Notes:

One of the things I loved about the Harry Potter movies, despite the terf that JK Rowling is, is the way that actor Alan Rickman played Snape. He has such an authentic take on the character that it's hard to imagine Snape as anyone else, BUT, Alan was outside of Snape's age bracket when he took on the role, so a lot of people think Snape is older than he is, when makes most forget that he never really had a chance to get away from Hogwarts and grow up. While I don't draw much of adult Snape in this series, I do want to explore themes of youth, knowing yourself, and trauma/trauma's effects on mental health, behavior, and morals. I also think that JK's portrayal of Snape with exaggerated Middle Eastern/East Asian features, kind of turning him into this overly evil caricature in the books, would translate well into topics of internalized racism, self-hatred, and tradition. We, as a society, put so much stock into beauty, that our everyday lives can be drastically changed based on how others perceive us. This honestly started out as a crack one-shot, but I got so invested in lore-making I genuinely (literally) forgot. If you enjoy, comment! It's amazing to hear other's takes on my work.
