Wei Ying looked out of the window when he heard a car pull out near his place. He saw Lan Zhan coming out of it with the same girl he was with the other day at the cafe. The difference is that they also have three other teenage boys with them.
They’re here again. He thought.
This has been going on for a few weeks now. He asked Chikane what it was and she said they’ve decided to do bible study at the Himemiko’s residence. This happens every Wednesday evening.
Chikane has been asking him to join them but he refuses. He still doesn’t know how to be in the same place with the man who broke his heart so badly. Plus, he doesn't like churchy things.
Wei Ying begrudgingly went back to his work trying to work out a new chapter.

Lan Zhan and others with him were welcomed by the Himemiko's. They started to have the bible study session. After that, they went and have little chat.
“Chikane, do you have some books about the Holy spirit? I would like to borrow if that’s alright.” asks Nezuko. She wasn’t a hard person to get along with so Chikane immediately liked her. In fact she was personally charmed by her captivating beauty. She was like the gentle sister she would like to have. They only have a 2 year gap, Nezuko being the elder one.
“Let’s go to my library.”
“Okay! Zhan ge, were going to read some books, care to join us?”
“I am fine. Thank you.”
“Okay. Tanjiro, please look after them. All of you must behave alright?”
“Hai onee-san!!!” says the three teenage boys which is Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke.
The two girls entered the library and Chikane picks a book as per Nezuko’s request.
“Wow! What a wonderful library. It must have been nice to have these beautiful books around.”
“Here.” Chikane says as she held out the said book to the other.
“Thanks! I’ll read it now.”
“If you want you can bring it with you. You can return it once you’re done.”
“Thanks! I would love to borrow it.”
“Also, feel free to come here. I would love some company, onee-san.”
Nezuko smiles. “Then I will take up on that offer. Hehe by the way, I have been wanting to ask, what is your relationship with Wei Ying? I saw you before at the cafe. Do you still remember it?”
“Yes, I do. We are only friends.”
“Oh, I see. You two look good together, you know? hehe “ teases Nezuko.
Chikane only shakes her head. “How about Onee - san?”
“Hmm?”
“What is your relationship with Zhan-ge?”
“Us? I’m his secretary actually. Even though I was not able to finish school, I’m glad that he gave me a chance to work for him when I told him I needed a job.” Nezuko says smiling as she remembered that time Lan Zhan offered her a job. “I thank God a lot for Zhan-ge.”
Chikane nod her head in response.
“Chi, do you know that Zhan - ge and Wei Ying got a past?”
“Mn.”
“So you know that they were once married?”
“Mn. Zhan ge left Wei Ying after he was touched by the Lord calling them to salvation.”
“Yes. Though I feel bad about what happened to them. But it is still better to save their souls than to focus on their comfort. I’m glad Zhan ge loves Wei Ying enough to let him go for the sake of saving his soul instead of keeping him.”
“Mn.”
“You think they can still be friends? I know that even if Zhan-ge doesn’t say anything, he still wants to be friends with Wei Ying.”
“Mn. Yet it is difficult to be friends with the person who broke your heart no matter their reason.”
“You’re right about that. Sigh. Really, Wei Ying just needs to forgive Zhan ge in order to make up with him. But it is always easier said than done. Wait, how about we do something in order to reconcile them?”
“What do you have in mind?"

Wei Ying’s phone ping. He pick it up and read the message.
Good morning, Wei Ying. Zhan ge will pick me up later. Don’t come fetch me after school. From Chikane
“Tsk. Whatever.” He throw his phone and lie down on the bed with a sound.
The next day, he wasn’t able to drive Chikane to school cause he drank the night before. He sent her a message of apology. It was not too long before he received a reply.
Good afternoon, Wei Ying. Not to worry. Zhan-ge dropped me to school today. Don’t come fetch me either. He promised to come fetch me as well.
