Chapter Text
Jude felt like he had traveled time. The second he made it back to his base he dived into his bed, not caring to rewrap his leg or do anything. He only thought of sleep. The second the warmth of being engulfed by his blankets hit Jude, he was out. He let the stress of almost dying and his interaction with Sharpness be lulled away by the pure relief of sleep.
When Jude awoke the next morning in a puddle of drool and a thick fog in his head, the reality of it all hit him.
Sharpness had saved him. Him out of all the people. He had no obligation to come to help Jude anymore, but he did. The thought left Jude’s head absolutely reeling. Sharpness has always been the one person who amazed and confused him. The man would mercilessly strike someone down one second. He could heartlessly betray Jude, but in another second, Sharpness turned around and saved him on multiple occasions. Jude didn’t understand how the blonde did both. He seemed like two separate people sometimes.
He thought about spending the entire day in bed. To forgo social interaction or obligations. Jude just wanted to lay here and give himself a day to spiral. He was racking his brain for answers he didn’t have. Jude knew it was a futile line of thought to try and comprehend the mystery that was Sharpness.
A knock pulled him away from his thoughts.
“You can come in.” Jude groaned while rolling over and burying his face in a pillow.
The door slowly opened with a click and in walked ParkerGameBrain. Who happened to be wearing a slightly sheepish look on his face. He shut the door behind him before speaking,
“Dude…Jude, what happened yesterday? You look like shit.”
Jude raised his head from the pillow to glance over at Parker briefly,
“Geez, thanks Captain obvious.”
Parker let out a small laugh, “No seriously, you look awful!”
Jude could hear the guy trying to hold his giggles in. It was annoying, but appreciated. Parker never failed to be an ass, but it was in a way that helped Jude get out of his mental stupor. He bothered him like a younger brother did. Where you find them irritating but with a certain fondness. He would never tell Parker that though. Instead, Jude grabbed a nearby pillow and flung it with all his strength in the general direction he thought the enderman was.
“Pfft- fuck off man!” He attempted to hide the slight smile on his face, but it was evident in his voice.
Parker dodged before picking the fluffy weapon up and flinging it back at Jude. Who subsequently got a pillow to the face and it flopped down comically in his lap.
“Just get out of bed already, lazy ass.” Parker laughed himself out of the room, leaving Jude alone once more with a click.
“Ugh.” Jude was already tired. He clutched the pillow in his hands for a moment- just staring off into space for a moment. Parker was right, he needed to get up, and actually do something productive. Jude was running pretty low on trapping supplies, he honestly hadn’t gone mining in weeks. It was a lot easier when he could just focus on trapping and not on the gathering materials part.
Ugh seriously? Jude did not want to be thinking about that guy right now. He was not pathetic enough for Sharpness to be the first and last thing he thinks about before going to bed and waking up.
Jude shook his head side to side, trying to shake the thought of a particular blonde out of his head. It didn’t really work, but he scooted to the end of his bed, standing up in one swift moment- and almost eating shit the next.
“Hsss!” Jude let out a small hiss of pain.
Oh right! He’d totally almost forgotten how he got jumped yesterday! God…what an idiot…
He quickly resituated himself so he was leaning on his bed slightly. The wrapping on his calf had pretty much evaporated overnight. There was still an ache that made it a little hard to stand on, but Jude was sure he could manage. He tried to stand again, this time slower. There was pain but it wasn’t terrible enough that he couldn't go on with his day. Jude might simply have a bit of a limp…that’s fineeee.
He and his minute limp hobbled over to a nearby chest to pull out some more bandages. In which he once more, wrapped his leg to the best of his ability, aka—horribly. Jude then continued to gather all the materials he needed for his mining trip: extra pickaxes, food, a water bucket, torches, and he was off. Luckily, there was a massive cave system right next to his base, so Jude didn't have to travel far. Once he arrived, a giant ravine greeted him. The top of it was already lit up with torches due to a previous exploration he’d done, but the rest of it was unexplored. Jude needed this trip to be smooth sailing because he hated resource gathering.
