Charlie’s POV:

It had been a long day at work when Charlie finally stepped out of the station to head home to Bella. Internally he dreaded going home to her, her fragile mental state and the constant nightmares gnawed at him. He was at a loss, he tried desperately to find a way to get his daughter back but everything seemed pointless.

She didn’t talk to any of her friends even Jake hadn’t heard of her, her grades were pummelling and every night she screamed like something was killing her. Charlie shook his head he couldn’t help her no matter what he tried maybe if I sent her back to Renee she would come back to herself. Some distance from this place..might help her.

Just as he was about to drive of a call came through. “Chief we got a panic call from Mrs.Flint on Warner St. she says there was an attempt burglary at her house while she was at her daughter’s house. We already send someone but she insisted on you coming.” Charlie signed it seemed that his night would only get longer than it already was. “Alright.. I’m coming.”  Charlie loved his job but Mrs.Flint and her family were a pain in his ass, there was always something going on in this family and as soon as the police showed up, it was all a misunderstanding and there was no need for them to be involved.

After an investigation they left, the attempted burglary was a raccoon. Again.

Charlie just wanted to go home catch up on a couple hours of sleep before Bella’s screaming would eventually wake him again. He was just going down his normal route when he was a car standing on the side of the road with its lights on. He drove by slowly and stopped. He opens the door, walked over and turned on his flashlight to get a better look of the driver of the car.

The driver wasn’t what he expected to meet at this hour of the day. It was a woman with curly brown hair, deep blue eyes and a dark green coat, she was younger than him, late twenties maybe early thirties at best. She was obviously in distress searching all over her passenger side for something. He asked if she needed help, it looked like she had a flat tire and he offered to call someone for her to pick her up, he knew the phone service at this location was atrocious.

She denied wanting to walk home even as the wind blew harsh and he felt like it was about to rain. After all the animal attacks that happened he advised her not to walk in the woods at night, just when it seemed like she would go anyways it started to rain and she changed her mind. The hastily made an escape into the car and started driving.

She told him her name as it turned out she was working at old Sanders funeral home, he didn’t expect that even in the slightest so of course he questioned why this particular job spoke to her. As she spoke he couldn’t deny that she was a beautiful lady even when she seemed slightly nervous to talk about it, she spoke with so much passion that her eyes almost looked like they were shining in the dim light of the car. He shook his head as if trying to not think about her in this way but he couldn’t help himself.

Just as he was about to ask her more about herself he realised he was at his chosen destination, he stood in front of a dark brown cabin, he couldn’t see much beyond the headlights of his car but he could see the multiple colourful wind chimes that decorated the entrance. As the light shined on them they started to look like small little rainbows in the rain.

She thanked him as she turned to look at him as she walked away, he could only send her a small smile in return before he could say something he would probably regret as soon as he got home.

As he drove home in silence he smiled. He could only think that he wouldn’t mind seeing her again, even if it meant he maybe had to change a tire.
