“So you're doing this because this girl- who definitely killed someone- is dating the guy you like?”
Holly asked, raising an eyebrow at Phoenix.
“Yep!”
Alice wasn't shocked by Phoenix’s plan.
“You always seemed like someone to plan a person's downfall.”
“Thank you!”
Phoenix smiled. Mimi sighed.
“You really go all out…”
Mimic muttered, her older brother, Lance tapped his fingers on the table.
“He's being petty. We like that don't we?”
Ryan had his arm around Lance's.
“That we do”
“How are you sure this will even work?”
Alice looked to Phoenix,
“Oh, I don't. But it's better than nothing. Plus I'll just happen to mention it in passing”
“Well.”
Holly raised her glass of juice and the others did too as well. Phoenix grinned
“Go big or go home!”
Clink
“HEAR HEAR!”
“Oh, I meant to mention something to you Miles!”
Miles seemingly was ignoring the man.
“I got the main role for the play!”
Miles for the first time in months, looked at Phoenix.
“What…?”
His eyes were wide. Phoenix knew he had Miles where he wanted him right then and there.
“Yes, I tried out a few days ago and got the role. I know you're busy but I still wanted to ask if you wanted to see it.”
Regardless of whether Dahlia was part of this or not, he would have invited Miles to it. Miles looked tired, mentally exhausted.
“But I have no doubt that you're busy-”
Just as Phoenix turned around
“I'll come.”
Phoenix turned back to Miles, smiling.
“I'm glad! I haven't seen you much since you started dating Dahlia.”
Miles’ eyes widened, he didn’t notice just how much time it had ben.
“My apologies Wright-”
Miles could swear he saw Wright's eyes turn cold.
“No need to say sorry! I know you've been busy.”
‘But so have I.’
Then the queen of assholes appeared- Phoenix glanced at her.
‘No… That's not Dahlia.’
The energy was completely different. Did she have a twin sister? Phoenix watched as Miles was taken from him once again.
When Miles looked back Wright had his back turned… Had it really been that long since he spoke to Wright? And to think about when did he start referring to him as Wright…?
Phoenix went back to his dorm and laid in his bed.
“Everything we had is getting destroyed…”
Phoenix hated that it was a fact and that it was happening at all. His fire slowly flickering out and tears forming… People left. People leave.
Drop…
His mothers left him.
Drop..
Not to mention the class that day.
Drop.
Phoenix looked at the large, which had messy sticky notes . Then they got up and went over, picking up the book.
“Cur non debeam?”
Crackle…
They grabbed their Script.
“In pulvere relictus sum…”
Crackle..
He knew the script by heart. This plan won't be for nothing. Everyone always comes for the play.

Phoenix set down the two items on his table… Opening night is only a few weeks away.
“Finally- the ending act!”
Phoenix heard the narrator- Holly announce. Miles had his eyes on the play intently. Phoenix smiled and went on stage.
“My dear, don't you see it now? It is all hopeless in the end, all your justice that you fight for, all the people you protect! They only harm you in the end!”
Phoenix’s eyes lit aflame.
“Truth is never a fruitless endeavor, it is the very flame that fuels me, the very one that will burn your plan to ashes!”
Clink-
Swords clashed.
“You're not one for weaponry.”
“On the contrary, I'll fight for as long as need be.”
“I gave you an option and yet like a foolish human, you stay. You will burn!”
“I will burn? No, it is you who shall burn! Burn from the very lies you created!”
The sword was cast aside and Phoenix’s sword was to his neck
“Why stay for that little pest of a prince! What has he done for you?!”
“I need him not to do anything for me. He is my heart and soul, whether he wants it to be or not. It is the truth. A truth you refuse to acknowledge, Baron.”
“You want to be human? Then die like one!”
He tried to get up and Phoeschool his went boot into his chest.
“I am more than you shall ever be. You should be aware by now, yes? Then you know what you ask is as useless as you are, Baron. This shall be the place you burn for every misdeed you committed. For every lie you speak and have spoken. You'll remember the one you worshiped, who you thought a god, is the one who will never save you. Unlike you mortals, I have no need for morality. I am as cruel as the Primordial Moon was too her once-lover, her lover who forever sleeps. Farewell, and I will make sure you will never return to an existence wheat my prince is in it.”
Phoenix left as the fire rose. Tap, tap, tap.
“And thus… The Phoenix’s Rebuttal ends. Thank you for everyone who came to watch! Our main lead was none othan then our very own Phoenix Ryuuichi Wright!”
Phoenix zoned out and smiled. This was the last day. And soon, the beginning of a new year at a different school. Phoenix left the schoolwent and to his dorm, packing up.
“You're leaving?”
Phoenix turned to see Miles.
“Yes, another school accepted me.”
Phoenix continued packing
“I'm sorry.”
“For what?”
“You know exactly what I mean, Wright.”
Phoenix sighed as they finished. He looks at Miles
“Look at us Miles. Our friendship is torn. You've barely talked to me or Larry since School began.”
“And you're leaving because of that?!”
Phoenix shook his head.