He would much rather have the materials he needed magically spawn in his inventory, but that was obviously impossible. As he carefully built his way down the ravine, it was apparent how not quick this mining session was going to be. The ravine seemed to stretch on for miles visually, and mentally, Jude was already drained. Sadly, he would have to get used to doing this again. There was no loyal and surprisingly bright man to do it for him. It was a lot easier when he could give Sharpness a list, and within an hour, the efficient man would have all of it plus some.
Jude found it amusing how the blonde would arrive with shulkers upon shulkers of materials and then would refuse to leave until he acknowledged the man in some way. It did not matter if he was mid-build or in conversation with another person, Sharpness never left before getting some form of recognition from Jude. It reminded him of a cat bringing you a dead mouse to show you how it protected the house. In a way it had been completely way too adorable. How Sharp would sit there bored looking, but once he nodded or smiled in the peridot-eyed man's direction, he lit up brighter than any star Jude had ever seen.
God damnit. He hasn’t even really been focusing on mining. He’s been zoned out reminiscing about Sharpness again. Seriously, Jude needed to get a handle on this whole, “Thinking about your enemy turned ally turned friend turned enemy” thing he had going on. It was not near normal to have the guy grace his thoughts so often. Shit that can’t be good.
Just as Jude was working his way into another mental nosedive, there was an alert on his communicator. He set down his underused pickaxe on a piece of stone and opened it. The message read as followed:
Twirps: HELLO EVERYONE! I know how you all enjoyed the pvp matches I set up last time. So, I am formally making the announcement of another event, hosted by yours truly.
Twirps: IT IS A SCAVENGER HUNT!
Twirps: Meet at spawn later today for the details of what you will be looking for, plus the teams you'll be in.
Twirps: The winning team gets +2 strength, I’ll see you all there.
Jude watched the announcement fling itself in front of his eyes and all he felt was indifference. He honestly did not want to participate in a scavenger hunt. Sure, his leg was better now, aka he could walk on it and hide his limp a bit more. The main deterrent from this event was the possibility of seeing a certain braided-haired man again. Jude knew it would somehow make his thoughts worse if he had to interact with the guy, and he imagined Twirps would be the one picking the teams. That guy would find some sick humor in pairing him and Sharp together, he was positive of that.
Simply because of that fact alone Jude would not be stepping a foot near spawn. Oh, and there is always the possibility of being jumped again…great. He picked back up his pickaxe, ready to ignore any other notifications he might receive. Jude continued to make his way through the ravine which had now turned into a wind cave. He followed it for a bit before checking his coords, ‘-25’ was his Y-level and yeah, he needed to go much deeper for redstone. Jude knew the deeper you went, the more common redstone was. The best level for it being around Y= -58 to -59. However, he really did not want to go down that far.
Luckily, or unluckily the way you looked at it, it had not even been ten minutes when he got a ping on his communicator. As he stated earlier, there was no way Jude was going to even glance in the direction of the device, he would leave it in the cave if he could. In spite of his resolve, it dinged three more times after the first.
“Ugh.” Jude groaned internally and externally before picking it up and checking his notifications.
ParkerGameBrain: Jude
ParkerGameBrain: Judeeeee
ParkerGameBrain: Did you see Twirps thing
ParkerGameBrain: Do you wanna participate?
Fuck no. He did not want to participate in a borderline worthless scavenger hunt. To Jude, it was too much work for +2 strength. That amount would help Parker get up to +5, but couldn’t the enderman do it without him?
Jude felt himself sigh and rolled his eyes.
JudeLow: yea I saw it
JudeLow: Do you really want to participate in that scam?
ParkerGameBrain: Yeah dude!
ParkerGameBrain: +2 would get me to five, but I guess there wouldn’t really be much in it for you.
ParkerGameBrain: Wait, what do you mean ‘scam’?
JudeLow: There is no way you think Twirps is actually going to give the winner +2 strength.
JudeLow: Plus, it’s a scavenger hunt. You really want to spend the next couple of days scouring the world for random shit.
ParkerGameBrain: C’mon mannnn. It might be fun! Please bro
ParkerGameBrain: I need that +2 strength
ParkerGameBrain: What do I need to do for you to agree?
