Chapter Text
(Andrew's POV)
"I would love to have a little daughter that looks just like you." Andrew told Terry during one of their picnic dates. It was a lovely sping morning and there are families around them who are also having a picnic. Andrew has been staring at a family of three with a young daughter sitting across from them for the past five minutes. Then, he turned to look at Terry who was currently reading a book beside him.
Terry looked at him with a beautiful smile on her face and said "You thought about having children?"
"To be honest, having a wife and children never crossed my mind until I met you. But I could really picture us living in a cottage house with a large garden and a white picket fence. Our daughter would look just like you. We will fill our home with so much love and laughter-"
Terry suddenly pecked him and said "Have I told you how much I love you?"
"Everyday." Andrew answered with a laugh. "And I would always tell you how much I love you more."
"She's alive?" Andrew asked Becky. He looked behind her half-hoping for his daughter to come down the stairs.
"She's not here right now." Becky said. This crushed Andrew.
"Not here? What do you mean she's not here? Where is she? Is she in school?"
"I don't know where she is. She's special, Andrew."
"Special?"
And Becky recounted what happened 5 years ago. After Becky finished, Andrew was rendered speechless.
"I know it's hard to believe me." Becky said.
"She... Jane... She opened the door with... her mind? And she was able to communicate with Terry?" At this, Andrew looked at Terry.
"I've always wondered what happened to her. The police chief of Hawkins and a woman came here once. They were looking for Jane. It was before she came here. Around a year after Jane disappeared, I was able to find a sitter for Terry and I went to Hawkins to talk to him. By then, Hawkins Lab was already closed down because of a chemical leak so I figured it must be safer." Becky told Andrew. "But when I went to the station, I was told that Chief Hopper died during the fire in Starcourt mall and the woman who came with him relocated with her whole family to California."
Andrew listened intently and he said softly, "She must be around 18 years old now. And I was never there for her or her mother at all. I have failed the both of them."
He stood up and said "I'm going to look for her, Becky. I'm going to look for Jane. I'm going to bring her back home."
Then he turned to Terry and kneeled in front of her. He held her hand and said, "I have failed you and our daughter for years. But I'm here now. I'll bring our family together, my love."
In his peripheral vision, he could see the nearest lamp blink for a second. Though it's significance was lost to him for now.