“No. I'm leaving because I can't stand you to be used by Dahlia. You don't even call me Phoenix anymore.”
Miles’ eyes widened by ,what he said. Phoenix took his suitcase and rfiery-haired, soon-to-be-deadying his bag.
“Wright-”
Apparentlyng this on purpose. I hope you realize that.”
He didn’t listen and walked-
“PHOENIX!”
Phoenix finally turned around to face Miles again. The bracelet Dahlia had given Miles was gone.
“Will you just listen to me, you stubborn idiot?!”
Miles’ eyes were tearing up
“Please, Phoenix…”
He's a weak man unfortunately. Phoenix walked over to Miles.
“What is it?”
Now that Miles had a closer look at Phoenix, he looked exhausted.
“I'm sorry Phoenix, she said she was going to kill you if I didn't.”
Snap…!
Phoenix took out his phone
“You have proof right?”
“Of course I do- Phoenix, what are you doing?”
Phoenix smiled at Miles like he were the stars to him.
“Someone who wants this bitch dead.”
Ring… Ring.. Ring-
“Nix?”
“Heeeey Mia!”
“Wait, how do you know Mia?”
“Not important- Mia you know that necklace I gave you from that fiery haired soon to be dead woman?”
“Very vividly.”
“Appearntly, she's been threatening Miles to date her and if he didn’t she would kill me.”
“You and Small Gregory are still at school, yes?”
“Yep, I need to help Holly and Alice with the stage still actually.”
“Oh good! Also I expect the recording of that play”
“I know.”
“MAYA I'M PICKING UP PHOENIX AND MILES!”
Then the call ended.
“Again, how do you know them??”
Phoenix grinned.
“See, I did research on her, and she was in a trial the day she gave me the pendent, one for murder and I found the Lady who went against her. Rather easy to find her. But you told them about me?”
Miles’ face turned red and he looked away
“Well… Anyone could, tell how much you meant to me, and how long ago did you give Mia the necklace?”
Phoenix hummed
“After the first few days you two started dating- oh and I'm like 70% sure the lady you hang out with isn't actual,ly Dahlia but a twin, sister.”
“How do you, know that?”
The two made their way out of the dorms
“I've met the real Dahlia. And trust me, that was not her.”
The two were at the doorway out of dorms, Mia was just outside waiting for them.
“I know why you invited me to the play. You'd normally be on the sidelines and we know it”
He chuckled
“I hope so, I wasn't exactly intending on being subtle”
“Making her jealous, really?”
Phoenix then laughed
“Oh no that wasn't the plan. Everyone knows the Phoenix's Rebuttal play is constantly talked about the next year. It was more you'd just be talking about me constantly that it would drive Dahlia mad and you'd figure out what she had been doing and leave her. Then after possibly if not sooner me and Mia would take her to trial for trying to frame me using evidence and for various counts of murder.”
“You've been planning her downfall?!”
“Yep!”
Phoenix just smiled. Suddenly his face was cupped and before he knew it Mithat les Edgeworth was kissing him. Phoenix's face was red, Miles froze.
“I apolog-”
“At least I don't need to worry about confessing.”
Miles laughed and took both of Phoenix's hands.
“Oh you silly, ridiculous man.”
“And to think it took a play and me being petty for this…”
“I could do without the fake dating personally”
Miles intertwined one of his hands with Phoenix's, kissing the hand. Phoenix just malfunctioned for a moment.
“ARE YOU TWO COMING OR WHAT?”
The two heard Mia shout. Thank everything in existence that neither of the sisters could see what was happening.
“We should go”
Phoenix looked away.
“We should.”
Miles didn't look anywhere else except Phoenix. He's been dreaming about this for so long. You can't blame him for wanting this moment to last. The only reason he even dated that woman was for Phoenix's safety alone, never did he realize how this affected the man in question. But to the fact Phoenix started planning how to take her down? That was something else entirely. He loves and adores this man so much…
Phoenix tugged his hand.
“Mia will probably bust the door down if we take any more time, Miles.”
“Ah, yes, you're quite right aboutthat that.”
The two finally got out of the dorms to see Mia and Maya.
“There you two are-!”
Maya then noticed the hand holding.
“We have a bitch to take down!”
Mia sighed.
“Ever the menace?”
Maya and Phoenix grinned.
“So this is what father meant by menace duo…”
“They’re terrifying. And Phoenix is terrifyingly accurate.”
“That is very like him to be.”
They went into the car
“How am I terrifying?”
“Phoenix, you came to me the day you found out.”
“You said a few days after”
“In my defense, I am literally a theater kid, we hear everything.”
“You most certainly do.”
Miles muttered, Maya leaned against Phoenix.
“I find it rather unfair that Maya has already grown on you-”
“Try being cooler”
Maya stuck her tongue out at him. He scoffed at it.
“How is Phoenix cooler than me?”
“He did a play just to be petty and make Dahlia go mad.”
“That's… Fair.”
Phoenix chuckled at this. It was nice now this was over.
“You're not really moving schools right?”
“Oh no, that's true. I got accepted to Themis.”
“WHAT?!”
Phoenix just smiled at their reactions.