JudeLow: Hmm…
JudeLow: maybe…
JudeLow: You could collect materials for traps for me?
ParkerGameBrain: really? that’s it?
JudeLow: Do you want me to ask for more or something?
ParkerGameBrain: NO NO, nah dude no, yeah I’ll do that for you!
ParkerGameBrain: meet back at our base in 20?
JudeLow: sure
He closed his communicator, collecting his pickaxe and the resources he managed to get, Jude began his journey to the surface.
God he had gone pretty far hadn’t he?
Jude was hundreds of blocks away.
That’s awesome, yeah.
He could already feel the pain in his calf increase at the mention of trekking back to his base. Jude really was not looking forward to then hauling his ass to spawn, with all his gear this time, in case he did get jumped again. He wouldn’t make the mistake a second time of believing Strength SMP would ever have a normal-non headache inducing day.
Jude realised he was really, really tired. He swore he wasn’t usually this pessimistic. He liked adventure and gathering materials. Recently, though, every day dragged on. It felt like pulling teeth to get out of bed in the morning. The moment he reached his bed he crashed into it, as if Jude hadn’t slept in days. Which he knew shouldn’t be the case, because the rabbit probably slept over eleven hours each day.
He used to stay up late working on traps, but a lot of his creative spark had died. Jude would either re-mark the same traps, or sit there staring at repeaters like a freak. That’s why he had only been checking traps the other day. Jude had lost the inventiveness that he usually carried with him at all times. It was strange. He has been creating constantly since the day he learned how to make his first trap, but nowaydays—nothing. He used to have ideas that would flow through his mind, often too fast for the bunny to track. Yet, his mind would go blank anytime he tried to think of a new contraption.
It wasn’t normal, maybe it was a little sad, but Jude had lost his spark. His whole shift in reminder had started a couple weeks ago after—fuck.
Yeah nevermind. Jude wasn’t going to worry about his sudden lack of a brain. It was not worth it to go down that path right now.
He continued to follow his tunnel back out into a part of the ravine he’d originally been in. Jude looked up at where he needed to go and he wondered why he stopped mining himself. The cave’s terrain was gorgeous. He was still deep enough that there were glow lichen and cave vines with glow berries on the end of them. There were splashes of moss that adorned the walls. The berries provided a soft orange light that bathed Jude’s surroundings. While the lichen’s light contrasted the warm tone with a light blue. The colors seemed to dance on the carven’s walls and Jude couldn’t help but be enamored by them.
He was sure Sharpness would have loved to see something like this. He could imagine the reflection of the glow in the man’s eyes. How they would twinkle, and Jude would get lost in the reflections that he’d stop looking at the cave at all.
Anddd that's enough of that.
He tore his eyes away from the lush cave and set his sights back on making it to his base successfully. Jude used cobblestone to build up the side of the mixed rock-moss walls. He made sure to track his way back via the torches he previously put down. Before he knew it, he was back at the place he’d first gone down into the cave from. Jude carefully made his way up until he finally broke the surface. He then began the walk back to his and Parker’s base. Well his base, that Parker moved into.
He wiped a bead of sweat off his forehead. Every action was a little more difficult because of his leg. Although, now he was easily able to hide the limp by putting all his weight on his good side.
To Jude—it was a none issue. His calf would be fine in a couple of days if he ate some gaps and didn’t get into any other altercations. He could pray that he wouldn’t get in any fights, but it was basically guaranteed because of the scavenger hunt event.
It was going to be a long day…
At last, Jude arrived back to his base, and he felt the urge to kiss the ground. The trudge back had been grueling. All he wanted to do was pass out for the rest of the day. Jude could sit back, relax, try to sketch and actually come up with a new trap design. It was a fleeting idea though, as the yellow clad enderman came bounding toward him.
“Hey! You’re back! Are you ready to go yet?”
Excitement was flowing off of Parker, as the guy was basically bouncing up and down.
“Yeah in a sec. I gotta put all the stuff I collected in a chest and grab some gear just in case.” Jude said while making his way towards his bedroom.
“Okay yeah, let me know when you’re ready to head out!” Parker called out from behind his retreating figure.
