Emerald was many things yes.. its agreed upon.
A coach
A tree climber
Easily injured
And a mother.
None of those things have anything in common except she does them all, however what always mattered most to her was her kids. Yukiko and kenji were her eldest and in her opinion most self aware and empathetic children. Yukiko was her snow child calm and quiet and ironically white like such while Kenji was more hardheaded and more brutually honest. No dna test needed they are hers. One thing they inherited was their mothers empathy. They could tell when their mother was about to do a dumb decision or maybe even in slight distress. And they were seeing it in action currently as they watched there mother manuever around packing items with their 5 year old sister sitting happily in her suitcase.
"Shirts, underwear, sheets, shoes, rashguards,-" Emerald looked up and turned around as she watched Esmeralda pull out some of her clothes. She sighed softly as she turned around and walked over to the large open gray suitcase
"...sweety momma asked you to not to do that" Emerald took the clothes from jasmine and lifted her onto the bed. Jasmine smiled innocently at her mother then stuck out her tongue before sliding off her and happily walking back to the suitcase and sitting on it. Emerald sighed and pinched nose bridge before turning around and jumping a bit to her sons. "Woah-. Oh hi boys.. whats up?"
Yukiko blinked at his mother before scratching his twists. "Mom where are you.. going? I thought it was off season"
"Yeah. And aren't dads coming soon?-" Kenji added as both of the brothers stepped into the room. Esmeralda pulled out more clothes as she absent mindedly watched her mother and brothers.
"Yeaah it is" Emerald cringed awkwardly and scratched her necked. Yukiko and Kenji looked at each other and squinted. With the topic in kids in mind she genuinely remembered she hadn't told any of her partners about her little deal with Altivo.. thats a battle for another day.
"Then where are you going?" Yukiko added. Emerald looked towards her snow child as sighed softly. She bent down in front of them and sighed. This looked like some cringey ass scene from some movie where the father is leaving because their parents are divorcing. Luckily thats not the case
"Mommy made a dumb decision and now shes going on a show with the other supa league coaches... for off season.." Emerald spoked quickly which caused her sons to lean back in absolute surprise before they clocked it and looked annoyed at their mother.
"All of off season?-" yukiko began
"mom!-" kenji finished as he placed her fingers in his twists and Emerald flinched back. Jeez who knew two 12 year old can make you feel so much shame?
"I know i know! Look!-" Emerald sighed "Ill be back 3 days before off season ends. I know thats not gonna make up for all this. But dont you think its gonna be cool to see momma on tv?" Emerald smiled awkwardly as her twins frowned
' WE ALWAYS SEE YOU ON TV" the twins shouted in unison as Emerald looked away. Emerald sighed and stood up. "And we live with you!" Kenji finished as balled his fists. Emerald cringed a bit as she looked at her youngest twin. He had been getting on edge lately especially as he had recently expressed his annoyance at their mother being absent.
Clearly this was clesring the straw pressuring on the camel's back
"Okay good point, but to be serious. Itll be just a little thing okay? I promise the moment i get back we'll go mango and guinep picking and snorkeling and all the other wild stuff your fathers tell me not to do with you all.." Emerald rubbed both of their heads. She combed through kenji's hair a bit more. She pulled her hand out of their heads but struggled to remove her hand from kenji's which had been recently puffed out. She tugged slightly which caused him to wince. "Sorry- sorry to both of you.. it wasnt a wise decision but its one i made." Emerald sighed and kenji and yukiko looked away before both hugging their mother.
"Oh my babies.." Emerald squeezed her boys tightly and kissed their cheeks. Yukiko and kenji smiled at their mother and she gave them a big toothy grin back.
"BBB stands for what?" Emerald started.
"Big Bad Bastians.." Kenji and yukiko responded tiredly so but with small energy. Emerald smiled knowing thats more than what she deserved
"Good.. besides i think you boys will enjoy being just with your fathers for once. Who knows what'll happen. Like Goalkeeper training, striker training, defender training, midfielder training" Emerald counted on her fingers as she looked up. The boys gave her nasty side eyes as they watched their mother list soccer postions as activities. They really arent fond of soccer especially seeing that the sport has mosr of their parents in a headlock. "oo maybe some basketball.. you know your mama was a pro in your day." Emerald bragged holding her hand unto her chest. Yukiko smiled awkwardly as kenji looked behind his mother to see Jasmine smiling proudly at an empty suitcase. His plan worked for the lost part.
"Well mom theres a new sport and Esmeralda invented it" kenji pointed and Emerald turned around and her jaw dropped. Esmeralda had sucessfuly unpacked her mothers entire suitcase and clearly held no shame as sat in the now empty suitcase.
"Empty!" Esmeralda laughed as Emerald sighed she turned around slowly. Emerald looked down at her two sons.
"Maybe..i should hold off packing till all of you are asleep... how about some ice cream?" All three of the kids cheered and quickly hugged their mother. "Now go get changed and be back in 7!' Emerald lowered her voice and caught herself. This isnt the bucanners these are her kids. She cringed a bit " i mean.. 10 minutes please?" The twins smiled and kenji went over and picked up Esmeralda the. Left the room then closed the door behind them. Emerald sighed as she looked back at her empty suitcase.
"... i really need to be a mother" Emerald bent down as she began placing all her things back into the suitcase
