the apocalypse is just around the corner. you know it, but you don't care. Instead, you prefer to spend time with him. "you remind me of buddhist monks…" you murmur softly against his head. he smiles. he has a book in his hands and has been reading for quite some time. you wonder if he's trying to guess his fortune again before it all begins.
"maybe i was in my past life," he nodded, agreeing with you. his voice is soft and makes you smile back at him.
the minutes passed in silence, interrupted only by the sound of the pages being read, left behind.
"many will die," you admitted, your eyes focused on a word in his book. "dogs will rule the world." your fingers moved toward it, but he, calm as always, stopped you.
"or cats will manage to fight back and restore balance."
you curled up a little lower and hid in his shoulder. "mhm. i like cats," you sighed, closing your eyes.
one of his hands ran down your back and pulled you closer, stroking your hair.
"i know."
he put his book aside and you felt the fabric fold at your side. he was adjusting himself to hug you completely.
"i hope… everything turns out okay,” you whispered and felt his lips on your forehead.
"we'll only know when it happens."
your eyes opened slowly and you saw him smile.
"and will we be together?"
"here and always."
