Chapter 9: Closure

Chapter Text

"Why would we do that?" Zoey asked.

"It's just... if Gwi-ma's not here, they won't have anyone to steal souls for. Why would we block them out if they're not doing any harm?" Rumi responded.

"Rumi," Mira said. "All we've ever tried to do is seal the Honmoon, why would just stop when we're so close?"

"They won't do anything if we let them come up. Everything that happened was Gwi-ma's fault."

The girls thought for a moment. "It might work," Zoey said. "We can always seal it later if things get bad. Plus, it would allow The Saja Boys to come up when they wanted to. They could preform again."

"Nothing will happen Mira. They've been coming up for years without Gwi-ma, what would change now?"

Mira sighed. "I know. It just feels weird to not seal it."

"Maybe we never had to seal it," Zoey suggested. "All we had to do was fight Gwi-ma."

"Are you guys alright with that?" Rumi asked the boys.

They all nodded. "Nobody will get up to anything," Abby added.

"Yeah," Romance responded, "once the initial shock dies down, everyone will fall back into their old patterns."

"Alright," Rumi said conclusively, "it's settled. We're not sealing it unless it needs to be."

Zoey smiled, "it'll be perfect. You guys can come over to our house and then we can go out to eat. We can even do concerts together!"

Mira and Zoey started talking to the boys about their plans for the next concert. Rumi turned to Jinu, "are you okay with this?" Rumi asked him. He had been pretty quiet since she freed him.

"Yeah, it's alright. I'm just still surprised that he's gone," he frowned. "I've been here for four-hundred years, and all it took was a song?"

"I don't think it was the song that killed him," Rumi responded quietly.

Jinu sighed. "I know. It's just frustrating. I couldn't even help."

"You were in a cage the entire time. There's not much you can do about that. And you helped at the end, that's when it really counted."

He took a deep breath in. "Thank you for that... freeing me."

"It's really alright. Thank you for trusting us."

Just as Rumi finished talking, Jinu picked her up and planted a small kiss on her lips. Rumi blushed before accepting the kiss. No one saw the short moment that passed between them, everyone was so excited to be free, but that made it all the more special. Rumi was sad when the kiss ended, but she knew that more were coming in the future.

Jinu let out an awkward laugh. "What do we do now?"

"We probably should figure things out here. The girls and I also probably need to head back up. No one's heard from us for days," Rumi hadn't been thinking about what people, especially Bobby, would be thinking over the last few days. Even if they left a note for Bobby, he still would start getting worried.

"I can handle things down here. You should go back up, we can visit later tonight to check in."

"You're fine with that? I don't want to leave you to figure everything out."

"There's nothing to really 'figure out.' I think we just need to tell people to do what they've always been doing. They'll be a few people who don't know what to do without Gwi-ma, but we'll help them."

Rumi took a deep breath in. "Thank you for everything," she said while giving Jinu a small hug. As much as she loved her time with the boys, she was ready to be back in the penthouse.

Rumi turned towards the others, "are you ready to go back up? The Saja Boys have got it handled down here."

"Yeah," Zoey said with a small frown. "I'm gonna miss you," she said to Mystery.

"I can always come up, it'll be alright," he responded with giving her a small, awkward hug.

————

Rumi collapsed down on her bed. It was a few hours after they had gotten back up, and all she wanted to do was go to sleep. Explaining a fake story about going on a “girls trip” was not as easy as she thought it would be. They also had to lie about getting in touch with the Saja Boys, who were “taking a break after their debut.” They were coming over tonight, so Rumi had to stay awake. She wasn’t sure how everything would change with their performances now that Gwi-ma was gone, but they were still excited to perform.

“Rumi!” Zoey yelled from the kitchen, “are you coming? Baby said they’re almost here!”

“I’m coming!” Rumi said while pulling herself out of bed.

“We thought you fell asleep,” Mira said once Rumi made it into the kitchen.

“I want to, but I also want to talk to them. I hope everything went okay.”

“I’m sure it did,” Zoey said. “They’re coming, so things must be under control.”

Just as Zoey finished speaking, the elevator opened. “Hey guys,” Jinu said while walking in with the others behind him. Baby immediately went into the kitchen and grabbed snacks before sitting down on the girls couch and turning on the TV. Mystery walked over to Zoey and stood next to her.

“How did it go?” Rumi asked.

“Really well. Everyone just kinda left and did their own thing. It’s basically the same except everyone’s happier, and we don’t have to listen to him every second,” Jinu answered.

“The demons who stood by Gwi-ma left their area too. We were trying to help them figure out what to do with themselves,” Romance added while making his way to the barstools at the kitchen island with Abby closely behind.

Mystery smiled, “Everything is already so much better with him gone. It’s only been a few hours, but it’s amazing.”

“Yeah!” Baby yelled from the living room, “you guys are actually the best!”

“Thank you,” Abby said, speaking for all of them.

“It’s okay. We’re glad to have you guys back,” Rumi responded with a wide smile.

Notes:

Hi guys! I want to thank you all so much for everything. This story has been so much fun to write and I loved getting to share my take on their backstories (those chapters were my favorites to write). This chapter definitely wasn’t the best and I’m sorry about that. I really had no idea on how to wrap things up and it turned out somewhat lackluster. Looking back, I definitely should have just done one-off backstories, but I still like what I wrote. I’ll definitely be back sometime soon (it might be a few months but I PROMISE that I didn’t forget about you guys). And it might not be K-pop Demon Hunters but I promise it will be just as good and hopefully better. Thank you all so much for all the reads and kudos; I never would have expected this and I am beyond grateful for everyone who read my writing. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all so much 🩷

Notes:

Hi <3 Thank you so much for reading! I’ll try to publish pretty frequently, but it might be a little all over the place with work and everything. I also publish on Wattpad but I don’t know why you would want to read there. Thanks ❤️
