Chapter Text
After giving Sooyeon a quick call where she informed you about the key placement for the four new boys, they moved their stuff to their rooms. They were in the pairs of two, brothers on the third floor with Sunghoon and you, while childhood besties were a floor below, with, basically, everyone else.
You wondered what demons infiltrated your mind and forced you to go to the third floor last night, but now you decided it wont be so bad after all. The new addition to the mansion added warmth and laughter, which you deeply needed after last nights happenings.
You sent a quick text to the girls to let them know everything was fine, and the four boys joined you and Sunghoon in the main area. Heeseung was on the same page with you about the alcohol (he brought a full backpack like you, but he did not like your preferences. Sunghoon cried a bit when he saw regular beer, though.) You settled on the floor of the room and started playing uno, obviously.
Everyone lost track of time, all of you were drunk and laughing at nothing, not even caring about game rules (except for poor Jungwon), until your phone startled everyone. “dang, I forgot to check my phone…” you mumbled, expecting a call from one of the girls, but it was actually Jake.
“Hey, everything alright?” you asked, wondering where did he even find your number. “Jane,” Jake was breathless, “you guys need to come to the main street, we cant find the girls.” He didn’t have to repeat himself, you were already on your feet not caring about anything else. Sunghoon followed you right away, getting his shoes. The other boys jumped, unsure if to join you or not, unaware of the situation. The fog in your brain cleared up a bit.
“Our friends are missing, you can join us if you wish but someone should probably stay here in case they come back or something.” you started explaining, pacing around the room. Sunoo was the first to speak. “I don’t think I will be of much help out there, so I will bring the blankets out here and make tea or something, so its ready for when you guys get back.” he was already checking closets for more stuff, trying to help in his own way.
“Niki, stay with Sunoo, Heeseung and me will go.” Jungwon was already tying his shoes next to you, you realised. You didn’t notice him until now. You placed a hand on his shoulder, silently thanking him. His tight smile was enough to assure you he wasn’t taking this lightly. You thought his seriousness would stress you out, but you weirdly appreciate it.
He grabbed your hands in his, to break you from your daze, the door was open and everyone was ready to go. So, you took a deep breath and stepped out, and Sunghoon and you started hurriedly leading the other two boys to the main street.
It felt like you arrived in seconds, and on the other side you saw Jay and Jake. “Why are they over there? There’s only woods on the other side.” You mumbled, confused until it dawned on you. “oh, no…” Jungwon grabbed your hand.
“We were on our way back, they were walking in front of us,” Jay tried remembering every detail, pacing around, “They were literally just there, and suddenly gone.” He rubbed his eyes, stress evident. “How could they just dissapear…”
You moved closer to him, rubbing his shoulders. “It’s not your fault, but they wouldn’t run from you like that, so we need to get moving.” You kept trying to calm Jay down while Sunghoon sighed. “so, pairs of two?”
Sunghoon went with Jake, and turns out Heeseung and Jay are friends from middle school, and decided it was a good bonding moment to pair up to search the woods in which there is a potential serial killer to find two college girls, so that left you with Jungwon. You were glad, he was perceptive and you knew you’d have multiple mental breaks if you went with Sunghoon, so you were more than happy actually. You were even happier when you realized he brought flashlights from the kitchen, three of them to be exact. You wondered how is it possible you didn’t notice it on the way here, but Heeseung joked that Jungwon was a bit of a sorcerer. You did not think it was just a joke though.
Jungwon and you walked straight ahead, while Jake and Jay took their respective sides since they were here when girls got lost. You don’t know why you separated like that, Jake said something about middles and sides and other stuff but honestly you couldn’t and wouldn’t try to rationalize your friends disappearance.
You looked everywhere, trying to memorize any detail in case that damned mask appeared again. Jungwon kept checking his phone, making sure he had signal in case Sunoo texted him. He was constantly glancing at you, keeping an eye but he realized you were actually very collected. I mean, yeah it’s a shitty situation but finding your friends is a priority.
