Chapter Text

His second day back to school was an even greater disaster. At first it started as expected. He went to class and heard some rude remarks and snickering. He even expected the pushes he received every time someone walked by him.
But what he didn’t anticipate was what happened in the cafeteria. As the day before he sat in an empty corner facing the wall. There he sat all alone while he listened to the gossip all around him. The other students talked about him as if he wasn’t even there. It was all about the match he was abandoned in. About how awful he is. How he ruined the volleyball team. He was so absorbed in what they whispered about him he didn’t even notice the guy behind him that slowly got closer and closer. A shadow loomed over and in an instant he felt cold liquid flow down his hair and drip down his black strands down to his clothes. He was totally soaked. Laughs and chuckles filled the cafeteria as he was sitting there covered in cold milk. He even heard Kunimi and Kindaichi let out a cruel chuckle. That hurt the most. With his eyes locked on the ground refusing to meet anyone’s gaze Tobio ran out of there as fast as he could. He wanted to hide himself, possibly even bury himself to escape the humiliation. But first he needed to get out of these filthy clothes and change into fresh ones. Tobio remembered he still had his volleyball clothes in the gym. He thought about if it was a good idea but the need to shower was greater than the feeling of pure embarrassment he would feel if anyone caught him. As he made his way to the volleyball gym he hoped no one of the team would be there. He needed to get inside shower, change his clothes and get the fuck out of there before anyone found out.
Once he was in the changing room he searched for his hidden key placed on top of the lockers. As he held the small key in his hand he heard voices. Quickly he hid away in one of the showers. Tobio was glad the white curtain hid him as two players entered the locker room. From the voice he knew they were two third years. He was so relieved it wasn’t Kunimi or Kindaichi if they found him he would die of embarrassment. For third years in middle school the two of them had pretty deep voices, Tobio thought. He listened to them change and complain that they had to come to practice early. They had to clean the gym before practice because they were late a few times. Tobio just hoped they would be out of there fast because he feared them noticing him. He wanted to avoid that as much as possible. But instead of leaving, one of them started complaining about practice. He went on and on about how the new setter sucked and that it was all Kageyama’s fault that their team will now never win a single match. Tobio felt hurt at the insults but he understood them. He messed up.
The two players, Tobio didn’t know their names, began talking about the blue haired setter. They even joked about what happened in the cafeteria. “We should give him a lesson for screaming at us all those times. We should set him straight” one of them said with a cruel smirk. The other started frantically nodding in agreement. “We should corner him and show him who’s boss,” he added.
Tobio just hoped they wouldn’t find him. He was beginning to feel nervous. The wish that Kunimi and Kindaichi were here instead of those two consumed him. They hated him but Kageyama was sure they wouldn’t hurt him. Even if he was wrong they would never do it. Tobio was sure.
“Wouldn’t he look so pretty with his face messed up and his body full of bruises.” The both of them chuckled sadisticly. Tobio just thought how he wouldn’t want someone to add to the bruises that already covered his whole body. There were more than enough. He always tried to be strong, but in that moment his mind was filled with thoughts about what they would do to him. He was scared. He wanted someone to save him.
“Yeah totally! Do you think he would tell on us, if we would actually do it?” one of them exclaimed in excitement. The other laughed while shaking his head. He just leaned on the locker behind him as he countered,”Nah, he would probably like the attention. Who would he even tell? No one at the school even likes him. Not even the teachers!” at the last part he just began laughing. As if his suffering was hilarious.
Tobio’s blue eyes widened as he placed his hand on the shower wall. Was it true? Would no one care, if they hurt him? Would they get away with it and leave him to suffer alone?
He was frightened as the realisation that one would save him dawned on him.
Consumed by his fears Tobio accidentally stumbled as a slight gasp left his mouth. Now it was really over.
“Who’s there?” one of the boys demanded to know. They have found him.
He was scared.
Was this the end?