Jude opened and shut his door. Quickly walking over to a chest and offloading the stacks of cobble and the bit of redstone he’d found. For a short mining trip, the amount he collected wasn’t too bad. Jude was proud of himself for even going at all. He turned to a different chest, sifting through it to grab gapples and windcharges. Then, he put down his e-chest to grab a back up set of armor and some potions. After organizing everything in his inventory, he made his way back out of the room and to Parker.
“I’m ready to go now.” Jude sighed, axe in hand, his body weight shifted to one side.
“Okay! Perfect, let’s get going then!” Parker practically ran up the stairs to exit the base.
Jude, begrudgingly followed him. He walked a couple of blocks behind the guy the entire time. There was idle chatter between them but nothing too intense. This entire scavenger hunt would only be worth it if they won and got Parker the +2 strength. It would be incredibly valuable for the enderman to be at +5 and able to use his ultimate. Jude was a good enough fighter now, but if Parker could also have a chance in combat that would be perfect.
As they approached spawn, a large number of people were gathered by a stage. Of course as soon as Parker and him weee close enough, he saw Sharpness. The blonde was sitting and laughing next to his teammate Saparata. Sharpness turned and they locked eyes for a moment. The laugh that had implanted itself into Jude’s mind slowly degraded at their eye contact.
He felt a pain rack through his body.
Huh.
Jude quickly averted his gaze and sat down in an empty seat next to Parker. He watched as Twrips walked onto the stage calmly, tapping the microphone, sending feedback that ceased everyone’s conversations. Jude put down his ears for a moment at the harsh sound. Twirps cleared his throat before starting to speak,
“Hello everybody! I wanted to thank you for coming and participating in the scavenger hunt! The first thing I will be doing is explaining the general guidelines and rules. Number one, please do not grief the collection area. This area will be labeled with each team's members and a chest that will collect each item. This also means that you are not allowed to sift through other teams' chests and steal an item you need. I and some others will be monitoring this area–so please just do this legit.”
Twirls adjusted the mic a bit before continuing,
“Secondly, you will have 3 days to collect everything. I will be handing each team a list that will tell you what you will be hunting. You may not swap lists or erase an item on it. I have backups of the items everyone should be collecting. Yes, your guys’s lists are not exactly the same, however they are of around the same difficulty. This is for fairness and to kind of prevent people from fighting to get the same thing at the same time. Lastly, this is not a pvp event. You can fight each other all you’d like, but all that will do is waste your and your opponents time.”
Jude watched a couple of people get hype at the idea of killing people. A bit of laughter echoed in the crowd.
Twirls tapped the mic again to get everyone’s attention, “One last thing! I will be announcing the teams out loud shortly, make sure to listen to your name. Come up to the stage and I will hand you your list as well.”
Jude zoned out during this part. He didn’t really care about any of the teams or rules. He just wanted to get this shit over with. A headache was threatening to creep itself into the back of Jude’s head, so he was already over this event.
“Saparata and Sharpness, you guys are paired together please come up to the stage” Twirps called out the one name that haunted his every waking thought.
Jude watched as Sharpness and Saparata made their way to the front, chatting together, and they collected their list. He watched as the blonde’s braid flowed in the wind. He had a red ribbon in it today.
Red looks nice on him.
He wished it was more of a magenta though. Sharpness would look great in magenta.
Jude couldn’t control his thinking, but as soon as Sharpness was there—he was gone just as quick. He disappeared in the crowd, who were now all up and talking in their teams.
“JudeLow and ParkerGameBrain” Twirp finales said their names.
He and Parker walked up to the front of the stage, grabbing the list and heading back to their seats. Their list to gather read as followed:
- Enchanted Golden Apple
- A goat horn
- A Conduit
- Deepslate Emerald Ore
- Pigstep music disc
- A blue orchid flower
- 10 diamond blocks
- 5 dry sponges
- 5 ancient debris
- A magenta bed
Some of the stuff on the list would be easy, sure, but most of the items were a hassle to obtain. Jude wasn’t even sure where the nearest jungle or a windswept hills biome. He had no idea how the lists were fair if one of the things they have to get is the rarest ore in the game.