You were both looking around, looking for clues, flashlights turned because it started getting dark when you saw it. A slight, barely noticeable glint on the ground. “Stop,” you gasped, kneeling. “It’s a bracelet.” Jungwon mumbled next to you, crouching. “It’s Ava’s… It’s her bracelet.” Jungwon started running his hands through his hair at your words. “Jane, are you aware of how serious this is?” You could only let out a dry laugh, “Yeah, unfortunately.”
You decided to call Jake, but he wasn’t picking up, so Jungwon was about to call Heeseung since you forgot to get Jay’s number earlier, but an incoming call from Sunoo stopped him. “They’re here, but…” Jungwon paced in circles, getting ready to head back to the mansion. “But what, Sunoo?” You could hear a sigh on the other side of the phone. “Just come back.”
As soon as you got out of the woods, you met with other two groups, who were also heading back. They seemed as shaken up as you two were. “I don’t know why, but I don’t feel that much better.” Jay sighed, sensing that something was wrong. “Let’s just get back, we will talk when everyone is there.”
As soon as you entered through the doors, you saw Ava and Claire on the couch, wrapped in blankets. They looked so vulnerable, traces of tears still on their face. As soon as they saw you, they shot to their feet though, rushing to embrace you. “I’m so glad you girls are okay,” you hugged them tighter, your eyes welling up with tears, “I’m so sorry I stayed back, I should have went with you.” Ava pulled away, shaking her head. “Don’t be stupid, I’m so glad you were safe.”
Jungwon stepped closer to you, pulling out a bracelet you told him to keep safe, before handing it over to you. “It’s yours,” you grabbed it and moved closer to Ava, placing it in her hand. “Jungwon and me found it in the woods.” She pulled it closer to her chest. “Thank you, Jungwon. Pleasure to meet you, despite the circumstances.” Claire laughed dryly, reaching her hand for a handshake. “Well, at least our first impression can’t be worse than this.”
“He was in front of us, staring creepily, that bastard.” Claire and Ava were telling their story about surviving a hunting attempt, as they called it. “He was having fun, I swear. He was chasing us, not to actually catch us, but just so he could see us tremble, I’m sure of it.” Sunoo was wrapped in a blanket next to them, gasping in disbelief. Already besties, you guessed. But you were glad that they felt comfortable and safe enough to speak about this clearly.
Jake and Jay were more shaken up, though. “But, we did not see him, how could we not see him?” Jake was pulling on his hair, begging Jay for an answer with his eyes but Jay seemed just as hopeless. “He was in front of us, and we didn’t see him…”
Claire stood up, walking over to Jake before resting a hand on his thigh. “It’s not your fault, Jake. He wanted a chase.” Claire tried to reassure him. “If you guys ran in, he would have chased you too, he is just crazy like that.”
You and Jungwon were sitting on a couch on the other side, silently thinking, until you shot up. “Wait, Claire?” She turned to you, waiting for your question. “What did he look like?” She flinched, realizing they left out the most important part. “Oh,” She sighed, smiling lightly. “We didn’t tell you the best part.”
Every eye was on them, but Ava laughed. “That bastard.” What?
“He wore that damn white ski mask.” Great.
“I don’t think I will be able to fall asleep tonight.” You heard Sunghoon mumble. You almost scoffed but then you realized that he went through a lot of shit on this trip too. “Tell me about it.” Unfortunately, no one disagreed.
“That reminds me,” you started walking over to the landline, “Did the phone ring?” Niki shook his head, “No, I was expecting it but not a single call came through.” You rubbed your eyes, exasperated. “Why couldn’t Sooyeon give us her personal number or something? How are we supposed to contact her if something goes wrong?” Your rambling was cut off by Claire, yelling “Everything is already wrong!”
