Chapter Text
You shot up from the couch, eyes wide and blurry. You had woken up in a cold sweat. It was still the middle of the night, you guessed. It was dark outside, you could hardly see your hands in front of you. You grabbed your chest, your heart literally pounding against your chest so hard you could feel it with the palm of your hand.
You slowly stood up, your legs shaky and nearly giving out from underneath you. Your body trembling, and it physically hurt. You felt anxious, your heart was racing with an emotion you couldn't figure out. Was it.. fear? You had no reason to be scared. At least, you're sure you have no reason to be scared. Now's not the time to be paranoid.
It was confusing. You had just woken up and you feel like this. Like you were being watched by something or someone. No one could get into your apartment, everything was locked and no one could force their way in without setting off any alarms.
Your muscles felt tense as you started to walk to your bathroom. You kick the door open, stumbling to try and hold onto the sink. You didn't look at yourself in the mirror, knowing it'll only make it worse. Your chest hurt as you breathed in and breathed out, clawing at the sides of the sink.
You hung your head low, taking in slow breaths as you tried to calm yourself down. What even triggered that to happen? You'd find out later. Right now you need to calm down before you got worse. So you took a deep breath, holding it in for a moment before gently releasing the air in your lungs.
You felt better. You were able to breath properly now, which is a good thing. You looked up at the mirror, seeing how shitty you looked right now. Messy hair (fur, fuzz etc), eye bags underneath your eyes, and looking like you just got recently killed.
"..God, I look like shit..." You mumble out, hanging your head down for a moment before lifting it back up, pushing yourself up. Standing up fully but slightly hunching. To be fair, you did just wait up. So it'd make sense.
You walked out of the bathroom, heading to your room. It was cold, but you were still sweating–a cold sweat. You collapsed immediately once your body touched the bed. You were so tired, but you'd definitely wake up sore because of this. Oh well, better get some more rest. Well, as best as you can.
-
You woke up sore and feeling shitty. You slowly sat up, rubbing your eye with the palm of your hand. Groaning as you stretched, a few snaps were heard from your neck, but that's normal for waking up in the middle of the night in fear then sleeping in a horrible position.
You sighed as you slowly got up, rubbing your face as you started to walk towards the bathroom once again. "Still looking like shit, huh." You said out loud to no one in particular. Well, actually, I'm pretty sure you're saying it to yourself, but your guess is as good as mine.
You washed your face, water traveling down your arms and face as you looked up in the mirror, small water droplets collected on your eyelashes [YES YOU HAVE LASHES. IT'S CALLED BIOLOGY, MOTHERFUCKA.]. You let most the water drip off your face–some of it even going down your arm and into your shirt–before drying off your face with a facial towel of some sort. You weren't really paying attention. But did it really matter? It's not like anyone else was in your house and using your shit.
This was.. good enough for now. I mean, you weren't really gonna put yourself all together because you're just gonna looked messed up after your shift. [Unless you're a freak, idfk.]
You put on your work clothes, smoothing out any wrinkles. Not like it's gonna matter, it'll be messed up after your shift anyhow, doesn't matter. So you put your shoes on, grabbing your keys and some other things of yours, before walking out of your house, locking the door behind you. After you finally lock the door, you finally getting into your car and turn it on.
-
When you arrived to work, it was kinda empty, but that's just what happens, hm? You sighed as you opened up the main doors, looking around the room and seeing how not a lot of stuff wasn't place properly.
You took off the chairs from on top of the tables, placing them where they should be. There was probably over.. what, ten tables? Whatever, you're not counting, at least I'm not. You just kept putting the chairs where you thought they'd go.
You also started to wipe down all the tables, even through they were probably already wiped down last night by the manager. It doesn't hurt to clean a second time, does it? Plus, it keeps your pretty busy so you don't feel like shit. I mean it doesn't help your feelings, but it's distracting you! So that's good, right?
Sitting down on a nearby table, playing with a few crumbs as your cheek rested against the cold slightly sticky table, your finger crushing the crumbs into smaller pieces before throwing them onto the floor. Sweeping isn't your job today, so whoever is has to deal with those smaller crumbs now.
You sigh, tapping your fingers against a table, bored out of your mind. Your gaze slowly went towards the kitchen, your fingers twitching slightly. Maybe baking wouldn't be so bad right about now.. no one's here, you're early, it wouldn't help just got keep yourself busy, right? I mean, the manager probably wouldn't mind much, he'd be happy that someone made some new pastries!
You got up from your seat, walking into the dim kitchen. You put on a hairnet for cleanliness and safety, as well as putting on an apron and some gloves. Cracking your knuckles, you grabbed a paper off the wall, a fluffy bread recipe.
First was All purpose flour, then some dry active yeast, letting the yeast bloom in the water for a few minutes, adding in some sugar, water, salt and some melted butter was poured into the mixing bowl. You switched on the mixer, and walked towards the ovens, preheating the ovens to 375°F. As well as grabbing out some pans and spraying it with some oil for it not to stick to the pan while it cooks.
When the bread dough stopped mixing, you grabbed it out of the mixer, placing it on a floured surface, rolling and kneading it into a log bed cutting it into nearly equal pieces. Placing the bread into the pans, gently folding them in place so they wouldn't come out deformed.
Picking up around four pans in just one hand, you placed the dough filled pan into the hot oven, placing one at a time to avoid burning yourself, but you also had to work quickly. Placing the rest into the oven, you accidentally burned your finger with the hot oven racks.
You let out a quick curse, placing it into your mouth out of habit. Before placing your finger into cold water, not ice. Ice is bad for burns. "Finger condom time." You murmur to yourself, slightly chucking at your own stupid words. Wow, you really are alone here. You place on the finger protection so you wouldn't contaminate the cooked bread from the oven.
