Nile was looking forward to spending a week in Malta because one of Joe and Nicky's safe houses on the island was located next to the beach.
Nile: "Joe? Nicky? Are you here?"
Nile didn't get any answer, so she left her luggage in the hallway and started searching for the men. She found them in the garden under a big tree, all tangled up, lying in a hammock. Joe was reading an art book, while Nicky was sleeping in Joe's arms with his ass in the air.
Joe: "Nile. You made it. Remind me I need to hug you once I get up from here."
Nile: "I will. Is he okay?"
Nile looked at Nicky, who, to her, reminded her of a cat who had found a sunbeam and had no plans to move anytime soon.
Joe: "What do you mean?"
Joe looked down at Nicky with a lovestruck look on his face.
Joe: "Oh, you mean the drooling. That is normal and damn cute if you ask me."
Nile: "No, it wasn't the drooling I was talking about. It was Nicky wearing only shorts because that is something you don't see every day."
Nile had known Joe and Nicky for three years, and in all the time she had spent with Nicky, he had always worn at least pants and a T-shirt, so seeing him in pink shorts was a new thing.
Joe: "You are right, and if you want one day, I can tell you the story about how long it took me to get the Love of my life out of the pants and into a pair of shorts on a hot summer day."
Nile put on her sunglasses.
Nile: "I will let you know if I want that story."
Nile looked towards the ocean.
Joe: "Here. A gift from us."
Joe was holding up an envelope, which Nile took.
Joe: "We have reserved a beach chair for you for the entire week and all the drinks you can drink and food you can eat. Go, have fun. You have earned it."
Nile opened the envelope with a smile.
Joe: "Just remember, we are leaving in ten days, and we expect you to show up without hangovers."
Nile: "Noted. And thanks. You are the best."
Joe: "Don't mention it. Go and have fun."
Nile: "I will, and thanks again. Also, say thanks to Nicky once he wakes up."
They exchanged a smile.
Nile: "My luggage. I left it in the hallway."
Joe: "We will handle it for you. See you when you are back."
Nile: "Yes, we will. Any chances of seeing you on the beach?"
Joe: "We will go to the beach party next week, but we are here if you need anything before that, so just call us."
Nile promised, and after getting the things she needed for the beach, she left, while Joe and Nicky stayed in the hammock until they both couldn't ignore their growling stomachs anymore.
