Chapter Text
Day 7: Free Day
He sleeps now, weary and worn. Rook’s fingers card their way through our hair. Pages rustle as they turn, her voice steady as she reads out loud. It’s over, the wolf and his love share his path to atonement and Rook is free to be ours.
She closes the book and places a kiss on our brow, causing me to purr and give up to ruse of sleep. Rook laughs like tinkling glass, “Spite is Lucanis asleep now?” Huffing, Spite buries their face against her with a nod.
Sighing softly, Rook falls silent, “It’s good that he can sleep. He’s going to need it as First Talon.” Pulling back a bit, Spite looks up at her, “we will have Rook with us?” Her eyes crinkle as if grieved by something, “I don’t know if I can. I’m not a Crow anymore, and the exile hasn’t been reversed yet.”
She holds a hand up to halt Spite’s protests, “Lucanis would accept me back into the Crows in a heartbeat, but Viago must be the one to do it. He’s my Talon.” Grumbling they go back to their original position.
Slowly Rook resumes carding her fingers through their hair, “I hope I can stay with you and Lucanis, Spite. You both are the brightest part of my life.”