Jude couldn’t complain though, if they won this their team would have a huge advantage. That thought was probably the main one crossing everyone’s minds.
Twirps spoke again, “Alright, those are all the teams announced! It does not matter which order you get the items, as long as you have them all. The first team who finishes in the three day time period wins. If no one finishes the team with the highest number of items collected wins. In case of a tie, you’ll do a final speed scavenger round to determine the winning team. Thank you all for coming your time starts n—”
Twirps was cut off by the falling and exploding of TNT from the sky right next to him. There were a couple of more explosions that hit the stage next to Twirps, who was now rapidly exiting the area. Jude wondered who would bomb Twirps meeting for seemingly no reason when suddenly his brain turned on.
There was one man who had been absent this entire time. The giant pain in his side, none other than, _Tai.
Goddamnit!
Jude felt a little like an idiot. Of course someone would trap the meeting area and it just had to be Tai. The guy was most likely pissed that he wasn’t able to kill Jude the first time and here he was seeking revenge for his failure. Tourmaline eyes glanced up to see a TNT headed straight for him. He quickly tackled Parker away from the explosion as it went off feet away from them. In the ensuing chaos, Jude heard an all too familiar laugh.
Tai cackled as he waterbucket landed in front of him,
“Hahaha! Oh Judeee, you are so fucked! I’m finally going to wipe that smug look off your face!”
He got up as fast as he could. Potions splashed beneath his feet as he pulled out his axe and pointed it at Tai.
“Good luck trying! The only reason you got so close last time was because you jumped me when I had nothing on me, loser!”
Tai swung into action, forcing Jude to block and counter with a swipe at the man's torso. He didn't stop there, he kept attacking Tai, hoping to not give the guy a moment to breathe.
Tai seemed to be stumbling a bit, struggling to counter Jude’s blows. The rabbit may still be slightly injured, but he knew how to fight.
He learned from the best after all.
Tai found his footing and windcharged into the air in order to gap. Jude stayed underneath him, getting the occasional hit when Tai came down for a second. Without notice, Tai had flipped around and attempted to mace him.
“AH! Haha! You have a mace, no way dude!”
Jude shouted as he retreated a bit, splashing himself with more speed and eating a gapple. Tai followed and swung, barely missing his stomach.
Whew…close one!
Jude thought, just before parrying another strike. He counterattacked swiftly by bending down and swiping at Tai’s legs. The voidling took the hit directly to his upper thighs but it wasn’t deep enough to stop him from slashing at Jude’s already injured calf. The reopening of his wound made him fall back, allowing time for Tai to get his bearings and attack again.
Jude could feel the gush of blood already beginning to run down his leg. He winced at the feeling of it. Tai swung his axe at Jude, disabling his shield for a second. He countered with a sword swing at Tai’s chest, who narrowly dodged it. The pain of the previous day plus the pain of Tai slashing it open again was making Jude’s head hurt. He kept blocking and attacking Tai’s hits but he felt himself slowing down with every meeting of their swords.
“Come on Jude, you’re getting sloppy!!” Tai hit his sword especially hard and sent it flying. The sword landed a couple of blocks away from him, but he didn’t have time to turn around and grab it. He tried to pull out his axe, but it was too late. Tai was already mid-swing, about to hit his chest dead on. Jude did the only thing he could think of, he deflected the sword by grabbing it in its motion.
He immediately felt the pain of Tai’s weapon inserting itself deep into his palm, but he had to act now. Jude pulled against it, ripping the sword straight out of Tai’s hands and into his. The hilt of it burned against his hands but he had to finish this. In one desperate motion, Jude swung the sword down and through Tai’s chest. The man breathed through it and stared distantly for a second before exploding into a pile of items and particles. Jude felt himself smile for real, not the half-hearted one he’d given Parker in the morning.
“WOOOO! That’s what you get you asshole! Haha!!!” He laughed almost manically. His chest rose and fell in rapid successions, he felt alive in a weird way.
Is this what Sharpness feels like?
Jude’s body was screaming at him in fourth different languages, but from the euphoria of his victory alone, they were no more than whispers.
