Chapter Text
The world was ending and Sabrina couldn't do a thing to stop it.
Paris was in ruins, multiple building in decrepit state and fire grew throughout the city as she attempted to see past the smoke.
"M——H———!" Voices called out to the ginger haired girl from people she didn't know. She didn't even recognize the outfit she was wearing, an orange bodysuit with a beret on her head and a mask over her eyes. It felt ridiculous yet strangely right. There were other figures around her, dressed in similar looking yet different costumes. Yellow and black stripes, teal scales, green hexagon shield, even a girl dressed in a pink tutu were among their ranks. Only she couldn't see their faces. They were blackened out and their voices muffled like static on an old television. They were worn out, barely standing. Exhaustion and fatigue had broken down their bodies. She peered through the wreckage, the smoke, the destruction of Paris to a terrifying sight.
A figure draped in purple and silver stood victoriously before a great four armed creature as two figures laid defeated next to her.
"I've won, I've finally won!" They laughed as the faces of the defeated figures slumped before them.
"M————? A——?" Sabrina's own gasp of shock was muffled, recognizing the faceless unconscious people. She scrambled to reach them, running across rooftops to make it to them to help them. Their faces were blank, yet she felt some pull to them, unexplainable and yet instinctual. She could trust them and they could trust her to be there for them.
"What is your command?" The illuminating white being asked the standing figure, its three eyes looking down at them.
"Please don't do it!"
"You can't do this, ————!"
"Think of Paris!" Multiple voices objected, even Sabrina found herself shaking her head, begging the violet figure to listen. But they weren't listening.
"Unmake this world and restart it anew, a clean slate without her in it!" They pointed a finger at the beaten down girl who was cradling her ears as she weakly struggled to stand.
"No!" Sabrina cried out, swinging a ball towards them. In her mind, she knew she couldn't help, thinking what could a single small ball do? What could a nobody like her do? Yet her arm swung instinctively, the ball flew through the air. The orange of the sphere was the last color she saw before the world went completely white.
"Wake up, Miss Hound." A voice pierced through the white, "You’ve been asleep for far too long."
"Sabrina?! Are you even listening to me?" The orange haired girl woke up to her best friend shouting in her ear.
"Huh?" Oh, she must have dozed off in the middle of class. She thought she had been dreaming, but she couldn't remember what it was about. It probably didn't mean anything, dreams were just dreams.
"Sorry, Chloe, what did you say?" Sabrina yawned as she spoke.
"I said, do you want to go to my house for the project?"
"The project...? Oh yes, the project!" The physics presentation Ms.Mendeleiev assigned that she, Chloe, and...who else was on their team? Sabrina knew there was a third person with them. Only the classroom was empty except for the two of them. Had they already left?
"Isn't it supposed to be three people?" Sabrina asked, unsure of her own memory.
"Keep up, Sabrina.” Chloe tsked, “Obviously, it's just the two of us again."
"Oh...right." The red head nodded. No one would team up with them. Her and Chloe were the dream team, after all. Sabrina did all the hard stuff and Chloe did the presenting, or the 'looking good' part as she would put it. Sabrina made sure all the research and the presentation looked engaging while Chloe just…stood there and talked.
"Sabrina, Chloé's totally taking advantage of you. You don't have to do what she says. That's not how a real best friend acts!"
Sabrina looked around to see who said that, but there was no one else there, except for her and Chloe.
"Hurry up, Sabrina!" Chloe impatiently waited for Sabrina at the classroom entrance.
"C-coming, Chloe!" She hurriedly grabbed her things and followed her best friend out the door. It must have been her imagination, there's no way Chloe was taking advantage of her. Chloe was her best friend (...right?)
The library was a quiet place to work on the presentation. Well, Sabrina was the one actually working, Chloe was on her phone. But she didn't mind, it's always been that way, ever since they were kids.
"...Did you really have to be so mean to Nathaniel?" She did not like the way she mocked him. He was a really good artist, the best in the class even.
"He was acting like such a loser, having a crush on Lila."
"...Lila?" That didn't sound right. Why didn't that sound right? Nathaniel had a crush on...on...what was their name?
"It's ridiculous, honestly." Chloe huffed, "She's a model as if some loser artist has a chance with her."
What? No...Nathaniel had a crush on someone else. Why was she thinking of Nathaniel? Today, they were working on the project for physics. Her mind had been such a mess, it wasn't like her. Maybe she was just tired, too many late nights doing Chloe's homework. Only as Sabrina looked at her notes, they felt repetitive? Had she done this problems before?
…Had she been here before?
"Ahh, my hair!!" Sabrina jumped out of her seat as a million berets suddenly fell on top of Chloe.
"W-what?" Was there an akuma?
"Sabrina! Get me out of hereeee!!" The berets disappeared off of Chloe, only for a giant hairdryer to come flying at them. The red head ducked out of the way, Chloe was not so lucky, continuing to be chased by the giant hairdryer. Now Sabrina knew there had to be an akuma, there was no other explanation. She crawled under a table and did what she did best, hide. She just needed to wait until the heroes arrived. She felt guilty for leaving Chloe behind, but what could Sabrina do? She wasn't a superhero, she didn't have superpowers, she was just Sabrina.
Thump! A weight pressed against the table Sabrina was hiding, making her peek from under her hiding spot. It was Chat Noir...only it wasn't Chat Noir. Sure, he had the blonde hair, the black leather, even had the green eyes. But his stance was off. More guarded, more confident, and his eyes were more calculating. Perhaps she was mixing it up with fanfiction, Chloe had been showing her some new ones and going on and on about how Ladybug was mischaracterized by the authors.
"Huh, this is a new one." Chat Noir commented, A dry and slightly sarcastic, "Giant hair appliances?"
"If you're worried about messing up your hair, don't worry, you already done its job for it." The familiar sound of a yoyo zipped through the air as a feminine voice spoke.
"Haha, very funny, and I thought I was the one with the jokes." Chat Noir ran a hand through his wild hair.
"Let's get to work." It had to be Ladybug speaking. Wherever Chat Noir was, Ladybug wasn't too far behind.
Sabrina caught the sight of red and black spots and she sighed in relief. Ladybug and Chat Noir were here, they'd help Chloe and defeat the akuma. They always saved the day. Yet a small thought rooted itself in her mind as green eyes under a red black spotted mask met curious blue.
That's not Ladybug, that's not Ladybug, that is not Lad-SNAP!
What was she thinking? Oh, right, Sabrina needed to stay still and hide. She wouldn't be any help to the heroes.
There was no way someone like Sabrina could ever be a hero like Ladybug and Chat Noir.
