Chapter Text
Victor rushed into their shared room followed by Beef trailing behind him. Robert chuckled at the sight before he started on cleaning up a little. He was done but the hybrid hadn't come out yet.
Victor POV:
Victor rushed in their shared room and went for his persona drawer in the dresser. He was waiting for the perfect time and this was it. He opened the drawer but the item he was looking for was missing. He rummaged through the drawer, still nothing and ended up dumping the contents on the bed, gone.
"Mal!?" Victor thought for a sec and pulled out his phone to call her. She answered after two rings.
"Vic?! Why'd ya call hon? Thought you were having a date night with Robert?" She questioned as the voice of Alice and Courtney said "Hi" in the background.
"We were but Mal, it was perfect, he got me the sweetest gifts and I wanna...you know..." He trailed and after a beat of silence Mal's excited screams came from the other line
"No Fucking way? For real?! Dibs on either your Best "man" or bridesmaid for Robert" She said as the others excitedly chattered in the background.
"It's yours Mal but...I...I can't find the engagement gift I got him. I put it in my special drawer but it's gone and I was hoping you've seen it" Victor said a little bit of panic in his voice. There was a little bit of silence on the other end, Victor had to check if he cut out"
"YOU WHAT!?" Her demonic voice echoed as the other girls started to berate him too
"I know! I know! I just don't know where it is!" Victor's panic elevates but his spiral is interrupted when Beef was pawing at his leg. Getting the hybrids attention he starts pawing at one of the drawers where his ties and socks usually were. Curious he bent down and opened it and boom a black velvet box was nestled against one of his favorite ties.
"Beef you genius!" He picked up the pup and smothered him in a hug. "Mal! I got it! Beef found it I'm so fucking relieved"
"Great! I dunno how long it's been but your moment's fleeting! Go!"
"Thanks Mal!" He dropped the call only for Robert to enter as Beef was still in his arm and a rather large box in the other hand.
Robert's POV
He started to worry when he can hear his boyfriend's muffled frantic voice coming from the bedroom. He'd already been gone for more that fifteen minutes so he decided to check. He opened the door to find the contents of his 'Special' drawer on the bed, Beef in his arms and a suspicious black box in his hand which he immediately hid behind his back.
"Wow, I didn't know you'd propose to my dog first, I knew I was only a placeholder for that adorable guy. It was fun while it lasted." Robert joked as he leaned on the door frame. but he saw the flash of panic in the hybrids expression.
"Propose? To Beef? Noooo no no no, he's kinda like a son to me" He said putting down the chunky dog and walking over the the man by the dour as he still hid one arm behind his back. "I prefer his Dad" he added with a smirk, now standing before Robert.
"You're such a dork" the man laughed but stepped closer into the hybrids personal space.
"I know but at least I'm your dork" He got down on one knee, "Can I be your dork forever?" He said presenting the velvet box hidden behind him earlier. He opened it and it sparkled as light began to bounce off it. It wasn't a traditional engagement ring, it was a tennis bracelet embedded with brilliant cut diamonds.
Robert was stunned, he knew they were end game but he didn't expect this so early in their relationship. His mind ran a mile a minute as the silence and lack of response began to eat away at the hybrid's confidence.
"I know it's a bit sudden but, it just felt so right...Look we can-" Whatever ramblings the man-bat was going on about stopped as Robert launched himself towards the kneeling hybrid, wrapping his arms around them tight as he buried his face in the fur on Victor's neck.
"Yes! A thousand times yes!" Robert muttered burying himself in Victor's soft fur.
Victor blinked slowly as his mind short circuited but hugged the man in his arms tightly. He stood up abruptly and began spinning them around as Beef yipped happily around them. Robert laughed from where he was as his eyes began to water.
"You're a silly bat (hic)" Robert said as the floodgates opened once again. "I Love you so much (sniff)" he held Victor tight as tears began to fall. They sayed embraced until Robert pulled away giving Victor a chance to clasp the bracelet on his wrist.
The clasp was was custom made and the hybrid began to explain why he chose this over a traditional engagement ring. "See the clasp, R/R for Robert Robertson and flip it around M/M for Mecha man. I toiled over finding the perfect engagement Item, I almost settled for a ring but I know how you like to use your fists a lot so I worried it'll get deformed or damaged in a way. You could always take it off sure but what the point of a ring when you're constantly going to take it off and maybe possibly misplace it like your keys" He laughed as he saw Robert's unimpressed look.
"Anyways, that's the whole story on the bracelet" Victor explained running his thumb over the diamonds. Robert smiled softly at him as he leaned forward capturing Sonar's snot in a sweet kiss which was eagerly returned.
It was Roberts turn, he pulled away from the hybrid as he made his way to his own set of drawers and pulled out a much smaller box. Sonar's eyes grew wide at the realization.
"No way" Vic said in disbelief.
"Quiet, you had your turn. Now it's mine" He got on one knee and opened the box. It was a pair of stud earrings with large moonstones set in the center surrounded by smaller brilliant diamonds.
"We had the same idea, I wanted something you can where even if you go mega bat. so, earrings. I could've gone diamonds too but when I saw these moonstones.. It reminded me of your eyes and how I'd get lost in them" Sonar snorted but he was trying to keep it together.
"You don't have to ask Rob, just put them on me and it's official" Victor said rechecking to bring Robert up. His arms wrapped around Roberts waist as he put the earrings in the piercings he had when he was rebellious. Robert hugged him as he finished and Sonar did the same.
"I love you" Victor said sincerely and Robert replied "I Love you too"
Suddenly a familiar portal opened and almost everyone in their friend group burst through happily congratulating the two. They each showed off what each got for the other as Mal opened more portal inviting others for the impromptu engagement party.
