7 INT. TYLER'S BASEMENT - AFTERNOON, DAY 6
Boone and Tyler sit on the couch, space between them. Jon sits on a nearby chair. They’re all on their phones, no one talks. Jon is stressed, Tyler is antsy, and Boone is sad. Jon looks up at Tyler and Boone. He sets his phone down.
JON
Bathroom.
He exits.
Beat on Tyler and Boone.
BOONE
Can I… show you something?
Tyler nods.
Boone grabs a HANDWRITTEN SCREENPLAY from his BACKPACK.
BOONE
I know you don’t want to make the film anymore, but I thought you might like this anyway.
He hands it to Tyler who reads it over.
BOONE (CONT'D)
Jon’s ending sucked and I thought maybe I could try giving it a go.Try for something less… cheesy.
Tyler smiles.
BOONE
I put in the stuff we talked about… Lovers’ Lake gate, lettergate…
Tyler turns a page.
TYLER
And birthdaygate.
(beat)
This is great, Boone.
Boone nods and smiles. They share a moment.
Jon hears them from behind a wall. He’s relieved.
BOONE
Again, we don’t have to film it or anything, I just thought you might like it sin—
TYLER
I want to. I want to. This is better than anything Jon could’ve ever written.
They share another light moment.
Jon reenters.
JON
What about me?
Tyler passes the screenplay over to Jon.
TYLER
Look what Boone wrote!
Boone is lightly flustered.
Jon skims it over.
JON
It’s long. How do you want to do it?
TYLER
Isn’t that your job, Mr. Director Man?
Jon rolls his eyes.
BOONE
Film the build up first, then take a break… a day maybe… then we can…
He looks at Tyler, still not quite believing he’s game.
Tyler nods.
TYLER
An hour, maybe. Catch our breath.
(beat)
From the swimming.
Jon can practically smell the tension. It’s tactile.
JON
(mumbling)
Before you lose it again.
Beat on Tyler and Boone.
