expect no funny business will take place. I know all about you high schoolers and your activities amongst you all! So behave! …But seriously, have fun watching your movie and make sure not to stay up too late. Tonight’s a school night. Love ya, bye.” Paul lectured and left the dumbfounded Percy on the sofa.
Percy laughed to himself. Just a few months ago they were talking to him about getting help and support for his issues and now they were lecturing him about normal teen stuff, like hanging out with your girlfriend.
Yeah, life is pretty good now, he decided.