You huffed as you were climbing up the stairs with other three boys, “I don’t understand,” you were rambling, “It’s only the second day, what will happen by second week?” one more sigh, “Are we supposed to just, like, take it? Like, yes mister psycho please traumatize me?” Jungwon grabbed your hand, trying to calm your manic.
“Don’t get traumatized, therapy is not cheap.” smack “Shut up, Sunghoon, God!”
Jungwon insisted on joining you in your room before sleep, Holmes-style, notebook and all. You actually found it kind of endearing, how into it he was. Maybe he was psycho in his own way, you thought. “Start from the beginning, what happened?” So you told him.
About Ava seeing someone, about a perfectly placed ski mask in the garden, about your so-called trip, because masks don’t float, but Jungwon didn’t seem so sure about that.
“You know,” you started, knees touching Jungwons on the floor. He expected something vulnerable, deep. He should have known better, obviously. “What if your notebook ends up as a book, like Anna Karenina’s? You know, when psycho gets us.” You looked at the ceiling, smiling almost creepily. “Stop being stupid, Jane, we wont die so miserably. I fucking hope so.
“God, I’d be so ashamed if a fool wearing a ski mask in this weather killed me, like, imagine the headline…” You faked a shiver, but Jungwon just rolled his eyes. “Is that your biggest issue with this? People wear sandals with socks, Jane, a ski mask is atleast fulfilling its purpose.” You turned your head towards him, locking eyes. “Which is?” He raised an eyebrow, contemplating if you’re stupid. “Uh… hiding his face?” Your turn to roll your eyes. “Obviously, but why white?”
He rubbed his face for the millionth time tonight, “I wish I fucking knew.”
Soon after, you changed subjects. You talked about uni and life and hobbies and all the other harmless, unimportant stuff. And, just like last night, you fell asleep on the floor once again. Jungwon stayed awake, though, placing a blanket over you. He was unable to sleep, how could he, after everything?
He watched over you for an hour or two, before getting up to grab a glass of water. As he was drinking, he glanced at the window, and he could have sworn he saw something move. He rushed to the window, but he could not see anything in the dark. Every thought he had about leaving you alone and going to his room instantly dissapeared.
It was many hours later when you woke up sore on the floor. You stretched your hands over your head, very much in pain, until your eyes landed on obviously drained Jungwon. “You fool,” You gasped, standing up. “Why didn’t you lay down?” He shot you a glare. “Oh, you wish you knew.”
“So,” Sunghoon said, sipping his morning coffe. “You saw something moving out of the third story window? Second night in a row?” He tried to fix up his grandpa-style bathrobe with his free hand. “What a shocker.” he deadpanned. Heeseung, who ran out half asleep when you started banging on Sunghoons door, tried to interject. “I’m sorry, but why haven’t we called the police yet?” He rubbed his eyes, his sleepiness getting back after the shock wore off.
You sighed, not even sure yourself. “I mean, in my head, it would be kind of rude to call the police on another persons property before notifying them first, no?” you quipped, but it was not appreciated.
“Yes, it is indeed best to let her arrive in three days to their mansion full of our blood and dead bodies, that is much more considerate.” Heeseung scoffed, and Jungwon smacked the back of his head. “What? You can’t say l’m wrong, just imagine the cleaning fee for nine dead bodies!” Sunghoon shot him a glare “Who’s the survivor?” Now, Heeseung was glaring at him. “Me. Obviously, I’m the one that called the police.”
“No, stupid, snitches get stitches.” “Ugh, shut up already.”
Jungwon repeated, well, everything to everyone, multiple times. It’s hard to keep everyone informed when there are ten of you, after all. “So, what you are saying is, that the window in Jane’s room is cursed?” Your eyebrows shot up at Sunoo, “Hey!” Niki scoffed, trying to correct him, “No, idiot, its Jane that is cursed.” “HEY!”
“Jake…” You glared at him, but he just blinked innocently. “Yes, dearest Jane?” You wanted to die. “Where the hell did you find a fucking Bible…” Jake gasped at your crude language, “That’s why you are the one that is cursed, you disrespect God.” You wanted to kill Jake a bit more. “I’m not cursed.”
