Chapter Text

Spring returned to the glassland slowly.

It began with green.

At first, it was only thin shoots pushing through soil that had once been blackened and dead. Then grass followed, soft and stubborn. Wildflowers bloomed in places where darkness had once pooled, their colors bright against the memory of shadow. Life reclaimed what had been stolen, not loudly, but with quiet certainty.

Izuku came often.

He stood at the edge of the pit, boots planted in earth that no longer burned under his feet, watching the land heal. The seal was gone, not repaired, not hidden. There was no prison anymore because there was nothing left to contain.

All For One was truly gone.

“You’re doing that thing again.”

Izuku smiled before he even turned. “What thing?”

Katsuki approached from behind, armor exchanged for lighter leathers, his greatsword strapped across his back more out of habit than need. “Staring at the ground like it’s gonna start talking to you.”

“It kind of is,” Izuku said, gesturing to the field. “Just… quietly.”

Katsuki snorted, but he came to stand beside him anyway.

The world had changed since the war.

Musutafu rebuilt, not just its walls but its ways. Knights trained alongside mercenaries now, guild banners flying beside royal standards. The Barbarian warriors came and went freely, no longer treated as monsters or myths. Trade routes opened. Old grudges faded under shared scars.

And Izuku stood at the center of it all.

Not as a weapon.

As a bridge.

He still trained, still pushed himself, but the golden magic no longer burned with a single minded purpose. It answered him as a comfort, steady and bright. All Might’s power lived on through him, not as a burden, but as a promise kept.

Katsuki nudged his shoulder. “You know they’re gonna make you give another speech later.”

Izuku groaned. “Do I have to?”

“Yes.”

“Do you have to stand behind me looking terrifying while I do?”

Katsuki grinned, sharp and fond. “Also yes.”

They laughed.

The circlet rested against Izuku’s chest, warm where it hung from a leather cord when he wasn’t wearing it. He still put it on when it mattered. When he needed reminding of what he’d fought for.

Of who stood beside him.

“I never thought it would end like this,” Izuku admitted quietly. “I always imagined victory would feel louder. Bigger.”

Katsuki looked out over the field, eyes softer than he ever let anyone else see. “Nah. This is better.”

Izuku hummed. “Yeah. It is.”

The wind shifted, carrying the scent of grass and distant fire. Somewhere in the sky, a dragon passed overhead, her shadow sweeping across the land without fear.

Izuku reached for Katsuki’s hand.

Katsuki took it without hesitation.

They stood there together, not as king and protector, not as legend or symbol, but as two people who had chosen each other and fought for that choice with everything they had.

The darkness had been destroyed.

What remained was light.

Not blinding.

Not perfect.

Just enough.
