Chapter Text
The sunlight hit his face in lines as the sun shone against his windows, half of it being stopped by the blinds. By the time he opened his eyes, his cheek was meagerly warm. Morning. It was morning already.
Cora sat up slowly and stretched his arms in the air above his head. He inhaled deeply, and just before he exhaled, he felt his phone begin to vibrate. A call. Cora let out a quick, sharp huff of air before leaning over and seeing who the caller was. There was no picture, and the name read “Boss/Brother”.
It took him a small bit to process exactly who this was, due to him just waking up, but after he realized who it was, he picked his phone up. He sighed before answering the call and putting the phone against his ear.
A voice rang throughout the phone. “Corazon.” it said sternly. The masculine voice practically radiated anger, and it was obvious. Cora quickly pulled his phone away from his ear. 12:02 pm. He shouldn't be at work. He's off today. Why would his boss call him? “Do you know why I am calling you?” the voice continued, quieter. Cora put the phone against his ear once more to hear him better.
“No, sir.” Cora answered quickly. He had absolutely no clue why his boss was calling him.
“I'm calling because I want you to have a schedule change. You have no say in this. Your schedule changes to match mine exactly. You come to work when I do. Leave work when I do.” his boss said. Without waiting for a response from Cora, he continued. “I just had to fire somebody. He brought me cold coffee, and had the audacity to be proud of himself. I had him escorted out.”
Cora swallowed. With this change, he would have less time at home.. Which was bad for him. He lives in an apartment not far from the company he works at, and he lives with his adopted son, Law. Cora is aware how much his brother works. He might have to hire somebody to babysit Law.. Despite how mature his son is, worry still creeps into him.
“Corazon?” the voice in the phone rings, seemingly annoyed.
Cora shook his head quickly. “Apologies. How soon will my schedule change, Sir?” he asked.
“Tomorrow. You come in early whenever I do, Tomorrow.”
“Yes, sir.” Cora replied. Tomorrow.. that was so abrupt. Luckily, he didn't have anything planned.
“That is all. Goodbye.” his boss said after a small moment of silence.
“Bye, Doffy.” Cora said softly.
On the other side of the call, Doflamingo scoffed and hung up. His brother was much too soft.
