Chapter Text
Nile had just come home from the gym when she got a text from Joe. After finding something cold to drink, Nile sat down to read the text.
Joe, text: "Hi, Nile. I have some news to share with you, but before I do that, I wanna thank you for your good advice."
Nile, text: "What advice?"
Joe, text: "The advice about that I should put a big diamond on Nicky's finger."
Nile, text: "No, way. Are you telling me you got yourself engaged for real this time?"
Joe, text: "Yep, but instead of a big diamond (I don't like the idea of people seeing a big diamond as an invitation to rob Nicky), I bought a ring with small diamonds. Let me find you a photo of the ring."
Nile, text: "That is very clever thinking about the ring."
Seconds later, Nile got the photo from Joe of the ring.
Nile, text: "Oh, that's a beautiful ring and very tasteful."
Joe, text: "Nicky also thinks that. Wait a minute to write to me because I want to tell you the news."
While waiting for the text from Joe, Nile decided to go to the bathroom. When Nile looked at her phone again, Joe had sent her another photo of his and Nicky's right fingers with rings on them, lying on the marriage certificate.
Joe, text: "Yes, we got married at 1.36 PM today, which was five hours ago, with our family's blessing. And yes, I know you have a lot of questions, but they have to wait until I'm home from my honeymoon. See you next week. Love you, Joe."
Before Nile could text Joe, he had sent one more.
Joe, text: "Oh, Nicky reminded me to tell you before you blow a fuse, I should tell you that as an excuse for getting married today without you, we have hired you to arrange the biggest wedding party in the world in six months. The wedding party will happen on the day Nicky turns 30. We'll talk about the details when we get home. Love you, Joe."
Nile, text: "Enjoy your honeymoon, because we'll have a long talk about what you did once you're home again. And yes, you're paying for the ice cream. Love you, too. Nile. And give your hubby a big hug from me and tell him congratulations on the wedding."
Nile didn't know if Joe would read the text, but she knew one thing: she was going to tell all their friends about the wedding. And Nile couldn't wait to see the chaos unfold once Joe and Nicky were home again.