“Hahaha…” He let out another series of laughs. Jude was in a delightful mental fog, he couldn’t even smell that awful stench that came after someone died. It was like all his senses were heightened and dulled at the same time. Jude was letting his ecstasy wash over him when he heard a voice call out his name,
“Judeee!”
He turned and fuck there was N00B.
“You didn’t really think that it was just going to be Tai fighting you right? I may have gotten here late because of how high up I was to drop that TNT, but you’re going down now!”
He watched lazily as N00B approached him, the man seemed to be in slow motion, like Jude had made everything delayed. His arms or legs wouldn’t move, they were planted firmly to the ground. Jude was ready to accept death at the hands of the man that was approaching him. He’d gotten his justice in a sick and twisted way. Just as he zoned out waiting for the strike, it never came.
Wow this has been happening a lot lately.
Jude slowly opened his eyes to see his vision filled. Filled with beautiful shades of blonde.
Sharpness?
“Back the fuck off N00B! Are you into cleaning up your master's messes now? What a loyal dog!” The blonde laughed.
“Haha! Funny of you to say, looks like you’re defending your owner right now as well!!” N00B shot back while struggling against Sharpness’s sword.
“Ugh,” Sharp let out a grunt as he pushed against N00B’s and his connected weapons, sending the guy flying to the ground.
“C’mon Jude we have to go now. Can you walk?”
Suddenly, the ground felt like a nice place to rest. With its comfy grass and—
Jude felt himself hit the ground hard. His vision blurred slightly, swimming with shades of green, yellow, and red. The colors together looked quite beautiful if Jude could say so himself.
“Jude? JUDY?!?” Sharpness’s voice was muffled.
The coldness of the ground was comforting. It felt like fresh lemonade on a summer’s day. He wanted to sink into it, to let the cold take over his whole body–relief cascaded through his entire body.
“Get the fuck away from him N00B!” Sharpness growled.
Was that still Sharp? Was he still here?! God, this shit hurts, my head fucking- ah…
—and then there was nothing.
Jude awoke with a panic racing throughout his chest. He sat up quickly. His heart, head, hands, leg: all of them were pounding. His chest was suffering a horrible case of, ‘I am caving in’, syndrome. It throbbed anytime Jude inhaled or exhaled. He felt like the epitome of hell. He squeezed his eyes shut in response. The pain in all of his body was almost too much to bear.
The door clicked open.
“Oh. You're awake.”
Jude un-squeezed his eyes to see—
“Sharpness?” His voice was hoarse and each syllable scratched his throat.
“Yeah it's me.” The blonde replied easily. It was only then Jude noticed the plethora of first-aid he was carrying in his hands.
“Why are you here?”
Sharpness sat down on a chair next to him, setting his supplies down on a small bench next to the chair.
Jude then realized that he was back at his base, back on his bed, on top of the covers. He didn’t have the energy for the embarrassment he felt, but heat flooded his face.
“I’m here because you are a dumbass.” Sharpness chuckled slightly before continuing,
“I brought you back to your base after you passed out and I wrapped all of your-uh, wounds.”
Ah, that’s right, he got fucked up in that fight with Tai. God…Jude wanted to stop existing right now. It was embarrassing enough for Sharpness to have seen him like that, but it was even worse that the guy was still here and had obviously fixed him up.
He really did not understand Sharpness’s brain.
Jude glanced down to see—yeah, his hands were wrapped up. Though it seemed the bleeding hadn’t stopped yet, as a trickle of red was beginning to seep through them.
“Oh, I-uh. I don’t know what to say man.” He chuckled awkwardly, looking away from the blonde.
“That’s fine. You do not have to say anything. You just listen.” Sharpness stated bluntly while opening up the first-aid kit he brought with him.
“W-wait what?!” Jude stammered, trying to stop Sharpness from moving, but it was futile due to his current…state.
“Do not move Jude. Turn towards me. Give me your leg.”
