The streets of Japanifornia
In the months since Edgeworth’s introduction to the Spade Lawyer fandom, he eventually gained as equal knowledge about the series as Phoenix had. He had written several Steel Samurai meets Spade Lawyer crossover fan fictions, and *attempted* several fan arts (he knew Phoenix’s fan arts would always be superior to his), and had purchased every game in the series. Strangely, he hadn’t played the 6th game that was just released, ‘Spade Lawyer: Ghost of Righteousness,’ he was waiting for the Wright man to play it with.
Edgeworth had taken Phoenix to eat at Kura Revolving Sushi Bar for his birthday, his favorite burger place. Maya always made Phoenix buy her burgers there, and he had grown fond of the place. Edgeworth could see why after receiving such fast service with their orders and kind waiters, not to mention their delicious food. Phoenix and Edgeworth had gone on a walk after their meal and were now sitting on a park bench by a lamppost.
“Thank you for taking me out to dinner, Miles. I know you don’t usually enjoy fast-food.” Phoenix smiled at Edgeworth.
“Well, it is your birthday after all, and the food was surprisingly good.”
“I really enjoyed my present, thank you,” Phoenix said, holding Edgeworth’s hand, and looking into his eyes.
“Well, that’s not your only present.” The words just slipped out of Edgeworth’s mouth, he didn’t want to say anything until the moment was just right.
“Wait, what? I have another present?” Phoenix’s face looked like that of an eager child, “OOH! GIMME GIMME GIMME!!!”
Edgeworth, sighed and chuckled, he figured then was as good a time as any. He felt around in his pocket for the small, velvet box he bought while taking a deep breath, got off of the park bench and down on one knee, gently took Phoenix’s hand in his, and said,
“Phoenix, we’ve known each other for a long time now, and we’ve played Spade Lawyer together for a long time now, and, so, I-I would like to play Spade Lawyer with you for the rest of my life if I may. What I’m trying to ask is, will you marry me?” Edgeworth pulled out the velvet box and opened it.
Phoenix had been blushing this entire time, and at the sight of the item in the small velvet box, he forgot almost everything Edgeworth had just said to him. In the small velvet box was, not a ring, but “Spade Lawyer: Ghost of Righteousness,” the last Spade Lawyer game Phoenix needed to make his collection up to date. Phoenix took the box from Edgeworth, who was patiently waiting for an answer to his question, and looked at it in awe before asking, “HOW ON EARTH DID YOU FIND THIS?! I’VE BEEN LOOKING FOR IT EVERYWHERE IN A PHYSICAL COPY, BUT I’VE HAD NO LUCK!!!”
Edgeworth chuckled at this, “I have my ways...” he said with a wink.
Phoenix suddenly remembered Edgeworth saying something before the reveal of the game, “Oh, wait, you asked me something, what was it?” he said with a nervous chuckle, now looking back at Edgeworth.
Edgeworth chuckled in amusement of Phoenix’s forgetfulness, “I asked if you would like to marry me, Phoenix,” he said with a warm smile.
“Oh, YES, OF COURSE! I’D LOVE TO, MILES!” Phoenix answered happily. He got off the bench, onto his knees, and hugged Edgeworth. He pulled away from the hug and looked like he wanted to ask Edgeworth something, but was unsure whether he should or not, for fear that it would seem rude.
Edgeworth, reading his fiancé’s mind, said “We can play ‘Ghost of Righteousness’ first, if you’d like.”
A huge, dorky grin spread across Phoenix’s face as he nodded happily. The two went to Edgeworth’s residence where they proceeded to play ‘Ghost of Righteousness’ on the couch in Edgeworth’s living room with Pess at their feet until dawn, when the two had fallen asleep on each other.
