Chapter Text
Robecca stood over Cooper's crib, watching her baby giggle and slowly flail its little limbs around, staring up at its mother with love, eyes shining and bright, a wonderful little smile on its face.
Robecca cooed, reaching her hand down to tickle its belly, making Cooper burst with joy and laugh, hugging her hand as tightly as possible.
As if their emotions were in sync, Robecca laughed along, gladly letting Cooper hug her hand, her heart touched by its happiness. It's still hard to believe that it's even real. How can something so wonderful and cute exist ? And partially thanks to the love of her life ?
" Oooooohhhh you're so happy !! Oh yes, you can feel how much mama loves you ! Yes you doooo, yes you dooooo !!!~ " Robecca spoke in a sing songy baby voice, just watching Cooper snuggle up with her hand like a toy.
Venus, meanwhile, alerted her presence with the snapping noise of a photo being taken and printed. Robecca perked up and looked over, watching the old polaroid camera dispense the photo, quickly nabbed by Venus, who chuckled and walked off, presumably to find her picture album.
Robecca playfully rolled her eyes, watching Venus soon come back with that thick, tall picture book, sitting on a tiny chair, and placing the picture inside alongside many other photos of herself and her new family. Her eye was half lidded and she wore a small smile, just lost in the moment, serene and comfortable.
Robecca "smiled". She gently pried her hand away from Cooper, who tried to protest with baby noises and pulling back, but Robecca let go anyway, caressing its head for a second and letting her hand linger before actually pulling it away, looking Cooper in its confused little face with a gentle look.
" Sweetie, I'll be back in just a bit, okay ? I'll only be mere meters away ! "
Cooper grumbled as Robecca walked off to Venus, watching its parents through the bars of its crib.
Robecca looked over Venus' shoulder, bending over and placing her palms on her kneecaps, still feeling those same butterflies she did over a decade ago around her.
Venus looked up at her, smirked, and kissed her cheek.
" Heeeyyyy~ "
" Hey, Vee Vee ! " Robecca replied, scanning over the photos of the picture album on the open page, already filling with memories and special moments in their new life.
She sighed, lifting a hand and grazing her fingers over the photos like they were tender and fragile.
" You're really dedicated to this still, I really like that. "
" Heh. Ever since I fixed up that polaroid my dad got me, I just couldn't stop myself ! " Venus replied, fondly recounting the discovery of one of her favorite items and hobbies.
" I remember when I was cooing and baby talking a plant in your greenhouse and you snapped a photo of me. You looked at that photo like you were in love. " Robecca teased, pinching Venus' cheek, reminding her of that cheesy but sweet moment.
Venus snickered, flipping over all the way back to the page that held the photo. Now over ten years old, it had worn down a little, but it was still clear as day: (1)16 year old Robecca holding a small plant by its pot and grinning brightly, her nose brushing against its leaves. Around the photo were hearts, a clear sign of infatuation on Venus' end.
Venus couldn't help but blush, embarrassment, fluster, and affection hitting her all at once.
" Yeesh, I was a lot cornier than I remember ! Hehe ! "
" Heyyyy ! Don't you ever say that about your love for me ! I remember when you first showed me this photo album, I was all giggles and heart shaped steam ! " Robecca playfully protested, elbowing Venus' forearm.
Venus barely flinched, thinking back to that day, when Robecca found Venus' then five year old photo album under her bed in the dorm. They were sat on her bed, looking through it, when that photo popped up. She had many photos of her friends by then in there, but that one in particular was a lot more romantic looking, and she had entirely forgotten about that in the moment. The only thing that saved her from dying from embarrassment then was the fact that Robecca was happy and flattered, and gave her the biggest hug ever.
" Alriiight, alright. Anything for you, hun. "
" Mweeehhh !!! >:( "
Both mothers' attention diverted to Cooper. The grumpy baby was sticking and flailing its arms out through the gaps in the bars, pressing its face against them, very small puffs of steam coming from its ears.
Venus laughed and Robecca quickly skipped over, picking up her baby and cradling it in her arms, mildly worried and a little guilty for leaving her attention starved baby for "so long".
" Come here, Coops ! You can see photos, too ! "
" Yes yes. Sorry for leaving you be, sweetums ! "
Cooper relaxed in Robecca's arms, clinging to her dress. It looked down at the picture album as they got closer and Robecca crouched down, giving it a good look at this new object.
Venus pointed to that old photo enthusiastically, " see, Coops ? That's mama ! Isn't mama beautiful ? "
Cooper looked at the photo of the girl who looked like its mom. Though it didn't quite understand, it giggled anyway, as its other mom sounded quite happy anyway.
" You get your cuteness from her ! "
" I think it has a little bit of both of us. We're cute in our own ways. "
" Yeah, but probably mostly from you. "
" We'll seeeee. " Robecca shrugged, kissing Venus' cheek.
Venus flipped forward a few more pages, stopping to point at a picture of herself and her siblings.
" Do you know who those are ? "
" E "
" Those are your auntie and uncle ! You know, you're kind of like your uncle when he was a baby. " Venus commented, thinking back to Musci's baby years.
" Speaking of your siblings, is Vineria still going to come over tomorrow ? I've been on a good streak with remembering visitors. I'm not about to lose that. "
" Yep ! "
Robecca carefully bounced Cooper in her arms, looking down at it, " did you hear that, Cooper ? Auntie's coming tomorrow ! You haven't seen her since a month ago ! "
Cooper just smiled, blissfully ignorant, but happy nonetheless.
Venus kept flipping through pages, pointing things out to her curious baby, watching it clap, laugh, investigate, and watch the whole time, still keeping at least one hand gripping its other mother's dress.
She summoned a vine to hold up the polaroid, snap a picture, and slide the photo right over to her, prolonging this newly made memory.