“Tss. You’re that close already?” he says bitterly. What a traitor. Becoming close with the person who broke my heart.
The next day came and the next, Chikane kept rejecting his offer to drive and fetch her because of Lan Zhan. Wei Ying had enough of being rejected and thought how dare that Lan Zhan take Chikane away from him! He was the first one to be friends with the maiden so Lan Zhan has no right to snatch her away from him.
W-well, really he has a right because he did not own Chikane. But still! A first is a first!
The next morning, Wei Ying woke up so early despite being so sleepy and went to Chikane’s house before Lan Zhan can get there first. He remembers that Lan Zhan would always come 10 minutes before the time cause he doesn’t want to be late so he made sure to come 20 minutes ahead of him. He yawned as he laid his back on his car his arms crossed on his chest.
Suddenly, he saw a familiar car coming towards him making his heart beat fast.
Calm down heart! What are you beating so fast for? Can’t you see that’s the man who broke you?
Lan Zhan went out of his car and saw him. “Good morning, Wei Ying.”
“ Lan Zhan? Are you here to fetch Chi-chi? Don’t bother. I’ll drive her to school today. You can go now. And oh, I’ll be the one to fetch her from school today and in the future. So don’t come ever again.”
The other man frown. “I can’t do that.”
“Why?”
“Chikane specifically asked me to come fetch her before and after school. I willingly agreed. A promise is a promise.”
Hearing that, Wei Ying’s heart hurt. A promise is a promise. But you broke them and broke my heart in the process!
“Really? She must have said that because I was being lazy lately. But don’t worry. I’ll make it up to her. You can go now.” he said gesturing with his hands for him to go.
“Apologies Wei Ying but I cannot do that. I already made a promise to her.”
Wei Ying felt anger rising up within him. “Promise? You dare say that to my face when you broke your promise to me? You said you’ll love me forever and will never break my heart. But look at where we are right now? You really think I’ll trust you to keep your promise to Chikane?” he knows he was being unreasonable but he can’t help but burst in anger remembering Lan Zhan’s promises that he broke.
Lan Zhan was taken aback by his words. “Wei Ying, I..” he started but was stopped by Chikane who just went out.
“Wei Ying? How come you’re here? I sent you a message.”
The man didn’t answer her but he went and grab her not hard. “I’m driving you to school. Come on. “
Chikane pulls her arm from him. “Wei Ying, I told you Zhan ge will be taking me to school today.” Chika went and pulled Lan Zhan. They then walk towards the man’s car.
“Chi-chi! Arghhh whatever!” Wei Ying followed the two and get inside Lan Zhan’s car before it starts. He sat beside Chikane with his arms cross.
“Wei Ying? What are you doing here?”
“I’ll be watching you. Just incase he has some ulterior motive in fetching you to and fro.”
Chikane sighs and the car starts. They were silent on the way until Wei Ying broke it. “Really, Chi-chi. Are you tired of me that’s why you turned to Lan Zhan instead? Am I a bad driver?”
Lan Zhan smiles hearing his question. Though he felt his heart ache seeing Wei Ying caring for someone intimately like when he was still with him.
“No. It is not that.”
“Then what is it?”
“We have a church event coming up. We’re working on what to do. We have so little time hence why Zhan ge and I came up with the idea to brainstorm in the morning and work on it in the evening. That’s why I asked if he could fetch me before school and fetch me afterward.”
“Then let me help.”
“But it is a church event.”
“So what? Surely you need some helping hands and feet no? Plus I have some brilliant ideas if you ever need it. Unless, you don’t allow outsiders?”
Lan Zhan looks at Wei Ying through the rearview mirror.
“No. It’s fine, Wei Ying. You can join us. But are you sure you’re not busy? Aren’t you working on a new novel right now?”
“I’m fine. I’ve lots of time when it comes to fun.” Wei Ying said with a grin on his face.
He was bored with his novel anyway. He decided to find some inspiration first.