Jake just turned on his heel, walking away. “Not taking chances, sorry!” A smack to your forehead.
Everyone found a seat around the living area, cups in hand. In your cup there was whiskey though, because you couldn’t survive a single more minute here sober. Heeseung agreed, sipping on his beer in his teddy-bear mug. Jungwon looked at you with pity, while glaring at Heeseung, somehow, simultaneously. “I understand why she is stressed, after all, but…” He shot Heeseung another look, “What the hell got your panties in a twist?”
Heeseung gasped offendedly, “You can’t compare trauma, Jungwon.” You swear your forehead will change it’s shape if you survive this trip.
Claire clapped her hands, “So, Ava and I agreed we will stay in today, so everyone is free to go and explore.” instead of relief, everyone laughed dryly. “Yes, I have been dreaming about crawling between murderers arms, what a splendid time in this glorious, creepy village.” “Stop being so dry, Heeseung.” Jay snickered, shaking his head. “The downtown is actually very nice.” Heeseung just made a face. “Yes, so bloody nice.”
“I will go out today,” you stood up, shaking off imaginary crumbs. “We can take my car if anyone wants to join me.” Jay nodded, agreeing to go with you. “I’ll come too.” Jungwon added, also standing up and heading to his room. “Anyone else?” Sunoo raised his hand, also heading upstairs. “Perfect, let’s get ready.”
In Heeseungs and Jungwons room, it was silent. Jungwon felt that Heeseung was glaring at his back, but what was he supposed to do? “Hey?” a deep sigh followed. “Yes, Hee?” Jungwon turned around to look him in the eyes. “Why are you following her every step? What are you thinking?” Jungwon just shook his head, “Don’t you see? I have a feeling everything is connected to her, like he is targeting her.” He shook his head, hair falling into place. Heeseungs eyes softened. “Don’t let your need for thrill get you hurt.” Jungwon was actually offended at that. “Just because I like researching doesn’t mean I’m enjoying this, Hee. I’m also scared.” He tried to clarify. “I think she’s in danger, and I’m not sure I can help her, but I want to try.” It got quiet once again after that.
“God, I really fucking pray there is a parking space in the city…” You sighed while driving, Sunoo being in charge of the music. Jungwon told you it was a bad idea, but you refused to listen. Now you regret it. Charlie Puth doesn’t really match the vibe of the trip, but to be honest, what actually does? Funeral home music? Yeah, right.
Thankfully, there was a lot of parking spots. You guess it’s because the tourist season is over, Jay says it’s because the town is cursed. You are getting tired of the whole curse-thing going on in their minds. But you did make a mental note to go to church when you get back home. “If we get back home!” Jay had to add.
The city wasn’t busy, which you expected based on how quickly you found parking, obviously. There were multiple stands with treats and drinks, and the prices were almost shockingly cheap. The whole vibe was nice. Sunoo was having the time of his life, looking at all the decorations around, and you found yourself joining him. Jay and Jungwon walked behind you two while you excitedly gasped at every fairy-light and flower you saw. You started taking pictures, joking around. Soon after that Jay forced you to sit at a nearby cafe for some much needed coffee. “I can’t deal with this anymore.” is what he exactly said.
Sunoo sat next to you so you could check out the pictures together. You were making fun of each others funny faces until you saw something. “Wait,” you gasped suddenly, grabbing the phone to check properly. “It’s the same person, in the every fucking picture.” Suno made an unfortunate face, grabbing the phone from your hands to check himself. His face soon crumbled into something painful. “He’s laughing, but the cap is hiding his face, this fucker.” Jungwon was on his feet, squeezing in between Sunoo and you to check. He kept swiping back and forth, almost not believing it, but there was no mistake. Someone was following you, and he wore a white baseball cap. “Fucking splendid.” You heard Jay mumble from the other side of the table, his head in his hands.
