Chapter Text
Kaito ended up meeting one of his siblings one day.
Lian was a girl of probably ten-ish, so with Kaito now 23, it definitely left a sour taste that he was crying in his bed as a kid for his father while his father was busy...being busy.
Would have it been better if his siblings were similarly aged? That amongst the early childhood he thought he had, that he wasn't his father's only child? Who was he kidding he probably had one or two of those too.
She had glowered at him from behind Snake, and it was the first time Kaito could claim Snake had ever looked protective instead of just a foundless enemy. Ever since Snake had found out he truth, he'd been a lot easier to deal with. His ire was with Toichi, not Kaito. At least he thought that before Snake had suddenly shown up with a sister. It felt like a cosmic punishment
Even though Kaito knew they probably existed it was still unsettling confronting it head on.
His father had never met her as far as Kaito could gather. Her other parent was dead and had been most of her life. Toichi had killed him. It had been an accident, most likely. A chemical mixing mishap with the usual smoke and mirrors that had asphixiated Snake's coworker Hibiscus ten years ago. Poor kid was only nineteen, Snake had mentioned with a gruff sound.
His father would probably find some way to justify it. Maybe even justify Hibiscus's age. Maybe Kaito would listen but right now he just stared at the girl picking at her fast food chicken nuggets and traced her face with his eyes.
They definitely had a similiar hair texture, although hers was lighter. Her eyes were a honey brown. She had a blank expression on her face right now but he had seen pictures of her when she was smiling. They shared the same smile.
...
At least Snake just wanted to show her off, not hand her off. Snake's boss had been raising her, apparently. Seeing Takashi occasionally was already enough for Kaito.
Takashi was certainly a...strange child. Even ignoring how he somehow recovered from being born dead he was just... unsettling. Kaito hadn't paid too much attention to Sarah as a baby, but even then he could tell she was just perfectly normal and average. Very good conversationalist even before she could properly talk. Takashi just liked to stare silently at people.
Kaito was certainly dealing with kids far more then he ever expected to, that's for sure. At least Conan had the excuse of not really being a kid. His cousin didn't really laugh when Kaito joked about how many times Shinichi had almost gotten him killed during his time as Conan.
Hmm. Maybe he should collect up all his bastard siblings into one room and trap Shinichi in there. Get some payback and all.
But that meant truly facing how little he actually knew about his father.
