Chapter Text
Once morning arose, I woke up and realized that everything from yesterday actually happened. I half expected to wake up and see that everything was just a dream. I began to think about what to do next. Since we all do not know about ourselves, we do not know what we can or cannot do. We also do not know how dangerous the surrounding environment was, so it might be a bit dangerous to explore at the moment.
As I was thinking, I noticed the diary that the mysterious ‘DJ’ left behind. I walked over to it and began to wonder if this diary could help me figure out what to do next. I opened the diary and began reading the first page:
Day one
I have finally made a diary from the surrounding area. Even though it says day one for this, it's more like the first day of month two. Anyways, let me recap what has happened up until now. Once I arrived in this world, I ended up on a hill in the middle of nowhere. I ended up going to explore the area for a while and setted up camp in the woods. The woods happen to have enough supplies for me to survive for a while. After day three of surviving in the area, something very bad happened. My campsite got hit by a very bad hurricane. I had to stay up and make sure nothing flew away. After that happened, I decided it necessary to build a proper shelter. The entire month was dedicated to me building a shelter. After a month, I have the plans down for it.
The next page showed the blueprints for the house. I stopped reading after that. I began to think and I had an idea. This house is pretty much on its last legs. Maybe we should fix it up, since we plan on staying here. But is that what we should really do? I decided that I should get the others' thoughts. I went around and woke everyone up and brought everyone downstairs to decide on what to do next.
“So… Nate, why did you wake us up?” Bryan asked me while he was yawning.
“Well, I woke you guys up because we need to discuss how to go about the future.” I said.
“What do you mean by that?” Ash asked.
“What I mean is that we need to discuss what we need to do inorder to survive.” I replied.
“So what did you have in mind, Nate?” Kaitlyn asked.
“That's what I need you guys for. I have a few options but I don’t know which one is more important to do, so I want your guys' thoughts on it.” I said.
“Well what are the options?” Ryan asked.
“Well, I have two options: we can either try and fix this house a bit because… let’s be honest it’s on its last legs, or we can go survey the area to get a better understanding of it and try and find either food, water, or other people.” I said.
We all began to discuss and weigh the options that I gave. We all discussed and decided that both would be good. So we decided to go into two different groups. Group 1 would consist of Bryan, Misty, and Ash and they would be the ones to fix up the house. Group 2 would consist of Ryan, Kaitlynn, and me. We would be the ones to go out and try to get a better understanding of our surroundings.
After discussing it a bit more, we decided that we all would go explore together for a bit, at least for the first run. We got everything we needed, everything we had, and went off into the forest. After a long while of walking, we reached something very interesting. We found an abandoned temple. “What in the hell?” Bryan said. Some of us looked amazed while others looked concerned.
I began to walk around the temple and the others began to follow. I eventually found steps that led to the entrance of the temple. “Is this really a good idea?” Bryan asked with a worried expression. I turned around and said, “This temple is proof that there are or were other people who were here. We might be able to find out where they are or went if we explore the temple. So yes, I think it is a good idea.” I then turned around and started walking up the stairs. The others looked at each other for a moment, before following me up the stairs.
Once we all reach the top, we see that this temple has been overgrown with nature, however, it doesn’t seem natural. The source of the overgrown plant-life seems to come from inside the temple. The temple itself looks to be too big to be covered by any plant-life. Another weird thing is that the temple looks preserved, in a way. It looks like it has been standing for a long time, yet it could probably withstand another couple thousand years.
After we made our way inside, it seemed to be very dark, however, I had brought the candle and lighter from before with me. I relight the candle and the room was barely visible. As we explored the room a bit, we saw that there were some sort of weird scribbles written on the walls. I proceeded to put the candle closer to the scribbles to see what exactly I’m looking at. As I tried to comprehend what this is, Misty walked up beside me and looked at the scribbles.
“Need some help?” Misty asked with a welcoming smile.
“I don’t even know what any of this is.” I said with a confused expression.
“What do you mean?” Misty asked confusingly. “It’s just simple english.”
I look at her with a very confused look. “What do you mean it’s just english?!”
“Yeah, see this right here.” She points to a random symbol. “This means the word ‘the’ and this one means ‘people’.”
“You can read this?” I ask.
“And you can’t?” She says, sounding genuinely confused.
“I’m pretty sure you're the only one who can. Will you translate this for us?” I ask, holding out the candle holder to give to her.
She sighs and says, “Sure, just give me a minute to find the start to the writing.” She takes the candle holder.
I move away from the wall and go with the rest of the group. We wait for a bit, however, she walks over to us. “Well I found the beginning… but I’m going to need Bryan’s help to read the top part.”
“WAIT WHY ME?!” Byran yells. He looks confused and mad.
“Well, you are the tallest out of everyone, besides Ryan. And I don’t trust someone with a broken arm to lift me up, no offense.” She says as she looks at Ryan. Ryan smiles and shakes his head and says that he takes no offense.
Bryan sighs and says, “Fine… just don’t kick me in the face.” She nods and hands the candle to me. She then brings him to a spot on the wall and climbs onto his shoulders. Then, I proceed to reach up and hand her the candle. She takes the candle holder and puts it near the wall to read the writing. She then began to read out loud the translation of the writing:
Long ago, before time was ever created, there once lived a being known as the creator. He was a being that was very creative. One day, he got enough motivation to create a universe. He got so fascinated by creating it that he began to create more. Eventually, he created an entire multiverse. However, creating something and maintaining something are not the same thing, and the creator knew this. So, he created someone to help him out. A humanoid glitching bunny. This creation would be known as his greatest ally. However, the creator felt his tie to reality start to fade, so he made two more beings. A skeleton and a human. These 3 beings together would protect the multiverses and their creator. The bunny was meant to watch over the creator, the skeleton was meant to protect the prime worlds, and the human was tasked to keep balance with good and evil within each world. One day, the creator felt that he was fading out. In his last moments, he shattered his powers across the multiverse he created, in hopes that his worlds would remain. And in the event that he may return, he could reclaim his power and become the creator once again.
“Well, that's as much as I can read. Everything else is either missing or crossed off.” Misty said. When she looked behind her, she saw that Ryan and Kaitlynn looked confused and Ashley and I looked to be still processing everything we heard. “Did anyone understand what any of that means?” Bryan asked. Most of us looked at him and shook our heads as Misty climbed down off of Bryan’s shoulders. I still had my head down, thinking. A few questions were clogging my mind. What is the meaning of that story? Why was it here? Does it have any connection with DJ? Who is this supposed creator? Why does it mention the multiverse?
All of a sudden, something shook my shoulder and it snapped me out of my thoughts and questions. I looked up to see that Kaitlynn was the one to shake me out of my head. She had this concerned expression as she looked at me.
“Hey, you ok there? You were unresponsive to everyone calling your name.” As she says this, I look around to see that it is just us two in the room.
“I…. I’m fine, I just got lost in thought. Where did everyone else go?” I ask.
“Well, everyone else searched the room for anything and Ryan found some stairs. I stayed behind to tell you where everyone went.” As he says this, she points to a stairway that now has a light coming from it. After I see the stairway, I look back at Kaitlynn and apologize and we make our way towards the stairway.