“Well,” Sunoo started, and you knew he will say something unfortunate once again, “atleast we aren’t in the woods?” He tried to lighten the mood, but honestly, this was a true fucking nightmare. You felt Jungwons hand on your back, grounding you for the millionth time and you just met him yesterday. “What an amazing bonding time. Being stalked by a psycho murderer together.” You mimicked Jays position on the table, and Jungwon walked over to his seat. He pulled out his phone, probably texting Heeseung what happened so he can transfer the info to other people in the mansion.
You stayed a few more minutes sitting like that, in silence, before heading back to your car. As you neared the car, you saw a small slip of paper and started cursing before even reaching it. “Fucking ticket, how the fuck did they find an issue with my parking, I literally paid for it, what the hell!” You angrily grabbed it to check what was written on the damn parking ticket when you realized it was not a ticket. Oh.
“What the hell, what is that?” Jungwon grabbed it from your hand, noticing the irregular paper. He gasped as he read it.
See you soon, xoxo
Sunoo and Jay walked over to Jungwon to see the fuss, but they just shivered. You just stared at the ground, disbelieving. Until it clicked. “Jungwon, the car.” He glanced at you, hands still holding the slip of paper, waiting for an explanation. “He’s tracking us somehow. We need to figure out how.” His hands were shaking with rage now. “Where the hell could it be safe enough to check?” While Jungwon and you were pacing, Sunoo stopped you. “Guys…” He started, almost afraid of what he had to say. “What if we don’t find anything in the car?” Jay stepped up, patting his shoulder. “We could possibly have an accomplice under our roof.”
You and Jungwon were checking the map to find some private underground parking or any possible place that could give you privacy, since you agreed the garage back in the mansion was definitely not it. You were getting hopeless because, seriously, why would there be information on the maps about what kind of parking spaces each establishment had? You kept looking, though, until it dawned on you. You pointed your finger at a spot on the map, smiling like a mad man. “Seriously?” Jungwon sighed, “We could not find anything better than this?” You just rolled your eyes, starting the car. This time, Jungwon was in the passenger seat but you all agreed not to play any music. “Just tell me when to turn, direction guru.” Jay snorted from the backseat.
“We are here!” You smiled, pointing at the building in front of you. Sunoo gasped. “A gas station? With billion cameras? What were you thinking?” Jay complained, but you were actually prepared. “A gas station with self service car wash.” You glanced at him through the rearview mirror, watching his expression change into one of understanding. “Okay, that could work. I will go and get tokens for the wash…” He sighed, opening the car door.”
You agreed to let Sunoo check the car from the inside, just in case even though you always keep it locked, while Jungwon and you were supposed to check the outside. Jay was supposed to make it look like you were actually washing the car, even though you were not, whoops.
After checking like three times, though, you still ended up with nothing. No airtags, nothing unusal, not a single thing that could even remotely look suspicious. “Should we search once more?” You were already crouching again, trying to check the spot that has been checked a million times by different people. Jungwon pulled you up, holding your shoulders. “There is nothing here, we need to sit down and talk.”
Sunoo, despite originally being opposed to stopping at a gas station, sighed with relief when he sat down at the gas station cafe. “So,” Jay started, obviously disliking the conversation you will have to have. “Did any of you tell literally anyone, anyone, what, how or where we were doing yesterday or today?” Sunoo shook his head. “My phone is thrashed, I barely have signal so I don’t have a habit of texting people what I’m doing.” You nodded, remembering he genuinely barely touched his phone except to take pictures. “Yeah, makes sense, I honestly don’t have anyone to text so no one knew what has been happening.” Jay snorted at that, remembering Jake telling him that you had no friends except for the two girls waiting for you at the mansion. Jungwon was next to speak, “I only texted Heeseung throughout the day, but we would of told him everything when we got back at the house so its not very useful.” Jay nodded, before dropping his head on the table. “I didn’t text anyone anything. So…” everyone else copied his position. We must ask the others back there.”
