Chapter Text
Tails isn’t the kind of person to take many breaks; if he were being blunt with you, he wouldn’t take breaks, period. Just four hours ago, he promised Sonic, who was on his way to bed, that he would be three hours ago.
You could say that was just his driving build that kept him moving forward, and to an extent, that would be correct. You could say it’s his paranoia, which would explain why he was up at 3:00 AM building another weapon, and that could possibly be it as well.
But if you asked Tails, it was simply because no one else is doing it, so he might as well. Not everyone was building lasers, or fixing and making planes, or even another cyclone. And he uses those things to protect people, so he might as well make sure they are all perfect.
The fox stretches as a yawn escapes him. He quickly shakes his head. Nope! Nope! Can’t fall asleep now! Not when he’s almost done.
Tails takes a sip of coffee. He can keep going for another hour, maybe even two. Just gotta keep at it.
For a second, the fox sees something spark in the corner of his eye, and he looks over, out the window. And doesn’t see anything, although, either because of his exhausted eyes, which is an overexertion, he wasn’t tired! But he swears he almost saw something falling.
And that something is quickly proven to him as he sees something falling out of the sky spark by life. It was so far from him that it looked like a star was actually falling from the sky and heading straight to the earth.
He watches it fall as it eventually crashlands, far away from his house but into the hills that couldn’t be more than two miles away.
“Oh, crap! Oh, crap!” Waking him up completely, Tails makes his way to the garage door and opens it, then jogs him to the cyclone, flies on, and starts it up. And with a charged start, it bolts off.
If his vision was to be believed, then an actual shooting star fell to the ground, that or something from space most likely, it looked like it fell from the sky, there was that possibility.
It takes no time for him to reach the crash landing, mainly because whatever had landed might’ve been dangerous and he wasn’t going to let it go to irresponsible hands
He flies out of the Cyclone and runs towards it, only realizing that whatever it was before him, wasn’t a star, or even really an item. It looked more like an escape pod.
“What the heck…?” Tails cautiously inspecting the machine. He wasn’t positive what it was yet, but there was a chance it wasn’t good.
The pod itself looked futuristic, so much so he was almost jealous of the craftment ship. Maybe he could scrap it up and make something with the materials.
Before he could think of anything else to do with it. The pod door then shifts open, a gust of air is let out from it, Tails quickly backs away from the pod and puts himself in a fighting stance in front of the door.
As the door mechanically slides to the left, the fox looks to see who was inside, and upon doing so puts him out of his guard.
What was inside seemed as though to be a girl. A girl who seemed unconscious. A girl who looked strange to the fox. A girl who was definitely an alien. Her hair was green and went to her neck, and it looked like they were almost made out of petals, she had red poppies on the sides of her head, and her outfit was made out of a flower, with her skirt resembling a white and green one.
She was unconscious, either the crash had knocked her out or she was down before so “Hello?” Tails said, inching closer to the ship. “Are you okay?”
No response. Tails could hear the girl’s soft breathing, so he could tell that she was alive at least.
What to do? What to do? He can’t just leave her here. But it seems like she was going to be out for a while though.
Wait, he could bring her back to his house and have her rest there!
So, Tails reaches inside of the escape pod and carries her and him back to the Cyclone, she sits her down next to her, causing her head to fall on his shoulders. After the quick awkward shake off, he drives back to the house.
After parking in the garage and closing its door, he carries her out into the living room. “Sonic wake up!” Tails yells. “An Alien crashed onto our planet!”
“Oh, shoot!” Tails hears Sonic move upward from his bed in his room. “Hold up, I’m com- Oh crap!” Tails then hears the sound of the hedgehog falling on the floor.
“Did you forget about your prosthetic?” Tails says, as he placed the alien girl on the couch.
“Why else do you think I fell?” He snarked, causing the fox to smirk and roll his eyes.
About a minute later Sonic dashes to the living room. “Alright, where is it?” Sonic says, stretching his fingers, seemingly ready for a fight.
“Uh, she’s right here.” Tails points to the alien that is resting on their couch, now with a blanket wrapped around them.
“Oh, uh… huh.” Sonic looks at the girl, arms laid to the top back of the couch. “Of all of my ideas of what an alien looked like, this was not at all one of them.”
“Yeah, you're telling me.”
“Where did you even find her?”
“She had an escape pod that crashed about two miles from here.”
Sonic’s eyebrow raised. “An escape pod?”
“It at least looked like one at least.”
“That probably means she came from some type of danger.” Sonic stretches, “And that feels like it’s gonna be a whole thing on its own.” He then yawns, “A whole thing I can deal with tomorrow morning. We should let her sleep.”
“Yeah, good idea.” Tails then walks out of the living room and toward the garage. “She seems like she needs it.”
“Miles Tails Prower the fox.” Sonic’s stern voice stops Tails in his tracks. “How did you find out an alien crash onto the planet while sleeping?”
“The… I just fell asleep in the garage and the crash just… woke me up!” Tails excused, even though it was obvious by his tone that they both knew for a fact that the fox was not sleeping.
“Cool! Which means you won’t mind going to sleep in your own room, in your own bed.” Sonic gives a smug smile as he points to the hall behind him.
Tails gives an annoyed groan. “Fine…”
“Atta boy!” Sonic then snaps his fingers, still pointing at the hall. “Now go to bed.”
Tails walks his way back toward Sonic direction to the hall, he then stops as he reaches closer to the hedgehog. “Y’know I’m about your height now, which means soon, I won’t have to take orders from you.”
“You’ll always listen to what I have to say.”
“Why’s that?”
Sonic holds one finger, “Because first of all, I’m the oldest.” He then raises a second. “And second, while I won’t be the tallest in the physical world, I will always be the tallest in spirit.”
Tails snickers. “That doesn’t make sense.”
“Your face doesn't make sense, y’know why? Cause you have big shopping bags under your eyes. Now go to bed.”
The fox walks toward his room. “I’m going. I’m going.”
Sonic smirks, “That kid…” He then looks over to the sleeping alien girl resting on the couch. “Jeez… this better lead into a big thing.”