He wanted to fuss more, to disobey and tell Sharpness he was fine—but one look in those peridot eyes told him to swallow his pride. Jude shifted as best he could so that his legs were facing Sharpness. The blonde simply grabbed him and pulled Jude close enough that his leg was in Sharpness’s lap. Who proceeded to carefully unwrap the bandages on his calf, discarding them to the side. He then grabbed a wet sponge from a bucket and began wiping Jude’s calf tenderly.
Every tiny touch of the sponge sent shivers down his spine. Sharpness had never been like this to him. It was all new. It wasn’t necessarily unwelcome of course, but it was making Jude’s spine tingle.
“You really need to be more careful in fights. How did you let Tai get the best of you like this, hmm? Did my lessons melt out of your brain?”
“No, uh-” He tried to respond,
“Shush. Do not say a word. Listen.” Sharpness rinsed out the sponge in the bucket and set it off to the side. After that he grabbed some fresh bandages and began wrapping Jude’s calf.
“You seriously don’t know how to take care of yourself when you get hurt, do you? You should at least know how to wrap a bandage properly. And, ugh,” he sighed, “Do not even get me started on what kind of an idiot you must be to still engage in a fight with someone when you haven’t healed from a pretty serious past injury.” Sharpness finished the wrapping, cut it, and secured it to itself.
“Genuinely, Jude, do you just think that wounds don't get infected? Yeah, when we die pretty much every past wound heals itself, but that doesn’t mean that when you get hurt you don’t take care of yourself. Your leg was one bad day from becoming infected-”
Sharpness carefully lowered his leg back down, gesturing at him to scoot forward and give him one of Jude’s hands. The bunny obeyed silently.
“Ugh. You are such a dumbass. Such a giant dumbass. Why didn’t you at least get Parker to help you? He would have and you know it.” Sharpness said while repeating the same process as before, but on his left hand.
Jude could admit, the attention felt really nice. Even if the blonde was lecturing him, he wasn’t yelling. Sharpness was tenderly changing all of his bandages out and Jude was sure he had died and ended up in an alternate reality. A perfect, lovely, Sharpness-is-his-nurse- kind of reality.
“You need to start paying attention to yourself. Have you even been sleeping lately? Your eye bags are taking over half of your face.” He finished Jude’s left hand and grabbed his right, starting to unwrap the blood-soaked bandages.
I mean look at you Judy. Like. Come on dude.” Sharpness let out a huff that sent a strand of his hair dangling in front of his cheek.
Jude felt the overwhelming urge to tuck it back behind the blonde’s ear.
He resisted that urge.
Sharpness finally completed the bandages on his final hand and set it down softly. For the first time since this process began, he looked Jude in the eye. The effect was immediate, a blush crept itself across his face, climbing to the tips of his fluffy ears. Jude broke the contact first and spoke for the first time in several minutes,
“I…How did you get so…good at this?” He swallowed a lump in his throat.
“You don’t become the deadliest player on the Strength SMP without getting injured sometimes. Not that it happens often, but, you know.” The smugness in his tone was clear, but despite that, Jude let out a quiet laugh. The bunny softly punched the blonde's shoulder, smiling at him wistfully.
How can a man get to be so beautiful?
Jude asked himself, even though he knew the answer, Sharpness has always been pretty.
Sharpness clears his throat, “Anyways Judy, I have to get going. You were out all of last night and it’s about mid afternoon now. Me and Saparata have a scavenger hunt to win!” Sharpness winked at him playfully. The man goes to stand up, but in a swift motion Jude reaches out, and grabs onto his armor. As soon as the bunny touched him, Sharpness jerked his arm away like it had been burnt.
“I-I wanted to tell you thank you. For everything. For taking care of me and bringing me home. I can’t imagine what would have happened to me if you hadn’t stepped in. Not that I needed it.” Jude said the last sentence in between fake coughs while smirking up at Sharpness.
The blonde simply rolled his eyes and smiled back at him.
Jude’s pretty sure he felt that smile piece through his very soul.
“Call me in a couple of days or so, I will need to change your bandages again.”
Jude nods his head at Sharpness’s words and stares as the man exits his room with a small smile and a final wave. He laughed quietly to himself as he swore the slightest bit of pink had taken over the blonde's face.
Cute.