“I have one favor to ask of you.” Jungwon stood up. “We should not tell them about this whole ‘snitch’ situation, they could be unaware that they are supplying the psycho with info,” Jungwon tried to fix his ruffled hair. Sunoo stopped him, though, “How could they possibly be unaware?” He gasped disbelieving. Jungwon just looked at him, trying to find words, but you understood what he meant. “It could be multiple people,” you started, trying to make it make sense. “Maybe they were texting someone updates while that someone was supplying the psycho with information.” Everyone was in thought, trying to find answers that still didn’t exist. “Unless,” Jay looked up, his eyes wide. “That person is the psycho.”
At the end, you agreed to discreetly try and question others about their relationships and texts. Everyone would take notes of what they found out and try and meet privately to analyze at bed-time. That sounded easy in theory, but in reality, though… You all kept getting distracted.
You thought it was smart to do this in groups, so you agreed beforehand that you would take the girls, Jay would ‘confront’ (his words) Jake and Sunghoon, while Jungwon and Sunoo would try to do it together. It was about half an hour after you started that you realized this separation was pointless. You and the girls kept switching topics and you forgot multiple times what you were supposed to do. You decided to text Jay to see if his situation is going any better, but his quick reply that consisted of ‘oh, shit’ told you more than you needed to know. You shot Jungwon a quick text asking him to bring Sunoo to the garden outside so you could make a new plan. You told the girls to wait for you in the living room until you figure something out.
When everyone arrived at the garden, you sat on the bench, trying to think. “Any other group doesn’t make sense. I can only talk to the girls but they get so distracted, ugh…” Jay sighed, “Same here, literally no progress was made.” Sunoo plopped down next to you, stretching his legs. “Tell me about it, we tried to talk to them but they kept talking about games!” Jungwon was walking around, analyzing. “What if, Sunoo talked to the girls? They like him anyways.” You just showed him thumbs up, agreeing. “Jay can talk to Heeseung since they already know eachother, so it would make sense to ask personal question as a ‘how have you been’ moment.” Jay nodded, standing up. “I will bring Niki into it somehow too.” Jungwon nodded, eyes now on you. “So that leaves us with Jake and Sunghoon.”
You gasped, the situation dawning on you. “I can’t do it, how can I ask them about potential partners or their relationship with their parents? That would be so creepy…” Jungwon just snorted loudly. “You? What about them? I don’t even know them, they wouldn’t tell me anything.” you shot him a glare, “Jungwon, they will think I am flirting.” The glint in his eyes told you he found a solution. But the curve of his lips told you you will not like it. “They will, unless…”
“So, your brilliant idea is,” Jungwon and you were alone now, trying to figure out game plan. Your idea was to do it together, in a group of four, but he disagreed. He said that “to gain their trust, by opening up about my own emotions,” You were picking at your cuticles, stressed. “To basically tell him I’m in love with you so that he feels like they can open up and tell me about his personal affairs?” He rolled his eyes, stopping you. “You are forgetting that I’m also going to tell the other one the same exact thing about you.”
“God, this is going to go so terribly wrong…” Jungwon seemed to agree with that, atleast. “Ready to go commit some romantic perjury?” You just slapped his shoulder, laughing almost silently, “yes, let me go and profess my undying love for you.” He pushed you back, feigning offense. “Will you take Jake or Sunghoon?” You slapped your forehead, cursing the conditions, “God, I don’t know whats worse…” You rubbed your face, trying to ease the sting. “I guess Jake will be easier.”
You found Jake in the kitchen, suspiciously pouring something into his spiderman mug. Probably alcohol, if you had to guess. You didn’t understand why everyone tried to pretend they weren’t drinking the pain away, but you guess you did that too. “Hey,” You stood next to him, giving him your own mug to fill. He obliged without much question, pouring with a heavy hand, not holding back. “Whats up?” He asked with a sigh. You played with your sleeve, trying to find a way to start the conversation you needed. “Not much, actually… Too much.” You once again rubbed your eyes, and Jake just laughed. “Wanna talk about it?” He looked at you, waiting for a response. “Would it be too bad to say yes?”
