Chapter 10
Moving forward
Nancy returned to her Bohandi Fighter and got into the cockpit. She powered all the fighter systems and took off. As her fighter was climbing up away from Earth, she took out the device with which her enemy tried to make her back into a Superbohandi and looked at it for a while. It was a… curious device.
As soon as she got into clear space, Nancy set a course for Daneva and jumped into hyperspace.
On her way to Daneva, Nancy looked up the story of Tristan and Iseult. It explained a lot to her, although she was not impressed by this story overall.
After about 5 hours, she exited hyperspace near Daneva. She quickly set course for the Bohandi compound and headed toward the planet. She landed on the same landing field she took off from when she left Daneva for the first time. She disembarked from the cockpit and went toward the building where she had talked with admiral Fa’la.
When she reached the entrance to that building, she was stopped by a Bohandi soldier guarding it.
-State your business here - he said.
-I must see admiral Fa’la - Nancy said. - I am Nancy Blackett…
-Stand by - the guard said and scanned her. - - You’re clear. You may enter. Admiral Fa’la is in her office.
Nancy walked into the building and headed for the same room as before. When she entered it, she saw that admiral Fa’la was indeed there, sitting behind her desk.
-I must say, you’re back much earlier than I expected - Fa’la said when she saw Nancy. - Earlier than you said you’d be back.
-I came because I have to speak with you as soon as possible - Nancy said.
-What is it? - Fa’la said.
Nancy took out the device.
-This is a device I retrieved from an agent of our enemy - she said. - He was trying to use this to make me a Superbohandi again. He suceeded… with my arm, for a moment, because I stopped him.
Fa’la took the device.
-Our Iconian scientists will be very happy - Fa’la said. - They’ve already figured out that what our enemy do to space is basically a very advanced version of what we did to you, which in turn is based on our null field technology. If this device can undo what we did to you, then studying it should provide us with a clue to how to undo what the enemy is doing to space.
-I’m glad to hear that - Nancy said.
-Now, is that all? - Fa’la said.
-No - Nancy said and she told her all about what happened to her since she left Daneva for the first time.
-Well… that’s a lot of to take in - Fa’la said when Nancy finished telling her this. - Are you sure we cab rely on these… Superbohandi rebels?
-They’re fighting against the Unity and have agreed to fight against the enemy - Nancy said. - I think we can rely on them in this fight.
-I hope you’re right - Fa’la said. - We really need everyone willing to help us with this fight. I will send this device to the Iconians immediately. Thank you, Nancy.
-You’re welcome, admiral - Nancy said. - It is so good to finally do something good… To live up to my namesake.
