It's been a week since Choi Jung Soo and Lee Soo Hyuk started going to that subway in an almost religious manner. And thanks to Jung Soo's uncle, they were always there when Rok Soo was on shift.
After leaving the subway once more, sulking with another footlong, Jung Soo was two bad thoughts away from getting on his knees and begging Kim Rok Soo to date him.
Lee Soo Hyuk, a seemingly responsible hyung with ideas just as bad, senses this and decided to say whatever unfiltered nonsense came to mind.
“What if you just bribed him?”
Clearly flirting wasn't working. The cute sandwich artist was either dense when it came to flirts, or the flirt was so bad he would deflect it. He almost snorted after the honey mustard incident came to mind.
Jung Soo, who still looked like a kicked puppy, perked up at that idea. Bribe him? Why didn't he think of this earlier? Didn't they get his name by tipping him a bunch of money? Maybe if they tipped even more he could get at least 10- no 5 minutes of his time!
With his usual vibrancy back, Jung Soo turned to his hyung with a large smile.
“Hyung you're a genius! How much do you think we should tip him? Ah, i really need to get some more money-”
Jungo Soo, submerged in thoughts on how to get a date, started walking ahead of Lee Soo Hyuk, who was looking thoroughly amused. The question really was “how much”. They've been spending their money on expensive sandwiches all because they wanted to see the cute employee- it was bound to take a toll on their wallets now.
The eldest Soo grabbed Jung Soo’s arm to drag him away from narrowly walking into another person on the sidewalk.
“Jung Soo-ya, maybe you should think about this after we get back home.”
Home. It was really just Soo Hyuk’s apartment but Jung Soo was there so often than it might as well be his too.
After they made it to the apartment complex, they came up with a plan. Jung Soo would order his sandwich as normal. After he pays for it, he would coolly put the money in the tip jar and ask for a date! No uncool flirting needed. It was a flawless plan! Now all they needed to do was act it out.
Kim Rok Soo had a problem.
There were two customers- well, one- who kept coming and kept coming and flirting with him. He doesn't understand why they were flirting with him though. They came by so often that he was considering switching locations to throw them off.
Were they trying to get free food? No, they tipped enough to get more than they could possibly flirt for. Trying to get information from him? What kind of information would a subway worker even have that they would want?
It was all so confusing. And annoying.
Then it happened.
The two guys came in again, except there was no flirting this time. Rok Soo didn't know if that was a good or bad thing.
“Your total is ₩12,500.”
The guy paid, and then he put a bill inside the tip jar without looking.
“Is this enough for a date with you?”
Kim Rok Soo looked at the tip jar, and then back up at the guy, who started sweating under his gaze.
“... This is ₩1,000.” (around 68 cents USD)
“...”
“Have a good day sir.”
Kim Rok Soo has never seen a guy so ashamed in his life. He genuinely thought the ground would open up and swallow him in pity.
The dark haired man he came with positively cackled and put four ₩50k notes into the tip jar. “This is what he meant to give you. See you tomorrow.”
Rok Soo sighed as they left. At least he knows what they want from him now.