You ended up in Jake and Jay’s room, sitting on the small couch across the bed. “So…” Jake started, but you were unsure about how to respond, so he just kept going. “You and Jungwon?” He smirked, basically teasing you, but you shot up. “How could you possibly know?” You gasped, not expecting it to be this easy. “You’re not very discreet, let me tell you that. But neither is he.” You shot him a vary look. “What do you mean?” He looked confused, tilting his head to the side. “Aren’t you guys dating?” You gasped once again. “What the hell? No! I just met him like, yesterday!”
Jake did not believe you. “What, no way. Stop lying!” He was now laughing out loud, not expecting this. “I just,” You started, trying to explain, “I feel like this place is making me more vulnerable to emotions than I want to be, I’m scared that I’m starting to like him, that’s not like me…” You were rambling on purpose but oh well, it had to be believable. “I think it could be some kind of trauma response intensifying or like, making up my emotions, do you get me?” Jake placed his hand on yours, taking bait. “It’s human to feel emotions, don’t undervalue them.” he tried to reassure you, so you started thinking about figuring out a route to get your answer. “But how do I know that I like him?”
He sighed, opening up. “I think I also like someone, you know?” Bingo. “It’s this girl, she goes to our uni, you might know her.” You listened carefully, and if Jake thought you were too excited he didn’t mention anything. “Who is she, what does she study?” you asked, expanding the conversation. “She’s in literature, same as you.” You gasped, jumping in your seat. “Were you talking to her this whole trip?” He seemed almost shy talking about it, but he obviously kept it a secret from other two.
“Yeah, she texted me first, actually.” Jake touched his bracelet, playing with it. “A day or so before the trip, she was so kind, she was interested in all I had to say, asked multiple questions, she wanted to know everything.” Your hands started shaking but you were forcing your expression to stay calm. He couldn’t know yet, but you had to figure out who she was. If she was one of your friends, then… “She sounds so sweet!” You tried to seem happy, probably unsuccessfully. “Show me a pic?” You winked, trying to make it seem like you were teasing him. “Alright, here.”
The pictures were… something, definitely. That girl did not go to your uni, no way. “Wow, Jake, is she as pretty in real life?” Maybe she actually did, maybe you’re just crazy, but if you’re right, this is a proper fake profile right there. “Oh, I never saw her, actually. She said her schedule is packed so she rarely takes breaks.” Great, definitely a fake profile. But, this is also on him, how could he not figure that out? “Oh wow, what a hard working lady…” You trailed off, noticing the first picture was dated a week ago. How is he so blind? But you could not possibly tell him, so you decided to change subjects. “So, about Jungwon…” You sighed, having no idea what else to talk about, “Should I just take it slow, then?” you were already running to Jungwon in your mind to tell him what you found out, but it would be rude to just run out on him like that. You talked for a bit more and you made an excuse about having strict skincare routine that was time-dependent. I mean, if Jake believed that girl was real, he will believe anything, right?
You shot Jungwon a quick text telling him to hurry to your room, deciding to talk to him alone first. He walked out of his room just as you were climbing up the stairs, perfect timing, you thought, unlocking the door and pulling him inside. You started rambling right away about Jake and his curious too-hot mystery girl, before even sitting down. He was just as invested, asking follow up questions, before his eyes landed on the window. He ran over, your words a background noise until you abruptly stopped, your eyes following his way. Then you saw it too. Another note.
You felt chills throughout your whole body, standing frozen in place. Jungwon touched it and let out a sigh of relief. “It’s on the outside.” He started, pulling out his phone to take a picture. “What does it say?” Your words were barely audible, but you waited for his response.
Keep looking, I like it when you notice me<3
